The line is, "commodify your gift," as in they want to make the artist's gift a commodity to be sold. Ren's a special bloke for sure, a true generational talent.

I actually think he says "commodify" not "modify", but that fits quite well too. :) He can REALLY sing and he can REALLY rap (and write, and produce, and everything…). His rap ablum Sick Boi reached no. 1 in Britain, just in front of Rick Astley, which is an insane achievement for an indipendent artist. To continue, you can't really go wrong. You could check out the Love Music parts 1-4, Money Game parts 1-3, Chalk Outlines, or just about anything

The thing about Ren is no two songs are the same. Two of my favourites are Losing It, which shows off his rapping skills and Fire which sounds like RHCP.

Ren is COMPLETELY independent & EVERYTHING he sings are his OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, even the sillier tracks have meaning,so yes he had more than 1 doctor telling him everything that was portrayed in that part of the track, hopefully that helps you a little more understand Ren, great show though

Not 'modify your gift'. It's 'commodify your gift'. :) Ren was signed by Sony when he was 19 but his chronic illnesses were already kicking in and although he tried to hide it, it very quickly got to the point where it was impossible. The contract was allowed to lapse. He took what he was hoping would be a short break but ended up bedridden for the best part of 7 years. Although though still chronically ill, a correct diagnosis and treatment has improved things significantly. It wasn't 'all in his head', even though he'd been repeatedly told so. Since emerging from his bedroom, Ren's been determinedly independent. He's fully independent! No label, no financial backing, no PR machine, no management company. Every label under the Sun has tried to sign Ren. He's turned them all down! With Ren it really is all about the music! :) Btw, if you're wondering what his genre is, the answer is 'yes'! lol. :) Ren does every genre and does them all brilliantly! Ren does everything, full stop! He plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well! All self-taught too, apart from 2 childhood guitar lessons and a handful of cello lessons! You haven't heard him properly sing yet, or rap. He has incredible vocals, capable of multiple voices styles and tones. He raps like a rap god, scats and beatboxes brilliantly! He does his own sound engineering and production and is really good at it! His performance skills are first-class and his stage presence is palpable! He directs most of his own videos and many, like Hi Ren, are recorded live, in one take! His songwriting is world-class! Especially his lyricism. He's a poet really and a bloody great poet at that! :) Ren's a unique artist. A musical and creative genius! A once in a generation talent! Definitely react to more Ren! You won't be disappointed. You will be surprised... constantly! :)

Yes, he was basically told it was all in his head. Also, one of his symptoms was severe brain fog, so he responds, “I can’t really think,” instead of something like, “I can’t really think of anything” when he’s asked to come up with a childhood experience. That line always strikes me. He’s describing what he’s experiencing and it flies over the doctor’s head, because of her formulaic thinking. So clever and sneaky.

He is independent but the labels were courting him and wanted to modify Hi Ren. He has signed with The Other Songs, a small independent label where he keeps control and ownership of everything. His most recent release, Troubles, is rap and tells the story of his health issues. After a year and a half, he just finishing up treatment in Canada and heading for YK. Hw will be preforming at Secret Garden Party this year.

Please go deeper down the rabbit hole 🐰🕳️ Crutch, Seven Sins, Lost All Faith, Illest of Our Time, Heretic etc. etc. Everything is great and so different. You never know what he’ll do next, just that it will be brilliant 😅

Man, Ren was supposed to blow up when he was younger. He was unwell and it stopped him from being signed to sony I think it was? So glad he's blowing up because he is unique as hell

If your s Ren fan I think you'd very much enjoy Chester P one of the greatest lyricists to ever come out the uk. He has remained independent underground and largely uknown outside the uk but I would check out The Authorship first followed by Fire in the streets. You wont be dissappointed
