As promised, I am starting to do some mods on my MQB Tiguan. I got my hands on the CTS turbo inlet and the CTS Turbo Muffler delete via ECS tuning. All you really need to get them in is a T30 torx bit on a socket wrench and a 7mm for the same wrench. That and a lot of patience.
The turbo inlet is easy. You remove the intake box via a couple hose clamps (one is the squeeze type and the other is a worm drive one). You undo one T30 torx bolt, rotate the inlet toward the firewall, and pull it out. Then, you yank on the connected hose and it pops off with some force. The new one goes in the same way the old one came out.
The turbo muffler delete should be easy, seeing as how it's just held in with three t30 torx bolts. You remove the charge pipe by removing the hose clamp with the 7mm and undo the charge pipe from the block via a t30. From there, it shifts enough for you to get at the lower bolt on the turbo muffler, which is the hardest to get out. The top two are easy. There is an o-ring in there which you need to save, it goes seated in a groove on the outlet of the turbo. Put it back into the face of the turbo and put in your turbo muffler delete. At that point, you should try and install the lower bolt first. From there, install the upper two. The charge pipe will be somewhat of a nuisance the entire time.
With all of that done, just reinstall you airbox, intake tube, and engine cover and go for a drive.
