i completely agree with your part about evan, he was just a lost, confused, and anxious kid who didn't really know what to do, connor's parents pretty much forced it onto him that he knew connor when he didn't. but it's confirmed by the creators of dear evan hansen that jared uses humour as a defence/coping mechanism because of what he's dealing with. he heavily represses his emotions and uses humour to cope with it, and most times he comes off as insensitive or just plain rude.

gay musical trash Connor’s parents definitely tried their hardest, they were struggling with their grief and when Evan popped up, they’d found someone close to their son who seemed to have *answers.* Jared could’ve stopped, but he never really stopped soon enough. I think the Murphys sort of knew that they were part of the escalation of the mess, which is why they never pressed charges. To be honest, a lot of the characters had a bit of fault in the mess, excluding Alana and Miguel for obvious reasons.

So, my school held a “musical”(it was mostly singing) and I got lead, so I had a “captains checklist”(my script) and the practice before the show it nearly broke- the clipboard nearly fell onto the banisters and broke-

1:48 has that guy even watched Beetlejuice? Her dad refuses to talk about her dead mom, then SLEEPS WITH LYDIA’S LIFE COACH. Lydia doesn’t even know he’s grieving until he tells her at the end of the show! AND THEN CADY. SHE HAS NEVER BEEN TO A REAL SCHOOL BEFORE. GIVE HER A BREAK. Yes, she did some bad things, but she apologizes in the end. I would have blamed Janis, but I have a lesbian crush on her so I can’t.

Totally disagree about Evan Hansen. Sure, he made a huge and unethical mistake, but he's not a villain like people like to say. Can we please stop acting like characters with mental illness are awful? Ok thanks.

Finally, someone said it. The kid has anxiety and is pressured into the lie by Jared. When he tries to deny that Connor wrote the letter, the Murphys don’t let him. Like I get it, he shouldn’t have kept going, but almost everyone else is worse than him. I personally can’t get behind the story of DEH because at the end, all the blame is given to Evan and it drives me nuts. Sorry bout that rant but literally no one agrees with me that I’ve talked to.
