the problem with monstrously skilled players reviewing gear is that they seem to be able to make almost everything sound incredibly good. Don't get me wrong I'll watch anything Tim does the guys a beast of a player.. much respect.
Tim. Question if you will: what fret size do you like on your nocaster? I know it's a personal preference thing though for jazz what do you thinks better? Thank you! I'm buying a Suhr tele classic tomorrow (actually for neck size) same model though i have a choice between medium and heavy SS frets. Thank you in advance. Love your playing, music, teaching and all you share. 61 years old musician from Austin Texas Ps. Wanted a Nocaster custom 1999. Found one. Necks just way to thick for me. Was totally bummed. Suhr only tele. that has neck that fits me....
Great vid! Don't know what strings you use but I started flatwounds in October and still find them very discouraging to Blues Licks hopefully I get as good as you one day!
Great sound Tim! I'm guessing those strings are 10-11 gauge? Wondering how the thicker strings you use playing jazz sounds with that amp? That amp is awesome!
Hi Tim, the sound and playing is real cool especially w/oeffects and pedals. Could you demonstrate some best amp that you know/you have to highlight the best jazzy sound, say, like Ed Bickert played? Thanxxxso.
All the nocasters I find have big U shape necks - is that what you're playing? If not, how would I find a nocaster with a slimmer neck profile that lends itself to neck vibrato a little better?
If you are looking for the right body & neck combo, I would build it up. Get the nocaster body and find the neck shape you like. The Fender 55/58 Tele necks are a little thinner profile than the 51/52 necks. 60’s necks are thinner yet but mostly rosewood boards. Go for the maple 69 neck and you would be there.
