tiktok will probably get banned 

the way i fought the urge to open tiktok throughout this whole episode is terrifying

i generally hate how addicting it is and how glued we are to our devices now. it's pissing me off even more that other applications/websites are trying to replicate it. ex. youtube shorts, instagram reels, whatever snapchat's got going on..

I honestly think people are latching on to tiktok and it's becoming all people care about

In Norway they might come with a “restriction”so that anyone under the age of 18 can only spend one hour on tik tok.

as someone who has never had tiktok i’m so ready for this to happen. i mean, i understand why people would be upset but i really do think that the positives will much outweigh the negatives.

there are third graders in my school who have tik tok and that is honestly terrifying

I hope it gets banned all over the world. I deleted tik tok about a month ago and my friends dont understand why. All of them still use it. I think whoever deleted this app is a person that made a great choice that made an impact on their life. If you are planning to delete it but isn't sure, dont worry, i was also struggling to delete it, even tho i kinda feel far from my friends (in terms of trends and stuff) its still a great choice!

As someone who’s into content that’s longer and typically considered boring, tiktok always felt like it’s too much for me. Even RU-vid shorts (I did get sucked into it once) it’s too much for my brain and I lowkey feel like they make me much more anxious. And now hearing about tiktok is like hearing about a whole new world 👁👄👁

I live in Hong Kong and it got banned here in 2020, but I remember when everyone would see the same memes and audios and stuff. The last trend I remember from it was waking up one morning to the entire for you page being covered in ‘bean TikTok’ ‘tree TikTok’ etc with other really random things.

I think that this would be great for US and Canada. Internet addiction is a very real problem facing our countries, and if we want intelligent adults, we have to get rid of this stupid crap.

i deleted tiktok in july last year bc i kept seeing videos that pissed me off and in all honesty its been so much better for me mentally and emotionally and just overall, and a while back i saw a video explaining that the mechanics of tiktok is literally detrimental to peoples atention spans and brains and the data mining means all your info is going to strangers, and you can also see how much tiktok has had an effect on other social media too. eg with reels and shorts on youtube, reels on instagram get so many more views and likes than standard posts do because of the way its formatted and how people are used to the infinite scrolling. i live in the uk so idk if its ever gonna be banned here but i wouldnt care for it if it did

TikTok has my vote to be deleted. The negatives outweigh the positives.

I’m a college student and some of my friends cannot do ANYTHING without getting on TikTok. We’ll be hanging out and they’ll just be sitting there scrolling through and not even listening to anything going on.

I've never downloaded tiktok and only went on the website to like my besties tiktoks. I'm glad I've stayed like this bc anything truly relevant will be told to me through yt. I don't have any social media but yt and I've stayed happy with that for a while. Drama channels and podcasts (drama mama, Adam McIntyre, and a couple others) keep me informed and content with my knowledge of what's going on in the internet. I think it's keeping me healthier (mentally) and happier in my opinion. I'm not obsessed with consuming shortform content and feeling pressured by fads on tiktok. My drama: I started an account pretending that you got kidnapped and it got millions of views, and people actually believed me, like you talked about how actual creators came up to you and asked. I made it as a satire account and even put it in the hashtags a few times, but everyone completely believed you were kidnapped.

i really do hope that tiktok gets banned, when i had tiktok my mental health was literally terrible but once i deleted it a few months ago i’ve felt WAY better. and another thing is how toxic the app actually is, i stopped playing certain games, watching shows, and other stuff just for people not to assume i’m problematic and for people to not make fun of me, another thing is how many children and toddlers are on that app, that’s not safe because there are like SO MANY pedos on that app and the kids and toddlers could get groomed by pedos on tiktok. i had a friend who was like really addicted to tiktok and she hardly talked to me when we hanged out and would just stare at her phone scrolling on tiktok ☠️☠️ so if tiktok does get banned atp idrc.

the reason they want to ban it is bc of privacy issues. tiktok is literally allowed to see every key stroke you make and im pretty sure everything u send too. by downloading tiktok and accepting the terms of service you allow them to see everything u do on ur phone. it makes sense that its banned from government officials phones because i dont think they want the chinese govt spying on them or anything ykwim? anyways yall stay safe xx

Deleting tiktok was the best decision I've ever done in my life, and I'm not even exaggerating. I won't lie and tell you i don't go back to it every long while bc of curiosity, but whenever i do, i find myself stuck again. And this is the problem: being dragged into the tiktok cult. Literally, it's like a cult; it sucks you to it, and only 1 in 10 people is able to unleash themselves out of it, which is terrifyingly worrying.

I used to literally need tiktok to feed my short attention spand it was so bad. I deleted almost a a year ago, and I have never been better. If your thinking of deleting tiktok, do it. You won’t miss out on anything the only thing you’ll miss out on is your real life.

Im really happy that i stopped using tiktok around 1 or 2 months ago. The videos on the app made me extremely insecure (those glow up videos), and in the last month or two ive been getting bit by bit less insecure :) (i apologise if my english was a little messed up at some parts)

I noticed that the comment section for all short clip content (like TikTok, Instagram reels, etc.) are by far the most toxic I've ever seen and filled with so much misinformation. It was so baffling and I used Twitter for years... The bar is in hell

I HAVE A DRAMA STORY! When I was in elementary school I had a bully, and she was always mean to me for no reason and one day when everyone was in music class, she snuck out of the class and put water in my shoes!! When the class was over I noticed that my shoes were soaking wet…. And I told the teacher that my shoes were somehow wet and they all guessed that she put water in them because she would always do random shit like that. Later one of the teachers pulled her aside and asked if she did that and she literally started crying. I really hope you see this Ben! I love you so much. Your vids are so funny!!

My nephew is literally 6 and when he comes over he's talking abt stuff he saw on tiktok, memes, he randomly MOANS and its just so bad that he has full access to it always. Your next episode should be about like young kids (like my nephew) having and growing up with the technology they have and how it's definitely damaging to their brains.

I really hope tiktok gets banned because if it does it’ll kinda bring us all together a little more. I Remember when I had it I was so sad, up very late doing work ,and I had so much anxiety!Whenever I went on the app I just wanted to throw my device across the room and run down my neighborhood ,I hated the feeling so much.I felt I have other things to do like art, playing my instruments , and just genuine stuff and I went without doing the activities I usually enjoy , for days!It also has so much hate in it. You could go from liking a certain fashion style and then there would be one video saying someone thought the fashion was stupid and then all the sudden you don’t dress in the style. I think it’s so addicting because if you don’t like one video you scroll to the next just looking for more shock value but you never do but you always have hope so you just keep scrolling being totally unaware about how much time you are spending.Your family might be watching movies and you might be in your room scrolling on tiktok mindlessly.Then this cycle repeats and then your family wonders why you never stay with them just to do something as simple as watching a movie.For some reason it even feels like it shortens your attention span .

I used to have TikTok and it was so bad for me. I would spend hours and hours at some point I was running out of storage so I deleted all my apps but just kept TikTok. I deleted it and I have been so much happier and healthier mentally. I do have RU-vid shorts which does keep me in the loop somehow but with trends I am a bit out of the loop with my friends which is fine cause they keep me updated! I feel like it would be better for everyone if it got banned.

this has already happened in hong kong, and i must say it was frustrating at the start bc it was a whole platform that we did not have access to unless we were willing to turn on a vpn and take out our sim cards. also made it harder to share entertaining videos with friends/family from other countries. i am definitely happy that it has been banned nonetheless because if not i would for sure be as addicted as so many other people

I deleted tiktok around 2 years ago and a bit, best decision I’ve ever made! I always have liked longer form content about things I’m interested in like history, science, art and stuff that my sister thinks are boring haha. And I feel like I can be myself now! I love my sister, but she’s changed so much just by having tiktok, if there is like 10 seconds where nothing is happening, she goes on tiktok, Even during conversations sometimes. She’s still the same other than not being able to have long conversations with her without her getting bored and it’s weird for me seeing her like certain trends then get bored of them, which is completely normal! But like squishmellows she liked but now she doesn’t, a certain type of style she doesn’t like anymore to do with fast fashion which again is completely normal, she is just trying to find herself as am I to! And also I don’t watch RU-vid shorts because they have a lot of similarities with tiktok. And also don’t get me wrong trends go to RU-vid aswell, I just see them very rarely.

When I first heard about the ban I was so sad but now coming into 2023 and seeing all the doo doo caca on this trainwreck of an app.... PLEASE TAKE IT AWAY!

I’m an ex-creator and this whole situation has made me do a lot of reflecting on my past. I haven’t been active on my account in over a year because I deleted the app. I had a decent following too but I felt myself slipping away from my life. I was so focused on making content and consuming media that I stopped actually living my life. Since I deleted the app my life has improved way more than I could have imagined. I think that if TikTok got banned it would have a major cultural shock but in like a year or two it would turn into the vine situation. Everyone would get over it and the people who don’t will watch the compilations on RU-vid. We would all subconsciously move on and try to cling to a different app to cope until a new one comes along. It’s just how things work now. But if TikTok just goes under new management then I think that it would create a lot of problems and new rules would be made and then people would complain and rally against it. It’s a complicated situation but my opinion is that no matter what happens we should all try to practice self discipline when it comes to letting social media control us. We’re gonna look back on this when we’re older and wonder where our lives went.

When I heard the news about TikTok being banned in 2023, I was initially celebrating. And I don’t blame my 2020 self. The challenges. They were everywhere. And they were dangerous.

Me who switched to YT shorts in august after getting banned from TikTok:

I would be pretty upset if it does happen, a lot of my work is on there considering I'm a cosplayer. As well as old accounts I had since I was 15 before it became TikTok. Maybe I should try to learn Reels or RU-vid shorts if and when it does I have something to fall back to. I get there's cringe and stuff people don't like but that's literally everywhere. Some of us use the app as like a documentation of improvement and art work to be shown more than your small circle of people. Not like I'd be upset losing all my followers but more of my silly little videos and memories. I can't really save them all since I post just about 2-4 times a day and my storage would be screaming. 😭

i deleted tiktok back in January and god I’ve been so much more productive. I get my work done alot faster than before plus I’ve even picked up the guitar and bass guitar and im making really good progress.I spend more time walking my dog with my sisters and my sleep schedule is so much better

I deleted tiktok 2 years ago and tell you IT CHANGED MY Life. I could sleep without thinking about scary stuff I saw on the app, I got better grades and a healthier lifestyle.
