As a Software Engineer and having a PhD in AI, I can without a doubt say that companies with all the sophisticated data-oriented algorithms have access to all the user-data, your parents don't know you that well the way an algorithm knows you nowadays. My opinion: as software engineer I firmly disagree with your statements. Our field is built on top of data protection. You will not find any serious technology that do not protect data even from the developers. If you're talking about a really small startup of 2 or 3 people I understand, otherwise I gotta wonder if you're really a PhD in AI.

They do not "share" the data. This is a play on words. They allow the data to be accessed by 3rd parties including China. They just didn't pick it up and give it to them. Google uses the same term "word-play" with their apps.
This word game doesn't make sense unless the information is publicly available. I'm in tech and if data is made available to a third party, that's called "sharing" the data. You don't have to physically hand it to them or otherwise carry out the process without their request for it to be called sharing. That's ridiculous. TikTok needed to be banned ages ago.
Read up on the security vulnerabilities in the TikTok API. It's essentially malware for phones. Credentials can be lifted from the in-app browser and sent anywhere the app devs want. It's a cyber tool disguised as a social media app.
They are allowing third parties access to private user information. Yes, Google does it to and it’s wrong. Possibly nailing Tik Tok, a smaller entity, will open the door for more accountability by giants like Google.

It's amazing to me how complacent parents and teens have gotten, to where they absolutely know that TikTok is sharing data with chinese but they 'dont care' because tiktok has marketed in a specific way. But lie by omission is that those "strict access controls" allow for user data to be given to the CCP. She never specified what those "strict access controls" are. Sure they are strict. Call me crazy, but when a Chinese company created a social media platform, I refused to ever use it. Pretty simple. Problem is, most people don't think about this.
This is precisely why a cottage industry of dissecting TikTok content has arisen here on RU-vid. There is no need to use TikTok, when others are already curating it for you. Give it another 5 years, and it will be Democrat Senators calling for the restriction/elimination of TikTok. Why? TikTok is the #1 provider of informational fuel for the MGTOW movement. Look, I don’t defend her in any way, but any defense lawyer will tell you not to answer a question with a yes or no if you think it is a question that cannot simply be answered with a yes or no. His repeated demand she answer yes or no in any court of law would be met with a lawyer asking the judge to have her answer yes or no at which time she would tell the judge she cannot. He would then instruct the lawyer to ask the question a different way or accept her answer. These hearings are the same as a court of law only no Judge presides, thus the arrogance of legislatures (both D & R) insisting on yes or no answer.s. You can tell he is frustrated that she won’t answer his question the way he wants it answered, but that is the witnesses right to do so. It also is evidenced by the fact he cannot hold her in contempt of Congress for her refusal to answer yes or no.
