@jasonmetalwaite I completely see where yur coming from, so I'm not actually taking offense to it, the difference is that I was simply shortening words, other than kewl, I just like to spell it that way, where as in the video the band's name isn't shortened and is just straight up spelled wrong. Do you get what I'm trying to say at least?
@Xg0atxc0reX well, my advice would be this: Don't actually try to use swivel as a technique. If you do, you will wind up pushing it to hard, and it will destroy your knees (Its messing mine up, I'm having to change.) Swivel is something that should happen naturally.
All of them Kollias, Roddy, Yeung are awsome. I think that there is no point in comparing. How can you compare greatness with greatness ? :D Nevertheless i like Kollias better than the others :)
@mpourtskaia Nice job replying to a comment that is nearly a year old...And I suppose you are an almighty master of drums, who is the only one that can have an opinion?I would love to see you do the double bass he does. You obviously don't understand that triggers don't make you go faster, they just amplify the sound, making your hits much clearer(and much easier to notice mistakes).
@filitalian ye man ur prob rite.. i think ITDS is the best one..toy's drumming was killer..the blastin, odd double bass, twin ride and saw cutter blades..lots of folks have covered drum parts from almost very band.. have u noticed thers hardly anythin from this album... and yup it certainly dint sound typewriter ish!!!
Tim Doesn't do blastbeats as much (isn't a bad thing at all) and he makes it up with good hand work. George Kollias, however, has the ability to do both (but just chooses to excel in blasting). All in all, Tim and George are Equal.
@vacateistheword Shrines and Black Seeds had a more organic sound. The bass wasn't triggered as far as I know - didn't sound as typewriter ish. Props to Gene Hoglan too.
I'm not going to bullshit on and on about who can do what etc etc. And I can't post atm because I dont have a camera but I can only do the 32nd note pedals on Bomb Blasts when I swivel. xo.
No man.. not a prob at all its ur opinion.. i really cant say whose better.. all i wanted to say was if any1 could do what george is capable of this is the man... my all time fav is Tony Laureano tho :-)
dunno... since is pretty good and was self taught I can´t say... but another foot technique other than swivel can work better for him??? Just an exanple mate...
@lucariololol certainly in speed and technique, now i haven't heard to much of tims work other than DH but in DH the drums seems a bit less creative as the guitar and drums allmost all the time plays the exact same notes. Either way i digg both DH and tim but i would love to what else he has to offer...
I like the both ones very much, only thing about Tim wich I don't like is he has his beaters set pretty near the head. I just like more power myself, but altho Tim is awesome and so is George
Nice swivel technique. See, he is an actual drummer, not a tapper. Look at how he and people like George Kollias drum compare to drummers like Inferno.
@uxy1 uhhh noo dude. drummers like george kollias and derek are god, but lets be honest there mostly blasts in there songs, tim is so much more than that, he actually does sick beats in his songs and has so much creative shit
I don't want to start a childish fight or something, just give my opinion, I think Roddy is better the George because he plays almost all kinds of music :)
totally.. they seem to have lost it a bit now tho..their music is a lot less atmospheric than what it used to be say in Black seeds n Shrines.sumehow for me they've jaded..still theyre one of the best out there..nothing beats Chuck & Death anyway :-)
@vacateistheword I'll probably get slammed for this, but Kollias has an edge on him in speed, although yeung may be better on the starts and stops w/ his feet. just check out the vid 'george kollias and nile'
Well... Kollias' foot speed and technique is better than Roddy's but that's not the only reason why I prefer Kollias over Roddy. Irregardless, all 3 are great drummers!!!
I can do that blast? It's not actually that amazing aha Listen to the first blast on the song Kafir! by Nile (their new album) Now thats a fast blast! xD xo.
@MOPchickenbutt There is no such thing as a 'best metal drummer' one guys got speed, the other got incredible feeling or technique, another makes great fills, so stop lying to yourself...
george has incredible speed....and nothing else. his playing is blase. i respect his speed and technique but i get extremely bored with his playing. and nile themselves music wise can not even begin to match DH. Thats why I love Tim so much he doesnt showboat like most metal drummers do when they just lay down stupid fills trying to squeeze in as many notes and hit every tom possible. He actually plays with his band. making the song sound good instead of four dudes fighting to outdo each other.
