My Mom spent 4 years battling ovarian cancer. She never stopped living and spent every day she could with her kids and grandkids. She died at 72 yrs old and 3 months before she died, she was at the beach with family and playing soccer with the kids. Laugh and love while they are here. Save to grief for after they are gone.

His dad wasn't just a Major League Baseball player. He was Tug (F'ing) McGraw. Two time World Series Champion. He got the last batter out in the 1980 Series. He was on the Amazing Mets of 1969. He threw every pitch like it was the most important pitch ever. He pumped his glove on his thigh when he was walking off the field, after another successful inning. He had his issues, but when he was on the mound, he wore his heart on his sleeve.

To this day, I think of Tim as Tugger's kid. Which is ridiculous after so many years, so much success from Tim, and how little involvement Tug had in his life, but I was such a huge Phillies fan in 1980 that I can probably still recognize all the players. (I guarantee that every good Philly Cheesesteak restaurant across the US has a picture of the winning team. And Pete should be in the Hall. Fight me.)

Tug died at Tim and Faith’ house in Tenn.. Tim’s mom was a high school student when she got pregnant by the divorced Tug and her parents sent her to Louisiana to have the baby so Tug had no input on his raising. Tug married again so he has another son, a daughter, a step son and step daughter yet chose to live with Tim in the end.

When my husband was given,, 4 months to live he forgave Chemo because it would have hurried his death with his heart disease. The Dr told him to do whatever he felt like doing and live his life! He had an excellent life enjoying our normal family gatherings with all our children, grandchildren and a couple of great grandchildren. That's what he loved and we'd been doing every weekend for a couple of decades! Our house was always full and full of love and laughter. After he needed oxygen, we just took it with us and visited extended family. His family was his greatest love! The last 3 months were harder as you could see it progressing faster. I had a hospice nurse in2 times a week, but I did all the caretaking and made sure he was in minimal pain. He died in my arms at home. His last words were hold me. I crawled up into the hospital bed and held him and told him I loved him and it was ok to go and not worry, I would take care of the family. He struggled with breathing but last words were I love you, then he was gone. But it's beautiful that our children and grand got to tell him they loved him before he passed.

I was (mis)diagnosed with terminal bone cancer the same week Tim sang this song Live on the CMA's... I watched Tim sing it, I heard Tim's voice, but it was God, speaking directly to me, to my Soul... This was like 2000/2001... I am still alive today, August 2024, able to celebrate my son's 36th birthday and look forward to my 60th on Sept 19th... In that time I've been diagnosed with Lyme Disease, ME, and in August 2009 my heart stopped beating, twice in that same day, and God said He was NOT FINISHED WITH ME YET, so I now have a pacemaker/defibrillator keeping my heart beating and I'm doing absolutely fantastic!! Every single day my eyes open and I'm still here, well, I'm living it as if it were my very last, eagerly awaiting the day's coming adventure. 😊 Much Love! 💖

This song kills me whenever I hear it. It is very reflective of my situation. I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at 43 so it hits VERY close to home with me. I had several friends and family members break down over this song during that time. It’s unfortunate that so many people do wait until something goes horribly wrong before they truly look at their lives and how they live it.

About 23 years ago, my best friend was diagnosed with cancer shortly after his 40th birthday. He had never been a country music fan. When he heard this song, it became his anthem. I'd show up at his house and he'd be dancing around singing at the top of his voice. He lived this song to the end which took 10 long years to fight. I recently was given my own diagnoses and I'm going to try my best to live this song. Thanks for reacting.

The song was written by Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman. The duo had a friend who received a medical misdiagnosis regarding a form of lung cancer. Wiseman and Nichols began discussing family members and friends who learned of illnesses, and how they often had a new perspective on life upon learning that they had limited time remaining. They decided to write a song based on the concept, hoping that it might inspire someone in such a situation.[2] After they came up with the title, they began writing the first verse and chorus.[3] They found themselves attached to the song, and continued to write it late into the night over the phone.[4] "I remember going in my totally dark living room, laying on the floor, and we wrote the second verse on the phone," Wiseman recalled. The inclusion of the lyric about riding a bull was intended as a sort of "palette cleanse," as they felt the chorus was growing too sentimental. The duo judged its creation as a "really spiritual thing, because it came strong. Me and Tim's instincts and intuitions just kept leading us."[2]

Not only losing 3 internal organs in my life (appendix at age 7, spleen at age 28 - where according to my medical records at Arlington Memorial Hospital on Saturday, January 8th, 2000 around 3am for approx. 20 minutes I was pronounced dead & gall bladder at age 45), being diagnosed with HIV on Saturday, March 22nd, 2003 and then being not only being diagnosed with bone cancer (have been in stage 4 for the just more than 3 years and when I officially went to stage 4 in September 2000, I was given only a 2% chance of making it to my 50th birthday - I turn 52 this past June 26th), but on that very day finding out that my father, with whom I had been estranged with since coming back home to Baltimore after my HIV diagnosis and thought he didn't love me had passed away exactly 9 months prior on July 30th, 2018 and no one told me BUT here's why I still try to be positive every day ... 1. It re-affirmed my personal motto of "You will never get yesterday back and tomorrow is never guaranteed. All you have is today and right now, so live every day as if it's your last day on Earth because for all of us the sad truth is that one day will be our last day, He just doesn't let us know what day that will be. 2. After trying out for my favorite game show, starting when the first "Teen Week" was done in 1984 and going through/and attending 27 contestant searches and after not only getting the cancer diagnosis, but finally being properly diagnosed with autism, on Friday, November 8th, 2019, at around 4pm, we taped the episode of "Wheel Of Fortune" that would air on Thursday, December 19th, 2019 (if you type Wheel Of Fortune December 19th, 2019 here on youtube, you can see how i did!) 3. After being diagnosed with cancer and my appearance on wheel of fortune (plus what my final puzzle was), I had no idea that the worst year for almost all of us (2020), turned out to be the best year of my life. During a video call with my younger brother Shane (he lives in Wasilla, Alaska) on September 5th, we talked about how many times we saw our dad cry. When he told me that night after I came home thinking I was going to die that weekend and what my father did that he didn't want to do, I found out that my dad DID love me.

This song makes me cry. This came out after my dad was diagnosed with cancer. One of the few conversations that he and I had that really was deep was about how he felt about this song. He said that it spoke to him. It made my dad cry, this was only the second time in my whole life that I saw Daddy cry. I lost him a few years later but this song makes me cry and smile because I get to have the memory of our conversation. I miss him so!

Written by Craig Wiseman, a Nashville songwriting legend. Craig is the founder/owner of Big Loud Records which is the record label of Hardy and Morgan Wallen, among many other great ones now. He writes at times with both Hardy and Morgan, one of my favorites being Chasin’ You by Morgan. Morgan started it before moving to Nashville but never finished it. He got together with with Craig after signing with them and he tells about how they wrote all night one night only stopping early in the morning because he had to catch a flight! They say Craig is a songwriting genius. The most down to earth guy you’d ever want to meet too. ♥️

I take the perspective on that conversation, maybe in large part to being someone who struggles financially as well as physically, that life doesn't have to mean grand gestures of existence. Living like you are dying could be as simple as just seeing the things in life that are beautiful. Having great friends if you can, reading books, listening to music, drawing pictures, petting animals, etc. I can't do activities with a physical cost but thankfully I can walk my dog and smell the air. I can't afford... well, much of anything, but I try to keep special small treats on hand - especially things I know my mother likes.

Tug McGraw was a very famous Baseball Player. Tim never knew who is father was so he turned his attention to his favorite Baseball Player and had poster all over his room of this man. As he grew older he realized he looked a lot like his favorite player and told his mom that he wished he was his father. His mom realized it was time to tell him that his favorite player Tug McGraw was his father. TRUE STORY! Tug lived in Tampa Florida and went to Moffitt Cancer Center (best in the USA) for his treatments. Unfortunately he lost his fight. Tim said he only had his dad in his for a little while but he actually had be in life well before he met him. GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS!

This song first came out when my dad was fighting cancer the first time and i was a kid. I remember singing it at the top of our lungs in the car through thick tears. Still does it today.

We played this at my daddys funeral. I held it together until this one played and then the tears just flooded

This song came out when I was going through breast cancer. My sister heard it & called me. We both cried but I was blessed we'd caught it early. 💖

I went sky diving 3 days after this song came out and it’s the greatest most peaceful thing I’ve ever done the minute you step out of that plane, where you thought was fear, was actually peaceful and it’s not like falling it’s like the air is holding you up all the way down

His Mom married a man who adopted and raised him as his own. He says his “Dad” was a great Dad but when he found out he wasn’t biological dad he still wanted to meet his biological dad, then he found out he was a mlb player. They ended up having a very sweet relationship and Tim and Faith were with him during his cancer, treatment and end of life. 🙏🏻 if I’m not mistaken?? Tug McGraw didn’t know that he had a son for years and years later

Tim Mcgraw has so many great songs there's too many to count. One of the best in the bussiness. One of my personal favorites is Can't Be Really Gone, such a beautiful but sad song.

I’m proud you got to hear the stories behind Country Music. My mom set out on the old front porch singing as we ran an caught lighting bugs, putting them in a jar. But her singing was always there.

Bro, this is why country music is considered to be old people's music. You just don't realize when you're young and you think it's lame. You're too busy rocking out and living life hard and fast and feeling invincible. You get a little older, you get a little bit wiser, you start seeing life through a different lens, especially when you have a family of your own. It's a rite of passage that is denied to many. I was also one who hated country music until I got old enough to appreciate it. Welcome to the country club brother. 🤚 There's No Going Back

Absolutely love Tim. Amazing voice, great songs, easy on the eyes (lol, sorry). This is a fantastic song, I always smile listening to it. I saw that you've done one song by The Hu. But I'm hoping to convince you to listen to their song "Wolf Totem". The official music video (it's stunning)...but you need the one with the English lyrics cause the words...man, they can word.

My grandma did this song sort of..when she got cancer her and my grandpa put together a bucket list of her hopes dreams and desires. My uncle's, aunts, cousins, and my great aunts and uncles put all their money to her so she could go do it all before she died. She said it was amazing. When they pulled the plug on her all my uncle's and aunts where there. Super tough, first time I saw my dad cry too bc they were basically his parents bc of his parent issues. Super great song and it helps my dad and I.
