Mentally, physically and emotionally it’s extremely damaging for the women that go through this and the children that are born as a result. They’re raised in a completely absurd way that’s so far removed from what most would consider to be the norm and the ‘Father’ is just downright despicable for the deplorable ways he acts towards women. Polygamy isn’t an issue but when you’re doing this it’s not a case of polygamy it’s abuse and neglect, he groomed those women and abused them and them neglected them and the children. He also used it as a guise for being a p*do. You’ve got children being born that are growing up knowing their Mothers are being abused and that their Father is the one that was doing it. They’re being shown that their Mother means nothing and by extension neither do they because they’re just a number, 1 of 150.

Before someone brings in another partner, the other person at least has to know about it and be willing to let them in on the ride. If the other person isn't consenting to it, then it's a big nono to bring in another person. And same goes for the person who will be brought in, they need to know what they're getting into, and they need to consent to it first.

The biggest polyamorous pod I've seen with a healthy relationship was of 5 partners, with more than 1 male(or all female in the case of lesbian poly), but usually the only ones that work really good and last long have 3 partners. I'd put the limit to 5 consenting adults of at least 18-19 years of age, and I'd have further investigations called if it's just 1 male and 4 women, because that's usually bad\abusive.

@@jacquelinecallejas1390 I was pressured and my mom went to court and got permission from the judge. I already had a baby from this grown man before we married, I had my son right before I turned 15. I was basically groomed, impregnated and pushed to marry him or I'd be homeless. He was in his mid 20's and I had just turned 14 when I got pregnant. People don't realize this happens everywhere, in my case it was Texas in 1998. As soon as I turned 18, I filed for divorce and I haven't looked back. He was a violent man. Our son is 25 now but I also have a 17 y/o daughter. As a mother, I could NEVER do that to her. I'm an advocate now to close this loophole where a parent can sign for their child to get married underage

Marriage is a legal contract, so only people with full legal rights above the age of 18 should engage in it! In my country some regions allow kids as young as 14 to marry 🤮

I bet a big chunk of parents who do it do it either because the older person gave them money or gifts OR they figure they will be better off financially if they don't have to feed and clothe their kid any more. I had some real bad anxiety due to some problems between my parents, they had this fight and went to court, i cant recall the entire thing. i never addressed it cuz i was too embarrassed, and i couldnt open up to my family, especially my dad, who i live with and trust so much. i thought therapy would help, but i still couldnt open up. I started having panic attacks at the end of 6th grade (literally almost daily) and i kept having them all through 7th grade and some occasional ones after that over the next few years. I was then diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and up to this day (its been like 7 years) and i still feel this really bad sensation in the pit of my stomach or my mouth becomes dry or i feel headaches, nausea, blurred vision, extreme shivering, suddenly freezing when im shocked, shortness of breath. basically symptoms of a panic attack even if i dont have one. just wanted to share

My dad is the oldest of 16 kids, my oldest aunt said that it was child abuse because her and my dad were the ones as kids to raise the younger ones. My youngest uncle attended the same HS as me at the same time he was in his junior and senior years when I was in my first 2 years of HS. The teachers at first assumed I was like the 17th kid in the family and I was like "Yeah no. I'm the niece." I saw the relief on their faces like 'It's come to an end finally.' XDDD

As for paying for everything, *legally* the first wife is the only one married to him, so the other wives can get government assistance. I grew up in Utah near a community of FLDS polygamists. I went to school with some of the kids (I think most of their moms had left the marriage and church, I think the kids of moms who were still in the church were homeschooled). There was some social stigma around it, which is understandable, but the fact that that stigma was put on the kids was ridiculous. One of my best friends was one of those kids. Her dad died and her mom left after that, I was her only friend because kids knew about it. I didn't know that when we met, but I still would have been friends with her.

I mean, polygamy is illegal in the US, but a neighbor can't just report that's its going on and then the police go break it up, wives have to report that it is going on and even then I think the husband will really only be arrested if abuse or child marriage (which the men always deny) is proven to be going on.

I will say, ethical polygamy relationships can be really incredible and loving. Though, typically those relationships are with only a few partners, and some that you may fool around with together/separate. I lived just outside of Creston during the 2010s and would often play with the girls in the Creston park (which they frequented) everyone in Creston knew about the family and the stories of them (especially the hospital stories). There were a lot of them so everyone had experiences lol. Also a note, all the girls I played with wore long dresses and had long, uncut hair. None of them were in the school system either, so…. ya.

Also, the FLDS we're known to have their own "schools" and other community things in their rural areas. Some of them, their own security officers. They got away with a multitude of sh** that way. I know this family leader was no longer a part of the FLDS, but he taught the same propaganda. I imagine that the women who weren't brainwashed enough had felt like they lived in a prison without bars, but with fear of losing their loved ones if they leave - or even just disobey. And the regular people were considered evil apostates. So, without more exposure to the true world, their options were grim. Either remain a man's property with your loved ones or risk everything you know for the scary unknown where you may or may not survive or go to their version of heaven. Those people who willingly did the brainwashing should be punished.

It’s frustrating that there are some men that can just go around and continuously make children, but the women have to carry those children for 9 months. I don’t have kids, but I want to in the future. I think childbirth is a beautiful thing a woman can experience. It sucks to know that someone is degrading women in this way and that they think the complexity of having children is just a trophy to them. Absolutely absurd.

My father was sort of in a polygamy relationship, which is common in my religion, in Islam. My parents have been married for 18 years, and have 5 kids. My dad and my mom get along alright or an arranged marriage, even if my mom secretly hates my dad. The reason my dad wanted another wife was for a son. A relative of my mothers' had done black magic on her out of jealousy to stop her from having a son. My grandfather was persistent on my dad, the eldest son, to have a son, but my wasn't able to have a son. So my dad went and found a woman, and got engaged to her and got her pregnant. But then my mom had a son, and so my dad left the woman. My brother is currently 5 months old, and my dad hasn't talked to us about his other wife, I found out through clues from last year. But yeah, my dad was just being selfish, this is insane though

I believe it’s possible it love multiple people at the time. I’m polyamorous. The line is drawn when you’re no longer loving everyone in the family. Poligamy isn't wrong per si, but the partners must be consenting adults. There was a time that it was necessary. Men died hunting, fighting. Women needed to have as many children as possible because many died young. 14 years old was not young to marry, because people died younger. Our modern times doesn't require any of that.
