Dog piling anyone on the internet with an eating disorder has NEVER worked historically. Think of Eugenia Cooney or Amberlynn Reid. The bullying and constant comments just makes them dig their heels in harder, when will yall learn this
@@stefaniashefer3096I was on tumblr back in those times and tbh tiktok is worse. On tumblr you had to search for that content at least a little bit. Tiktok and instagram reels (especially the latter) throw ED content in random people's "recommended for you" feeds. I have no interest in ED content and yet they showed me that a couple of times.
Some people have no clue how many calories are in foods. Tbh, that may be to their advantage, but still, people should be aware of what goes into their food. cooking and baking has really opened my eyes to what is actually needed to achieve restaurant/bakery quality food
If I was more on TikTok a few years ago I’d be in a much worse spot in my recovery than I am today. Period. Being kind to yourself is sick as fuck girls I highly recommend it
When you said it's not all about how your body looks, it's about how your body feels, that applies to your brain. Your brain is part of your body and if it is hating itself..... that is not healthy.
And it’s like the snake eating itself because it’s all connected. If you don’t properly eat, your brain shrinks from malnutrition if it’s severe enough. If you don’t eat any antioxidants or fats your brain power suffers. then your brain becomes even more dysfunctional and the self talk gets worse and worse. Your mood is not stable because you’re not taking care of your body. It’s a snowball effect. not liking your body and mistreating it harms your brain and if you fuel your bad habits with self hatred there’s never gonna be an end goal in sight because you’ll just want to punish yourself more and more and you become more afraid of food and change.
Exactly. Me hating myself led to me overeating, and only when I figured out how to reduce calorie consumption and body fat did I also learn how to love myself. The excess body fat and poor diet contributed heavily to my mental health issues. And I also learned that just because I liked home-cooked meals didn't mean my diet wasn't still poor. Now I eat and cook with intention, and life has become so much better.
i truly TRULY resented BBL culture but f me I didn’t realise how lucky I had it back then as a curvy girl in terms of my body being somewhat accepted 😭
It’s unfortunate that the body “trends” always fluctuates between stick thin and thick but still thin bc unfortunately thin is always in even if it is to the detriment of the person
After I had my daughter I had really bad ppd and had an eating disorder where I just would sit and eat a family pack of oreos every two days, eat fast food everyday and drink ALOT of pop and no healthy food. I gained 70 lbs. Finally I realized what I was doing and started eating healthy and started working out and now I still can't get all the weight off. It's a real thing and effected my overall health so much.❤
i hope ure feeling/doing much better now!! becoming a parent is sometimes so unfathomable to me, its such an enormous change in one's life im wishing u the best, n a healthy body n mind, for u as well as ur family 💫💫
this is completely understandable! sometimes hormones have a huge factor to play in weight loss. if you’re dieting and exercising and staying consistent and you’re still not seeing results, you should get ur levels checked! it’s a slow but steady process. don’t be discouraged, you got this!
Truly and genuinely shocking how much the Internet has propped stupid people up enough to give them a voice we all have to hear, god bless you for managing to stomach all this (pun very much intended)
When I started gaining large amounts of weight in my adolescence, nobody tried to figure out why. They just told me to go on a diet and lose weight. I had a binge eating disorder and the medication I was on caused weight gain
Cycles of history repeating themselves. Back in the 90s and early 2000s, fat shaming was the norm and thin was seen as basically the only acceptable way to be and no one was afraid to say it. Sounds like maybe that’s a cycle we’re going back to. I’m not glamorizing it, though. I’ve had body image issues my whole life.
Would love to see what exactly is Nickocado Avocados social expirement results. What was he conducting by embarrassing himself on RU-vid, harassing Stephanie Soo, and leaking a photo of his inflamed arse 😭
It wasn't a social experiment. He just exploited the situation, he made fetish content, playing it off as a lolcow. he was vegan before all of it, and i've heard a nutritionist/dietician (something like that). He just knew what he was doing and did it with a purpose of $ and views. This is his attempt at coming back without that stuff attached, playing his behavior as some ha ha silly persona "always one step ahead."
@kellygugie7614 100% agreed. He's just acting like it was all just some social experiment to pretend like he had the upperhand in some game when there was nothing to what he did except be super weird and gross.
@@oomay1925my gov/econ teacher did a similar thing where he claimed he did a social experiment just so he wouldn’t have to actually do his job. He barely ever taught class and then one day declared that him not doing his job was actually a social experiment to see if we’d call him out on it and claimed we were all lazy. I straight up told him that I just figured he was useless
aw man, i feel so sorry for this poor woman. you can tell she’s malnourished cause she’s not recalling the actual words she’s tryin to say (like ‘gastroenterologist’ and ‘lecithin’) and also yikes for promoting this to others. hope she heals!
Thinfluencers remind me of those alpha male podcasters. Their attitude towards ppl different from them are so ugly and it tells a lot about their character imo
also on the note of body positivity, I agree that it went to an extreme end for a lot of the internet but the answer to that shouldn't be to retaliate in an equally toxic way? I'm personally hoping the pedulum between these things can meet a more neutral point eventually to where we stop caring so much how people look. That's probably asking a lot tho from the internet 😩
@@bawnigan6494I hope body neutrality is the next trend. Loving your body is the best option, but if you can’t do that the next best thing is to accept it the way it is.
Crumbl cookies have a very huge amount of sugar, but you can absolutely treat yourself once a while. Also such language is definitely from the hyper thin ana culture. I was around the tumblr times (as a child) and used to say such things without understanding how hurtful it is.
I’m super into the gym and go because 1. I feel more confident in my appearance 2. Feeling less helpless especially as a woman and 3. I feel better mentally and physically. But I avoid a lot of the gym content on tiktok etc because there are so many unrealistic expectations being set, and I know I’d have to develop unhealthy eating habits to look the way they do. Not all, but a lot of them can really cause a spiral into disordered eating.
The thinness culture of the 2000s and 2010s has honestly messed me up, elementary schoolers bullied you if you were fat. I don’t really know if or what weight is “healthy” and in talking with my doctor it turns out health is much more complicated and fluid than this binary of being fat vs being skinny. There are like soooo many factors weight included. Appreciate the Kiana Docherty clip btw her work is great More importantly though what you say about empathy towards those with binge eating disorders is VERY IMPORTANT. I was a fat kid and my dad believed in the weight watchers logic of “you can eat anything you want so long as it’s within X calorie range” and he’d portion control my meals which usually left me hungry since the food wasn’t nearly as nutritionally valuable or filling. I’d end up overeating or just emotionally eating by accident since I never knew if the next meal would be enough to feel satiated. Our eating habits and views on excercise are formed and warped by our parents AND the broader society/internet, it’s not your fault you’re just doing your best with what you have.
It's so personally damaging and socially irresponsible to recognise you're "bullying" yourself and to immediately validate it as necessary to an audience. "Really HATE myself but it keeps me skinny ✌🏻🤪" literally that mindset. We learn those things in childhood to cope with situations out of our control - they're a sign we're feeling that way again. That voice isn't you, it's not right about you. You are valued, loved and worthy of love and respect. Harmful language is never helpful, ok or justifiable. Stay safe everyone xx
First girlie pop is straight up mentally ill. And like, nobody is telling her she needs to stuff her face. Its more the 'Tomatoes make you fat" schtick
Finding out Liv Schmidt and KingKrabbyPatfy both went to U of A!!! There is something about Arizona and specifically Tucson I swear. I got SO SMALL at school because everyone was tiny there. The Tucson U of A effect needs to be studied for real
I was literally just talking about companies low balling calories on their packaging today!! I had no idea my whole life that a serving size of Mr noodles (43g 190 cal) was only half of the package 🥲 I used to eat 2 packs and still be hungry. Thankfully I gave up a lot of processed and convenience foods but it irks me that companies can get away with it
Electrolytes dont make you full. What is she talking about. Feeling full comes from your stomach expanding and weighing more. Electrolytes have to do with nerves firing and muscle contractions, pH and other stuff. She is clearly full of it. She is right about water. People dont drink even CLOSE to the amount of water that is necessary to function. I swear I rarely meet someone who isnt clearly dehydrated, and also that people if you drink water you will feel like your IQ is going up. Your brain NEEEEEEDS it. Your blood needs it. Your everything needs it. CEEELLLLLLS. But yeah people dont exercise. Find a way to be on your feet doing something physical. You dont gotta go jogging every day. But you need to do something manual that keeps you moving a bit. Work on your yard. Build a shed.
Don't know if you actually take electrolytes, I take them on the weekend since I run and cycle pretty long distances, and from experience it most definitely diminishes my appetite to eat. You're right it doesn't make you full but at least for me it makes it a challenge for me to get through all the protein I need to be consuming in a day without leaving a lot of eating until the end of the day because I simply don't want to eat.
@@phoebecross8514 That's interesting. It might be caused by something else though because you're getting like endorphins and stuff when you're exercising and endorphins don't necessarily make you want to eat. I just remember being in the hospital for a long time and not being able to keep food down. I also had super super low electrolytes so I was like spasming and chucking things for no reason, and and before and after getting infusions of electrolytes I was equally hungry. And it wasn't like I was eating nothing so it's like I could have felt full I guess but yeah the electrolytes didn't fix it.
The problem with liv is that just her own issues affecting herself, yes it’s concerning, but the big problem is that she’s promoting eating disorder tendencies and her fat phobia. It’s just very harmful and can hurt so many people
As someone who has lost 53lbs drinking Rao's (not really but I love it), my bloodwork is great. I don't know what her tomatoes are doing but the Rao tomatos, perfection.
My algorithm on TikTok doesn’t show any of this. That’s because it shows what you keep showing interest in. You can click and say “not interested” and boom. Problem solved. You won’t have to look at content that make you feel bad. There will be ED’s in humans for all time. Always have been. Always will be. You can say it’s a trend or not. It’s there in silence too. And it’s our own personal responsibility remove ourselves from it to not get s!ckk ourselves. We have that power. TikTok doesn’t own you.
While posting pro-ED content is not the answer, I do understand the point you made about how you believe people like Liv Schmidt and kingkrabbypatty are kind of a response to excessively PC culture. There is no room for genuine self-expression anymore, especially in progressive circles. Take body positivity: if you ever expressed that you wanted to lose weight, or wished you were skinny, you were vilified. They denied people-women specifically-their true thoughts and feelings, and shamed them for having them. But you can’t expect someone on the internet saying “love yourself” to suddenly undo all the diet culture brainwashing you’ve been subjected to all your life. The body positivity movement asked for too much too quickly, burned itself out, and only hurt women by policing and censoring them even more in the process. And I feel this way about a lot of things. Even social media platforms are getting worse with forced censoring. We can’t say words like dead, suicide, murder, sex, or even lesbian because those words get flagged as “offensive” or “sexually explicit” when they’re just…normal terminology???? And people are getting sick of having to use stupid, almost insulting synonyms to get around it. I think we’re really burning out on not being able to just talk freely and express ourselves properly. And unfortunately this leads to a swing in the opposite direction, to the other extreme, rather than a healthy middle ground. It’s very frustrating.
As someone with an eating disorder, the internet’s over exaggeration and emphasis of food consumption is not helpful to my mental health. Same probably goes for obese people as well
The most important part of this issue is the fact that these influencers are teaching impressionable young people, mostly teen girls, how to have an eating disorder. Those tik toks are literally just video format of pro ana tumblr posts. We can't make these content creators stop, but having this conversation and actually gearing it towards their demographic of impressionable kids and teens is so extremely important. Those anti smoking ads from like +10 years ago that used to scare the shit out of us really worked for a lot of kids when they had those going around, and maybe something like that could help for this. having an honest conversation about how eating disorders can fuck up your body permanently and how your brain works, and dispelling the fake aesthetic control the thinfulencers eating disorders try to promise.
A videoo I kinda missed those it's being quite a time, but again I can understand it takes time to research and make. Still quite happy your fan from Brazil
i was bullied for being skinny back in 2017-2019 n now that its in n im older n not as skinny its like fuck i wish i looked like i did back then its the literal trend now
You look great! It was cool when you started talking about fitness I was happy and excited for you - because I'm a big gym rat. And god only gave me one body so I'll make it as healthy and fit as I can. And it's fun doing it.
I wanna know why people go so hard against Liv but not all these people eating 1,000's of calories casually. Especially since most people today struggle with overeating rather than undereating. Her being banned but not these other people is crazy.
So true. Just goes to show how unconcerned ppl are about binge eating compared to something like anorexia or bulimia. They should ALL be taken seriously
@@adorablewaffles9818I’m betting a decent amount of money that the reason people are not as concerned about BED as they are concerned about anorexia & bulimia is because they think in the majority of cases, the obese people will outlive the anorexic/bulimic people since they’re not restricting food intake in any way.
One thing I’ve noticed this time around is that whenever someone comments about the ED culture returning or someone with a platform intentionally promoting unhealthy habits, it’s met with “why are we commenting on people’s bodies!” even when there’s no comment on their body at all. It’s scary that this time around it feels like we can’t even talk about it without being told we’re “bringing women down” and it feels like an aftermath of 2010s girlboss-ism.
Ed twitter is also everywhere. So many people are interacting with them and no matter how many times I hit the “not interested in this post” I’m stlll constantly bombarded with it. A lot of it is bullying random strangers and celebrities
When I had an ED hearing I looked skeletal didn't make me feel successful. I hated my body before, so I changed it, and then here you are telling me even after changing I'm still disgusting to look at. it would send me spiraling. I got to a point where I didn't know what to do because I didn't like how I looked when I was a normal weight (I was never fat, I look back on my old photos and I was quite thin idk what I was thinking) and then I came to dislike how I looked when I was super skinny. The only real difference is that after starving myself of precious nutrients I didn't just feel ugly, I also felt like garbage. Like I was always tired, my stomach hurt, and I was cold 24/7, it was awful.
Just to add to the Adele conversation- I agree it’s pretty twisted to chastise someone for losing weight. I also believe people need to think before they praise weight loss too heavily, when we don’t know the why or how. Generally it’s just so weird that we feel entitled to discuss the bodies of people we don’t know?? Or even those we do know, when they haven’t invited the conversation. I feel like we need to de-normalize that lmao.
Liv Schimdt's fans will consistently say "oh you're just fat" or LITERALLY TELL ME TO KMS in extremely graphic ways when I say I disagree with the message she sends, it's so fucked up
this is not an endorsement of crumbl cookies, but they do sell cookie cutters that are sized and shaped to cut their cookies into four sections AKA the proper portion size. that's how i save them to eat over multiple days (though sometimes i do eat the whole thing... menstruation kicks my ass okay)
ice spice and doja was more of a black male gaze and black beauty standards as now their preferences weren't accessible for objectification and sexualisation it wasn't really for body positivity imo.
that sugar addiction is real… i used to live off candy at my worst i went 2 whole weeks without a fruit or vegetable and got skinnier from i assume the malnutrition . I managed to not get scurvy or rickets but lost all my gains and now i cant train like i used to. Lol fuck my stupid baka life
@@ObeyLucifer yeah people like you are so annoying. Just because you have disordered eating or whatever does not mean you have to police other people. To me it’s just being weak and making others be strong for you. Nobody forced anyone to watch her. Get over yourself.
@@WhySoSeriouzshe deserved to be banned. you understand how tik tok works right? these creators will pop up on your feed one day and send you down a rabbit hole
19:03 even if this was the case for someone, adele losing weight doesn’t erase the fact that she once was that representation and was still seen as beautiful and respected and talented and acquired fame whilst being in a bigger body interesting to think about
