You seem to forget that we were men once. But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father. And when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock, I went after him and struck him and delivered it out of his mouth. And if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him and killed him. Your servant has struck down both lions and bears ~1 Samuel 17:34-36
Group Living.. A complex social structure that ensures we protect members of our group. Throwing things including stones early on and Spears later Running long distance due to sweating. Humans are too powerful even without technology.
Wasn't there another story in a natural park in Africa were some poachers were hunting for rinos and they all got hunted down to the last by a pride of lions?
There is a believe among folks living in the Russian taiga, that whoever kills or even harms a Tiger forfitted his life! People will shun him, because the Tigers who will eventually come after him, will kill everybody near him. So better stay away of such a person!
Tigers have scariest, coolest roars. I once heard it directly when I was very young and I'll never forget it. That day me and my mom went visit my grandparents in a remote area in the north-west of Vietnam, where are surrounded by mountains, and there was a tiger lurking around us that night... You won't understand how monstrosity it is until you're hearing it directly
I am now less afraid of tigers, and now dramatically more afraid of whatever creature caused tigers to develop those spots on the back of their ears...
natty meharena That’s not because Lions are louder by nature, but due to most of them are on an open plain rather than jungles or forest, where there’s almost nothing to stop the sound from traveling farther
Some tiger documentaries that I've watched showed that tigers are actually more social than previously thought. (one clips showed the male tiger relaxing in water with a female.....while her cubs are there) and an exciting study showed a male tiger raising his two cubs after the mother was killed. Love that with documentaries you can actually see the timeline of advancements of our knowledge of animals..
Yeah the male tiger raising the two female cubs, I seen it in the documentary called Tigers Revenge. The male tigers name was Zahleem. It was a beautifully well done documentary.
@@bustonjoyall1941 Yes, that's correct. It took place in the Taiga. I came across that incident in a book called Tiger. Very well written and researched. It also covered the government tracker who was tasked with finding it and eliminating it. The tracker almost didn't make it because the Amur tigers have an uncanny ability to hunt the hunter. Amazing book!
Markov was from one of the poorest and most wild regions in Russia. Most people hunt to survive. He found a dead boar that turned out to be a tigers kill.
I live 30 kms away from Sunderbans. In 1922, a British officer came to hunt a 12 feet tiger. They gathered men from village and cornered the beast. They made a circle around . The tiger, in a moment of desperation attacked the weakest part of the circle. In one clean sweep with the paws he beheaded one hunter and killed another. They could never catch him again.
Words can't describe how I hate hunters who hunt for fun not because they are hungry. Those bastards deserve to die. Rich mother fuckers who collect fur and heads of rare animals like tigers. To be honest I would hunt those people.
@@kylestanley7843 search it up jaguar vs crocodiles. Jaguars always eat crocs but one croc can kill 2 lions. It's about skills. Tiger or lion can kill jaguar. Tigers can kill crocs too. But a 8 meter nile croc has no matchup on water. Only if they live in the same water with great white sharks...
Interesting how the end of that "eyes on back of hat" story isn't here, so I'll say it. It took about a month, but then the tigers figured it out and were back to a similar level of tiger-on-human attacks. Tigers are way smarter than a lot of animals.
Accurately tigers to be called king of forest Where jungle means they include all land animals That's y lions combined called king of the jungle or animals!
Great choice for the animal to talk about this week, because today is the 51st anniversary of the Disney animated classic, The Jungle Book which Shere Khan the villainous tiger is in!
While a volunteer at the Cleveland Metro Zoo, I got an up-close meet & greet with a Siberian tiger. Only a chain link fence between us. The cat is ginormous! Their head is like the size of a beach ball. Their paws are as big a baseball mitts. Incredibly gorgeous but far larger than I had realized!
On Arte, a French channel dedicated to culture, years ago I saw a whole documentary about it, it was edited like a investigation...and seriously, the guy was torn into piece, including his water flask made of metal and his rifle. In the locals living in Eastern Siberia, from Asian phenotype and animist have a saying that stealing the prey of a tiger (the Siberian version...the hugest model) is being a fool and invoking a death sentence upon oneself. The local Shaman said: "Because tigers maybe just animals with no rifles but what they do have are a very particular set of skills, skills they have acquired over a very long evolution. Skills that make them a nightmare for people like unaware poachers and hunters. If they let the prey go alone, that'll be the end of it. Tigers will not look for them, they will not pursue them. But if the poachers don't, the tigers will look for them, they will find them, and they will kill them." Now that I remember, the Shaman was looking a bit like Liam Neeson
That's such a neat fact that they're persistence hunters, not sprinters. That means they share something in common with us. The hunting style we were originally adapted for was persistence hunting.
FWIW, humans have by far the most endurance/stamina of any animal. We're slow, but we can eventually run down and tire out any other land animal. Including long-distance runners like wolves and coyotes.
Tiger always hunt alone. Lions in group. Tiger hunt crocs as well. Lions don't. Tigers swims and lions don't. Tigers hunt wild buffalo(Indian Gaur) alone, lions can't. Lion might be called King. But the real Don of Jungle is Tiger.
You know that tiger was sitting in a chair of the darkest corner of the smoked up room, slumped comfortably with a vodka bottle in one paw and the guys gun dangling in the other....
Yeah, unarmed and alone we are basically Lunchables. It's only by playing to our strengths that we can overcome our weaknesses and defeat the rest of the animal kingdom.
@Ascaithe Because it's easier to make a tiger growl. Lions usually prefer solving their problems with actions rather than words, but they can sound just as ferocious if they get upset enough. Also, the growls in Lion King are heavily edited.
I've heard a conflicting version of the Tiger's revenge story. Markov was hunting and stumbled upon an abandoned boar carcass. He decided to take that as he was hungry and poor but the tiger didn't take too kindly to that and basically trashed his little cabin in the woods. Markov managed to wound it before seeking help but was turned away by everyone out of fear of the Tiger's wrath. Markov went back home and was killed by the Tiger. The same Tiger killed at least one more person before some hunters ended up killing it a little later to prevent more deaths. Moral of the story? Poaching is bad but sometimes, just like other animals, Humans have to do what they need to to survive... Especially when you live in poor region of Russia where Tiger and Human populations overlap. Markov wasn't the bad guy from what I understand, just an unfortunate soul who made a really bad decision that cost him his life.
The problem is, a lot of modern medicine has benefited from traditional medicine, which isn't all bunk. Not all traditions are superstitions, and not all superstitions are traditional.
I could see why old tigers like eating humans imagine being a tiger and to your suprise your immobile prey just presents itself to you. Must be hard to pass up.
In most places in India tigers don't prefer humans because of extensive hunting in the past. But the place mentioned in the video, the sundarbans on the India Bangladesh border, is very secluded and hunting wasnt really done there so, the tigers have only ever seen humans as prey.
Tigers are magnificent and they look cool af. Look at their furs. They have 3 colours. Furs are evolved for camouflage. And if you ask me which animal you want to be if you come to world again as an animal, i will say orca or tiger. Tigers are real apex . Tiger attacks and kills. Few animals are stronger than tigers ( not lion) but they are slow af when you compare with tigers. So any animal can't kill a tiger. Like any animal can't kill an elephant. But elephant can't kill any faster animal and this is why tigers are apex and strongest land predator on the world...
They're also ridiculously intelligent hunters... However smart you might think you are, you *will* underestimate a tiger. Don't be their prey. :P There is a great book about Vladimir Markov and the tiger who killed him, titled simply "Tiger". I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning about the cats or about the extreme backwater parts of Russia. I don't remember the author's name off the top of my head. And funnily enough, tigers in zoos that actually *are* well-looked after and happy (zoos like that do exist!) are often very friendly animals. Much more than other wild cats. Doesn't mean they won't still eat you...
I read that book. It is absolutely awesome and is packed with so much information about tigers, as well as life in the remote wildlands of far eastern Siberia in general. It's one of my favorite books and I recommend it to anyone.
Apparently tigers are actually really well camouflaged amongst green plants since to most animals green and orange look exactly the same, we just have weird freaky ape eyes
Tigers really are magnificent and powerful beings and they should be protected and treated with respect. What would also really help the wild population is if we brought all the Tigers that are been bred in Texas and put them in the wild. And speaking of magnificent predators that should also be treated with respect can you do a video about the Mako shark?
taking the population of tiger from texas and releasing them in the wild sounds like a bad plan. their genetic history and susceptibility to the native diseases could pose a threat to the wild population
@@OOOOOO-dx7zu Now that I think about it you are probably right. But is kinda sad there's more Tigers living in horrible conditions in Texas than Tigers living free in the wild.
Lol ....yer comment is kinda funny btw ,...u know it helps me knowing, that , that literally occurred after I started getting extra attention in my mid to late twenties ...lol! ..so therefore going from 1 end of the spectrum, to the other, is some how a small relief, ...knowing how absolutely absurd and pathetic homo sapiens are , lmao!
Well yeah kind of. I mean much respect to the jaguar but you are a bit to small to offer up and real challenge to the tiger. The only challenge a jaguar can give to the tiger is which one is more beautiful. I think the tiger still wins that one but not by much. Jaguars are very beautiful animals and do rule the Americas.
Something that made me sad, i still remember how easily to finding javan tiger pitcures when i was a kid, on atlas, on animal's book, but now it never find it again as long it's officially confirmed extinct at 1970's
i live in very close proximity to sundarban, and those back mask tactics aren't working anymore. Actually that was not very effective in past also as tigers are very adaptive and clever animal.bengal tigers of Sundarban have been deliberately targeting humans for last few decades may be centuries, but some actions taken to stop human animal confrontation.hope our predecessors could see this majestic animal in their natural habitat.
1.Most successful cat in world: leopard(adapted to any enivornment)... 2. Most social animal and king of African plains:Lion 3. Most powerful and real king of jungle: tiger 4. King of South America: Jaguar 5. Most agile animal: cheetah
I love all feline species. The ways they move, their tails, everything about them is so fascinating to me. But most of them will kill you so cant have them as pets 😢
@John Sebba This is very true. The famous Siegfried & Roy incident in 2003 wasn't actually an attack. Some woman startled the tiger and he thought she was attacking. The tiger almost killed Roy, but he was actually trying to protect him by getting him backstage away from the "dangerous" woman. They just don't know their own power and our fragileness.
Awesome content, as usual! I think the craziest part of that story about the poacher is how he went to he neighbors for help and they made him leave so the tiger wouldn't come there looking for him! Thanks for sharing!
The story of markov is a horrifying one, pure nightmare fuel. The tiger went on to kill at least one more person, and tried killing more. There's a documentary on it, where the few remains of the victims were shown. Sad story of when poverty forces you into compromising situations. Btw, the tiger stalked markov for several days, it let him leave and waited for him to come back, definitely driven by revenge.
@deathbypowerpoint Actually poached tigers end up in China or Japan for their body parts to be used as their traditional Viagra formulation. In India tigers are respected and people pray them as they are believed to be the animal of goddess Durga.
@@ramsewanthakur aren't there tiger farms in china? and they still need poached tigers from India, chinese are weird people, don't they have a heart, killing these beautiful animals really makes me angry
Jungle is based on the Sanskrit word Jangala which means uncultivated land. That means savannas would be included in the Sanskrit definition. The title King of the Jungle for lions was given to them by the Hindi people as meaning the lions are the top predator of all lands humans don't live and work on.
Kenny! In case anyone wants to know, that white tiger they showed is named Kenny. It was a huge debate if he in fact had Downes Syndrome. He exhibited the characteristics, yet analyzing the chromosome made geneticists say no. He passed away a while back but I read his keepers said he was abnormally affectionate and well mannered
I love tigers so much. I’ve spent years working with them at wildlife sanctuaries. They’re incredible animals. Sometimes terrifying, sometimes completely stupid derps.
The story of the tiger killing the Russian tracker is recounted in the book “The Tiger” by John Vaillant. It is one of the best books I’ve ever read and now my respect and admiration for this animal is off the charts. I just saw the Siberian at the Toronto zoo and was spell bound when it walked by my quietly and nodded and blinked at me. ❤
I love that tiger that tracked its poacher back to his cabin, destroyed all his property for smelling like him, waited, and then killed him when his dumbass returned unaware. That's some Punisher shit right there.
In reference to the Sundurbans, I read that for a while the mask practice worked for a while but then ended in failure. Not surprised due to the intelligence of tigers. Also, this place is home to some giant salt water crocs. People found a tiger carcass basically bit in half on the banks several years ago.
