Be very careful when you're fed an ad on TikTok for a new medical device, but often times they can either be meaningless wastes of money or pose a legitimate risk to your health! It's also scary on TikTok because it's not obvious when videos are ads here. That TikTok featuring a "real" person in their bedroom talking about how great a product is for their medical condition might not be "real" at all, but a careful crafted advertisement designed to trick you into thinking these products work. Today we talk about EMF shields, double chin sucking devices, alkaline water machines, ear cleaners, posture correctors, mastic chewing gum, coffee enemas, ionic foot detox, and more! Let me know down below if there are more products you've seen that you'd like me to review.

“Beauty water” is the title of a short horror story by a WEBTOON author. In the story, beauty water would basically melt your face and allow you to reshape your face for a certain number of hours. One of the characters even used it to get rid of a body, as it broke down and dissolved the body into nothing but mush. You best believe that any product that allows you to create “beauty water” is something I’m going to stay the heck away from 😳

I agree with you. Based on IG post, Tik tok test I have: Autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, etc etc. and spoiler, I don’t have any of this. People are oversimplifying the diagnosis and spreading misinformation about some pathologies. At same time, I think is okay to use platforms to spread awareness about mental disease, but they are not a valid place to diagnose. The worst is some professionals are believing false information and sharing it. A classic is saying: people who has Asperger syndrome has a higher IQ and it’s the difference between autism. NO, the only difference is that AS patients don’t have language difficulties…

No, because, you can’t just say western mental health that was written by a very homogenous group of people, takes in the factors of what different demographics experience and how those factors affect how they experience mental health. So , yes someone knows their body and yes someone can make educated guesses to try and find help. Interesting fact, did you know in many Asian countries they study both western medical medicine AND spiritual holistic medicine, and use them in conjunction. I just want you and others who have takes like this to challenge he idea that the only things that’s legitimate is being diagnosed by western Medicine

So true... Finally someone said it, you are ageing the moment you are in your moms womb lol, thats how you get the birthdays, in fact you age every moment. Apart from that, about the ear cleaner tho, i totally understand what he says about the wax being necessary etc and its scary how not knowing how to use it or misusing it and damage the eardrums etc can be scary. But if theres a way people can be taught how to use it with a video tutorial safely without damaging the ear then i wonder if having it at a normal ppls home can help especially if ppl get stuff stuck in their ear and they have gone to the doctor but they said theres nothing in there. Because not every doctor is reliable in certain areas,and sometimes even reliable doctors can be wrong. which just cones with being human and it just makes patients even more reassured about not having anything in there but without any way of checking it themselves if there is something that they feel is stuck after going home, in which case may be the ear cleaner with camera can be used to just detect if somethings in there and then go to the doctor to take it out than trying to take it out yourself. i ll give an example of a person who went to the doctor complaining about occassional odd noise in their one ear, doctor said theres nothing wrong and situation stayed that way for half a year till they used a ear wax remover tool that looks like a pimple popper tool sets circular ring on top to remove the wax and they saw an ear bud come out that ear that was stuck in their ear. and having foreign thing stuck in there, going unnoticed by doctors can cause mild to serious infections, and they can go unnoticed when the thing is moving around and there are no other symptoms Sometimes doctors ignore it as the patients misunderstanding/imagination.and then patients are convinced they were wrong too. Or when its an emergency to remove things like bugs/ants that went inside but you cant see it easily and you will have to bear with a painful ride and it may cause damage till you reach the doctor, in those cases having an ear scope with camera and light attached to your phone can be helpful. Either that or in case of something being stuck but not being found by the doctor, may be one would rather go to a bunch of different doctors to get it solved, until person is convinced themselves that theres nothing in there but there is and it causes infections. However idk which risk is worth it..ignoring that doctor/multiple doctors missed what's in there or risking damaging the ear, imo neither but for ppl that know how to use it safely and those that only use it in emergency i hope its helpful.

Psssssh I can't believe how many people don't know that aging is caused by toxins and not part of the natural process. I've been sitting in the fridge since I was 10 and I haven't aged a day in 20 years!
@tinntinnamp

OF course a lot of people want to reduce aging if possible, that's where these come into play, whether it works or not. Like Dr Mike can shout that to plastic surgeons providing unnecessary procedures to make people feel good (not talking about the surgeons for horrific accidents or bad birth defects of course). They should age just as everyone else but will pay even with a risk to attempt to look younger (which they don't, just looks like they got work done). There is always a risk of death if going under and even with basics, due to infection.

Nitpicky correction: you said mastic was discovered in 1822, but mastic has been used in medicines and cosmetics since ancient times. I vacationed in Chios, where there's an entire museum devoted to mastic, and it's actually fascinating. It's the sap of a tree that we've never managed to grow successfully anywhere but Chios, and it's incredibly laborious to harvest. It's always been a very valuable product, and the "mastic villages" on Chios were conquered and traded by various empires for thousands of years. The whole culture of the area is built around it, and UNESCO considers mastic "intangible cultural heritage". It's pretty tasty, too. If you try it, you'll probably recognize the flavor as something you've detected in some brands of chewing gum. Gift shops on Chios are full of mastic candy, drinks, spreads, soaps, liquor, ice cream- you name it. There are lots of health claims, but there's little scientific evidence for any of them. I recommend just enjoying it for its refreshing taste and cool history.
@fireeaglefitnessmartialart935

You said it's a sap. So it sounds like it's just an exotic sugar like honey. Too bad it's difficult to farm outside the area. I've never heard of this place, so perhaps the environment is specific for that substance.

I don't think people usually fall for these scams because "their doctor recommended something that would take more time and effort" - I think it's more often because they don't have access to good medical care either financially or just as far as having a good provider that listens/provides help for something rather than just sending you away with painkillers.

I know this video is several months old now, but I wanted to add my own experience to the "posture corrector" conversation. I have had poor posture for years and it got to the point of causing headaches due to strain on the muscles where they attach behind the skull. My neck position was about 30 degrees forward of where it should physically be. Combine that with forward rolled shoulders and I had all the makings of a hunchback posture. I tried for a very long time to correct this by doing stretching and strengthening exercises, but I couldn't quite get it. I eventually decided to try one of these correctors and, in my situation, it helped me to get over the "hump" of not being able to open up my chest muscles. They had become so tight that my back could not counter it. All my exercises did was create painful knots in my back. This corrector helped me to stretch out those chest muscles so that I could effectively progress with my back workouts without that pain. I do not rely on this item to create my posture, but it did help me on the road to knowing what proper posture should feel like and stretching my chest out so that I could achieve this posture on my own. So, saying all this to say, these correctors CAN serve a purpose in certain situations as I have personally experienced, but I do agree that they should not be used in place of your own physically created posture. In the end, the muscles need to be able to support themselves.

I actually had a patient come in with gum stuck behind their ear (I work in a nephrology practice and noticed the gum during a BP check). I said “ma’am you have gum stuck in your hair!” And her response was “oh no it’s not stuck, I put it there for my TMJ. It helps my jaw not to lock up”. I just said “oh, ok” and let the doctor know. He said they had a nice long discussion that that doesn’t work that way. She was so genuine about it too. I have no idea who told her to do that but I’m sure it wasn’t someone in the medical field.

It is so depressing. My husband was like well this one ap says for $60, I can lose 60 lbs in a month. I was like omg you idiot. Then of course the younger people. A lot of this stuff can hurt everyone of all ages. I have noticed with at least my daughter's generation (she is Gen Z, I believe, she is was born in 2000) they are a lot more skeptical. That could just be that she is starting out being an adult. I just hate all of this fake holistic bs, then those people become very judgemental, which is the opposite of the yoga 🧘‍♀️ lifestyle. The amount of times I find myself in comments on these adverts telling people to not mess with their spines with no knowledge is ridiculous. I think I get ignored a lot too 😞 spinal health is not something to mess with. I need my back brace because my spine has weak collagen and can't hold itself up properly, and it causes me a lot of pain, and even occasionally numbness and pinched nerves. I had years of physiotherapy before my spinal surgeon, physiotherapist and orthotist agreed I needed a back brace daily. I can't have spinal fusion because of my EDS. (basically wherever the fusion ends, they worry my spine would "flop" due to the hypermobility and damage my spinal cord). We didn't just go into it blindly, it's my only option, and it's prescribed to me. It's customised to me. It's not just off the peg. My back hurts just looking at these off the peg things! Thank you doctor Mike! X

I still have it and will occasionally throw it on just to see and yeah its pretty much useless at this point. If anyone is watching this and still thinks about buying one, my best advice is to stretch more and try to pay attention to how you sit/lay down, those are what I've found to be the best tips to having better posture.

@bishielurfer
@bishielurfer Год назад
There are correctors or braces that can help with things like that, but they should be gotten from doctors, especially if it's causing you n discomfort. Doctors will need to first evaluate if it will be beneficial for you or if other interventions may be more appropriate, and if they do decide you may benefit from a corrective device, it will still need to be properly fitted and instructions for how/how long you wear it will vary depending on your specific situation.
