He kind of has a wasted yet elegant look. Sort of like Harrison Ford.

This is one of the few pleasant commercials out on television. Tim Williams has an appealing voice, looks like an everyday person. He does not yell, scream or otherwise do foolish things to embarrass himself or the company. Keep up the good work.

The complaints about Tim Williams and his attire in this video shed quite a bit of light on American culture and expectations these days, and it's god damn terrifying. I didn't think people this shallow, judgmental and downright stupid actually existed. His shirt doesn't even look wrinkled. Google 'wrinkled shirts,' and you will see what a damn wrinkled shirt actually looks like. I didn't notice anything, at all, when I first watched this video until I read an article about people actually giving a shit earlier today and criticizing it for various reasons. It blew my mind. The best I've seen, I think, are people saying he has a 'long torso.' The hell? I don't know if these people are just professional trolls or need serious body image therapy.

First time I saw this commercial I thought it was an erectile dysfunction ad

Those of you who think this guy looks cool and like him just the way he is are the down to earth positive kind of people that this world needs more of.

He wears everyday clothes, speaks in a normal tone of voice, and doesn't do camera tricks to get attention. For those who really want to research a hotel for a vacation this summer, this is a sound choice. Besides, Trivago works fast and gives good discounts.

People are so insecure about themselves. He looks like an average Joe. Nothing wrong with him.

I agree with the comments that he is hot, relaxed and unassuming. He does NOT look like a bum, dirty or otherwise. He looks casual and relaxed and he is believable. It's a refreshing change from all the slick plastic people doing most commercials.

I really don't get all the uproar, and that so many people actually complained about his looks.For one he doesn't look like a homeless guy...He looks like the average guy. I'll admit that his new commercials he is a bit more sleeker, but it's the initial out roar that surprised me.

This guy is my favorite. My husband and I like to wait for the commercial to come on Hulu. We're trying to piece a backstory together for him. For one I'm pretty sure he just got out of a long druken night in the tank.

Man I looked this video up just to see if everyone saw what I did... This guy looks like he drank all night in them clothes, woke up put his shoes on and shot this commercial

I'm sure his clothes, hair and 5 o'clock shadow were all decided for him and not by him. I guess you could rag on him for his subtly awkward disposition, but some appear to find it endearing.

I think he's absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Obviously this commercial is doing extremely well for Trivago, look at all the media attention! I'm sad that the new commercials don't have up front and center...

I think he's extremely attractive. He's like the hottest guy who could conceivably be your next door neighbor. He's not "pretty" (but looks like he used to be). He looks like a guy who was handed an advantage in the looks department, but isn't vain... he went out and lived, got weathered. He looks like he's got mileage, but also like he has been taking pretty good physical care of himself. His realness is unusual in a TV spokesman, and I like that he isn't so slick.

This man has a wonderfully pleasant voice. I thought he might be the son of actor Robert Conrad (TV series "Wild West"). It's amazing to me how much he looks and sounds like him and that is a very good thing as Martha would say. ;`)

I frankly think he's a very handsome man and Trivago is lucky to have found Ted Williams for their commercials. He's not loud or in your face like all the other dumb commercials. Makes me want to rent a hotel room from Trivago....if he comes with it! I've seen a lot of sites where people are complaining about him, suggesting he's unkempt, old, sounds like he just came in from a bender, etc. I suspect this is simply ageism rearing its ugly head. Mr. Williams is not one of the 20-something boy toys seen on so many commercials. He looks like a very in-shape, dressed well but in casual attire, and somewhere between 40-50...exactly Trivago's demographic.

Why would the producers of this commercial have Tim Williams look and dress like he just crawled out of bed from an all nighter of drinking and smoking. Trivago, needs to think next time they make a commercial. Tim did a great job.
