Top notch video! Tim has the soul of a poet, the mind of an genius , and the heart of a punk rocker. I am so grateful for his art from Op Ivy to Rancid to the Transplants. His solo song Into Action is my wife and my go to pick me up song.

Thank you for making such in in depth love letter for Tim Armstrong, because there so many haters out there today who forget that this one man alone has changed the sound we all know and love and that he deserves all the props and respect. Also your right theres no better ska/punk band than Operation ivy - its just fact. chur bro keep up the good work

I think Fat Mike's the genius and Tim is the ultimate craftsman with Lars being the dark-horse natural. Billy Joe Armstrong's kind of the poet of the bunch if you ask me. As far as p*ssing people off goes, I'll say Eminem is punk rock's greatest songwriter. That dude dgaf and only is mainstream because his talent is off the charts. "What I Am" from the Marshall Mathers LP says it all. He's in a world by himself. Tim's in his league though for sure haha, I know exactly what you mean. I also meant to say Glenn Danzig is superbly gifted. On paper his songs seem simple and like anyone could write them but the sound of his songs hold together and grow on the listener like no other. I can't wait until you move on from my little record collection, I've got so much to say after years of no one to talk to hahaha..

Cool as usual dude. The 1st LP doesn’t hold up, but back then with the hype & anticipation it rocked the bay. Still stoked you repping the bay punk scene. Maybe someday you’ll get a dive into Crimpshrine, Sewer Trout, MTX, etc.

I honestly had to pause it, I expected two hours of you sharing your love for his catalogue. I'm waiting for more. Tim is brilliant in his accomplishments, but I am ready to listen to a two hour rant about the original self-titled. That thing carried me through the years, seriously. I'm a quiet loner myself, but please don't be shy, even about why rancid (2000) isn't up there in your opinion. I might choose that one if I had to pick just one. I love how thin and spooked the vibes are, so little fat to trim on it. I'm always wondering, am I making enemies like Don Giovanni? It keeps me in check. I figure if any soldiers took rancid to Iraq and Iran with them, there had to have been some copies of rancid (2000). Hellacious energy on those songs.

Gotta disagree with you there. Rancid 2000 is an incredible record. I hated it when it came out, but over the years I've come back to it more and more. It is an amazing piece of work, but to each their own. However, if you listen to some of the tim timebomb versions of songs from Rancid 2K, you can begin to see why it's an amazing record.
@thepunkrockreview
@thepunkrockreview 6 дней назад
@jamesallred460 that album is bad. There's like 2, maybe 3 songs on it that are good. I've explained why it's bad many times on this channel, so I'm not going to do it again. There are objective reasons it's bad, though, not just my opinions. But I mean, I like bad movies, who cares. But just bc you like something, doesn't mean it's not bad. That's ridiculous. And I'm not trying to be as rude as this is coming off, lol, I'm just so tired of people telling me the album is good with 0 explanation as to why, when I have given my entire reasoning behind why it is not, many many times. Go back and listen to it front to back. If you like it, that's cool, I don't care, but if you can look at something objectively, I'm sure you'll hear the problems. I mean, Rancid is FAR AND AWAY my favorite band, no contest, so I don't like saying it's a bad album. I just refuse to be like "yay, a fast, sloppy, poorly recorded, and poorly executed album is SUPER PUNK ROCK!". That's dumb, they're way better musicians than that. I will make a whole ass video breakdown on this (again) if I need to. Otherwise, peace broski, have a good weekend ✌️😎🏴‍☠️
@thepunkrockreview
@thepunkrockreview 6 дней назад
@jamesallred460 also, if I have to listen to different versions of a song to say it's good, that doesn't mean the album with the bad versions is good... lol, yall wild

He's this super small-time folk artist from this tiny town in California. Made a couple of records that did ok but were then forgotten about by the late 90s, and then he faded into obscurity. I'm just trying to keep his name alive so people don't forget about him.
