I also shoot thousand of rounds a year; I have a range in my backyard. It is my belief "based on my experience" that fouling shots are a waste of ammo. Just look at your own results for proof. Only difference "if any" you might see, after switching ammo are the first 2 shots. BTW, I recognize myself as a nobody but I will identify myself as KISSSOFDEATH on RFC and Snipers Hide. I have watched a few of your videos and enjoy them, keep them coming. It's nice to get a different perspective on guns and ammo.
First of all thanks for watching and the feed back. I think that if you're out plinking and having fun sure a few fouling rounds will do the trick but in my opinion, if i was switching ammo on the day of a match for whatever reason i would give it a solid 20-30 just to be safe before getting my dope data. either way you're still shooting at that's a good day.
Have to agree the Tikka triggers are absolutely the best(even close to the price range) out of the box ive come across. Saw absolutely zero reason to change my CTR or TACA1 triggers out for anything, other than adding a yodave spring.
yep i put a spring kit in it and even then it wasn't a ton better. they're very good. i have a t3x tac a1 and its as good if not better than most aftermarket triggers.
it came together very nice if i do say so myself. You're absolutely right about the glass. normally i spend quite a bit more money on the glass than i do the rifle.
You should always spend a lot more on the optic. I have two t1x rifles, one with steiner m5xi 5-25 and the other m7xi both with spuhr mounts and grs rifle stocks. The 22lr version shoots sub moa at 150 meters, 17hmr sub moa at 200 meters. 22lr 10shot groups, hmr 5 shots.
yea i really enjoy this rifle, had it to 450 so far with a little dope left. i've also got a christensen arms range on order but they aren't supposed to ship until may-june
Nice setup! The new chassis gives that action what it deserves more than the stock it's shipped with. I looked it up on their website, looks solid especially for the price. Aluminum bedding. If the barrel is free floated I don't see how a bipod would effect accuracy.
@@coreyd1474 I agree, the stock stock (ha) isn't competitive with the rest of the market for its price. I have the Keystone 722 PT and it comes with an AB Arms chassis. The new ones come with a different chassis, I'm assuming made in house.
@@coreyd1474 Yes they sure look like it, they changed the butt stock to a Luth-AR and the grip to a TacFire, so I wouldn't be surprised if the chassis is outsourced as well.
I have two t1x rifles and if you loosen the trigger as much as you can it will start going off if you run the bolt hard because the spring will not have enough tension to keep the weapon cocked. I spoke with sakos gunsmith and he told me that the trigger is not designed to work under 900g (2lbs). Its possible to get it under but you will start having issues
ayy just realized you were running the PA. Grabbed a 6-24 GLx with Athena to run on my B14r, absolutely love that reticle. First interaction with the GLx series, but i run the PLx 1-8 Griffin Mil on my AR, and PLx 6-30 Athena on my TACA1. Havent even mounted it yet, but quite impressed already. The new turrets are absurdly good for the price, wish they would add them to the PLx line, but im sure thats coming. PA provides some phenomenal optical value.

I've been shooting a Tikka T1x completely stock with a Sightron 36x42 scope on it and at 50 yards I've found everything that I've tried is .50 or less groups and several give me consistent 1" groups at 100 yards . Been thinking about a KRG stock but I don't think for me its worth it.
they do shoot well for sure i just wish they had a better extracting system. the krg not only looks better it feels much better but i get it they're expensive.
@@coreyd1474 after much desire to get my hands on Tikka T1X (20” barrel) two weeks later, I head to the shooting range also T1X cost me $649. I inspected the magazines, and they're very good. It is not like some reviewers say about the T1X magazines being cheap and the rifle stock too. Turn to the stock: it is the same as my Tikka T3 in 300 WSM (15-year-old rifle), not a cheap stock! I did a transformation: recoil pad, cheek riser, grip angle, and forend grip, and I set the trigger to 1.5 pounds; excellent trigger. Now the only thing that I found was bolt lift some difficulty. Another reviewer felt that because of the short throw bolt handle, is the why, for the difficult lift. I will not go into the shooting session group size, this is about the quality of Tikka T1X overall. Excellent 22LR rifle at its price point. I am 71, a Vietnam vet with a whole list of physical problems, there is nothing to complain about, the Tikka T1X.
Great video. I’d still like to see what you can do with it when shooting off of a good front rest and rear bag. Not that bipods aren’t good, but I’ve always gotten smaller groups that way. Anyway, I’m pleased that you’re happy with it. Other than some people reporting FTE issues, reviews on this rifle are very good.
Corey D , many really good bolt action rimfire rifle take a very deliberate movement to eject reliably. Not an issue, once you get used to it. I almost got that rifle before I got my 457 Varmint. I’m happy it’s shooting well for you after your last experience.
Corey D just under (.9) MOA at 50 yards. A really good gunsmith at my rifle club has it now for glass bedding and to clean up the crown. He’s doing it for $125. Couldn’t pass up the opportunity. Hoping to be at around 1/2 inch at 50 yards after that. We shall see.
I have almost the same setup with the chassis and bipod. I had the area 419 rail and replaced it with a dip rail. I had tons of malfunctions with ejections because the 419 rail lacks a cutout over the chamber. Changed the rail and it’s perfect. I think the Cz rail that area 419 has a notch over the chamber. Not sure why they didn’t do that with the tikka.
yea thats odd. never heard that one before. only time i ever had issues with extraction is when the extraction "spring" started to fail. very poor system.
So your cz was in a wood stock from factory. Tikka stock sucked. Didn’t even shoot in it. Laid it in a $500 stock and it’s not really a $500 gun anymore right? I love the videos but I’m just trying to figure out which one to get. They both would look great in a KRG bravo. Cz chassis just came out as well.
yea the tikka factory stock sucks. the cz one is OK. when i had the cz bravo hadn't came out with a chassis to fit it yet but would definitely recommend. the tikka is overall better. action/trigger/accuracy.
Just getting into precision rifle shooting with a new Ruger precision rimfire and having a lot of fun playing with different ammo. Can you explain the "fouling" shots you do on the left before shooting for groups? Is that like a quick "break in" for the barrel with that particular load? I haven't been doing anything like that I usually shoot 3x 5 shot groups out of a 15rd mag of one flavor and then change flavors.
yea basically coats the lining of your barrel. from what i've learned doing it more and more it gets fowled out by around 15 shots or so is all you'll need.
I’d ditch a gun that doesn’t shoot MOA. My factory stock CZ 457 shoots .8 MOA all day long. Definitely looking forward to that KRG Bravo showing up at my front door tho...
My factory t1x was shooting .5” groups at 100yds with eley tenex. Was very surprised how well it shot. Really thinking about getting the bravo but not sure if it’s worth it.
I watched your review and accuracy testing of the CZ 457 Varmint and then this review and I'm confused. When you were going over the CZ targets and ammo, you kept saying how disappointed your were at having dished out $500, and expected better results. Yet, when you tested the Tikka, you shot consistently larger groups and said how you expected the group sizes you were getting for a $500 gun? You shot Federal white box and had an average 1.44", Eley Force for 1.37" with a 0.96" group, and SK Standard for a 1.2" average with a nice 0.86" group...all with the CZ. Your Tikka was shooting a good 1" larger but you liked it? From your own testing the CZ shot rings around the Tikka, and yet you trashed the CZ and praised the Tikka? Wassup whidat???
no. if you heard me say i did not double the moa rating that ballistic x app was putting out. since .5 inch at 50 with 22 is considered MOA ballistic x doesn't take this in to account so i wrote down the info it was telling me and forgot to double it.

@@coreyd1474 Not trying to be flip here, but 1 MOA at 50 yds is 1/2" (0.5235" to be precise) regardless of caliber... Right? Maybe I'm confused too..... I dunno. The groups in this test (vs the 457) were tighter. The very consistent "single flyer" would seem to be a concern. As others have said, maybe a better rest would be the ticket. Overall, I know you said you were happy, but is it unreasonable to expect this gun to consistently shoot one hole groups at 50 yds, at least with better ammo?
@@stevewheeler8640 i dunno man. in my humble opinion half inch is pretty tough to achieve consistently at 50 yards. i mean the slightest wind its off. i know everyone in the comment section their gun shoots 1/8th inch group at 100 yards blah blah blah. if i have a 22 that consistently shoots 3/4 and under i'm happy. also side note. people are VERY passionate about 22 LR lol
Man that is crap, my t1x shoots sub moa 10 shot groups at 50 meters (1.5cm) with pretty much anything. But when you stretch out to 100 meters, only for me eley, sk long range match and lapua polar biathlon can hold consistent 1moa 10 shot groups.
I do not understand why this "reviewers" insist in shooting crap cheap ammo to test a match caliber rifle. Rifles that claim to be of first quality should be tested with match ammo only, which is the only way to have a meaningful test. Other cheap plinking rifles you can shoot whatever and go hunt squirrels with it so who cares. Trying to shoot a match rifle with other than match ammo is stupid. I put ten rounds in 1/4" with Eley, SK, RWS and Lapua match ammo brands with my Anchutz M1913 Super Match at 50 meters and less than an one inch at 100 yards; using lesser ammo gets lesser results. If you shoot a plinker, again, who cares what cheap brand you use.
I see that this comment was made 2 years ago but I think there's an important clarification that should be made based on your comment. The Tikka t1x is not a match chambered rifle. When CZ puts MTR on their rifle it means Match target rifle, but with Tikka, MTR means Multi Task Rifle. It has a sporter chamber, not a match, which will lower its top end potential a little bit, but should also make it less sensitive to budget ammunition. Again, sorry for necrobumping your post, but im shopping for a .22 bolt rifle and I figured someone else may be in the same boat.
Since it’s been necrobumped anyway, I just got a t1x and it’ll shoot Sun moa at 50m with decent ammo. I think it’s about .8 Moa with eley contact, which seems to be its favourite. Out at 100m plus, I can’t say it holds a 1moa average. Moa at 100m is 1.143 and I mostly get sub 2 inch groups with occasional groups down to one inch. At 200m I can usually ding a 6 inch metal target in zero wind.I have mine in Cadex chassis with a vortex diamondback 24x scope.
eley force has been the best for me out of the rugers, the tikka does well with cci std vel. i didn't want to waste any center x when we had it out to 455 but i'm sure it would have been spot on.
Look around and see if you can find Fed ultra match ammo. Very pricey but I have a couple of rifles that will shoot 1/4" at 50 yds with it. Does give some serious bragging groups.
ok so ive been looking at a used cz455 varmint with 20" fluted barrel, savage b22 precision, ruger rpr, and this rifle all in 22lr. im leaning towards this one as ive never had an accurate ruger rifle, savage shoots amazingly well but stocks suck, options are limited and the action feels to much like a rimfire, the cz is used and i dont like the look of the newer receiver, the Tikka has the best over aesthetics, love the short bolt rise, love the fact it can use the centerfire stocks. down side is i would rather a heavy barrel. of what ive listed what to you think would be the best compromise of form and accuracy. i want accuracy but want a rifle ill enjoy looking at and shooting as well.
as far as performance goes the tikka is great. i have a b22 coming so i should have a video up on that in a few weeks. the only "gripe" aesthetically wise is the pencil barrel looks funny in the krg IMO but you get past that when you start shooting it.
When i shoot i usually wait 5 mins between rounds.. i see generally 30% better groups. Those look like 10-22 groups. The trigger should break without you knowing it...
@@coreyd1474 i dont go to my range just to get it over with, when im working up best loads for center fire, or trying to get the best posible groups on anything thats what i do. Nice and slow. My best shooting gun is a Ruger ss m77 .223 with a sporter barrel its very best or my pb .370 @ 350 yds (my max range) it out shoots both my 22-250's by a right smart, But you cant do that firing them as fast as you can. I have 3 10-22's i can get 1 5/8" group 5 @ 50 out of 1 of them most under 1", with just bedding and trigger work When im working up hunting loads i do the same slow and easy, i take all day for a range session whether i shoot 50 rounds or 250.. if I'm shooting for the best possible i take my time, if you are impatient do what ever you want. Some times i just sit down and fire 10 rounds down range, just for the heck of it but rarely. Hey I'm just giving you some info. Those groups look good for a gun like a good stock 10-22 but thats jmo but if you like 'em its ok. A couple of them were ok In my book. Try slowing down one time see if its better, but if you don't have the time i understand. Most of the time i take 5 or more guns to shoot, hand guns too. i also like shooting black powder, that will slow you down. Just trying to help you get better groups.

Well after roughly 1500 rounds through it I had the rprf to shoot a few weeks ago and it felt like the biggest piece of trash I ever ahot if I'm honest. BUT the rprf shoots well out of the box I put this in a chassis. So depends on how much you want to spend I guess. Tikka>rprf all things considered
The RPRR rifle is a piece of trash. I picked one up about 2 months ago, as it was supposed to be some sort of great little rifle. It was probably the worst machined firearm I've ever seen. (...and I've almost everything) The bolt and receiver are cut so poorly that there a striations in the metal. They amount of work I had to do on the rifle, just to get it to be shootable was a total surprise. The trigger also leaves alot to be desired. To that point that you'll find yourself buying a Timney replacement, pretty much because you have to. On the flip side, the Tikka T1X is so well machined it's almost hard to believe.
Everyone shoots groups at 50 yards and claims sub MOA truth is rifles shoot much different at 100 if you really want to the potential of your rifle shoot it at 100 yards
You buy a good gun and feed it a diet of Rubbish Ammo, your gun does not compliment the good stuff though! Eley Should have been much better, I feel you need help, ask some of the old guys at the range for help, you are doing something wrong!
Why don't you just measure the actual center to center distance on your groups ? Most people do. Many of your groups would be 1/2 inch which is quite good.
