Here is some good video of Tiger when he won the 1995 US Amateur at Newport Country Club. He defeated Buddy Marucci, 2 up.
This video shows his old swing, before he came to the PGA Tour and started to make swing changes. It shows that you can make some key swing changes and still play good golf. Tiger has made swing changes to out perform the best players around the world. My take is that he wouldn't make swing changes unless he new it was for the better performance of his game over time.
It is important that you find a swing coach you can trust. Remember that when you make a change, you must commit to the change. Each person is different on the time it may take to get comfortable and build some trust. Stay patient, as Tiger has done & you'll come out on top when it's all said and done.
