" How could anyone go wrong" -------Allow me to enlighten you. 2003 with 18K miles means this: The car was simply not driven which means all the mechanical moving parts (engine, trans, and forty more) have been in a coma. Like a human, the parts designed to move have to routinely move on a consistent basis or they deteriorate - they don't awake and perform as new. All the seals and gaskets have dried out because the car was not driven allowing proper lubrication of them. How long has been gasoline been allowed to remain this car = long term is very bad = it will eventually crystalize and gum up everything. It would be a better find if the car had 100K miles + it's a Buick which was a very well built car.

Bought a 2002 Century last year with only 45k original miles on it for $6,000 - these cars and the 3100 V6 engines are awesome. They aren't flashy and "cool" but they're bulletproof and reliable! I just swapped the original 21 year old spark plugs this weekend and it was a great feeling keeping this old car alive and running.

I remember these cars brand new. This was unofficial official car of Sanford Me in the late 90s early 2000s. I remember a silver 01 custom with a black presidential full canvas top brand new. Restored two. The early ones had chrome molding inserts and heavier moldings with chrome on the body side, emblems on the doors upper windows and decklid. FUN FACT the chief designer of this car was Wayne Kady who designed the 67, 71, 79, and 86 Eldorado, the 80 Seville personally as well others including the 92 Roadmaster sedan and THIS CAR.

That's a beautiful Buick, still looking great even after 20 years since new. This could be considered the Raquel Welch of used cars! I just hope and pray that some inexperienced twenty-somethings do not get their hands on it and start doing crazy things to it (like putting on 22-inch rims or plopping some dummy chrome grille on the front). This car should be left as is! _(2/16/2023)_

That is a good find! I was watching and said Buick's Toyota Camry, and then you said it right after I said it. I laughed.It is great when you can find cars like this. Century was like LeSabre and Regal was like Park Avenue from that era. I thought the color used to be called neutral. You are telling the truth about cars in this video. This car is almost like new. This generation went back to how things were set up at Buick in the past with the Century/Regal lines on the same platform. That car is quiet, smooth and effortless. Thank you for sharing. I am looking for a 1991-1992 Oldsmobile Toronado non Trofeo model myself.

Love this Century. You are so right. We don't need all the stuff on our cars that we have now. Just the basics. As far as gas mileage is concerned, I would think it would get about what my 2004 Grand Prix got - 30 to 32 on the highway, 19-20 around town. I think my overall average for the 5 years I had the GP was around 25 mpg.

I saw an ‘05 last year at a Buick dealership In Michigan with under 3K miles the same color with chrome wheels. I saw it online Friday evening and when I called Monday morning they had sold it! The salesman I spoke to said they sold it for $8,900. I was soo mad! I found an ‘04 Limited a few months later here in Indiana with 26K for even less $$ and it is completely rust free which is impressive for Indiana and I will keep it that way as I won’t drive it in the winter months. It is the perfect second car for a traditional car lover. It rides almost as well as my Park Avenues I had years ago, actually better than the one that had the stiffer Gran Touring suspension.

I just finished a lease on a 2020 with all the latest gadgets I never used and others I hated, like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control. I have one, looks like new, with 160K miles; purchased it 15 yrs. ago with 61k miles. Always garaged, washed every week, waxed every six months, maintained to perfection = you take care of it, it will take care of you. The cost, new, for the 2003 Century was ~$23K. Literally one of the best cars I've owned in regards to comfort, reliability and ease of maintenance w/reasonable cost. The ONLY problem with this 2003 @ 18K miles is that it was driven less then 1K miles a year. NOT driving a car is a bad idea as the seals and gaskets dry out and the moving parts don't get their needed "exercise."

The lack of tail light badge is due to the early cars having twin badges on the rear quarter panels. I forget which year they made the change to the single badge on the light bar, but if I recall correctly the reason was to save cost.
@tyler2610
@tyler2610 Год назад
2003-2005 had the badge on the tail light. They only had to use one instead of 2 and I think it looked better. The moldings on the ‘97-02 were pretty chunky. They did the same thing with the LeSabre and just removed them on the Park Avenue rear quarter but did add a chrome badge with the name over the license plate in ‘05.

SFI does mean Sequential Fuel Injection, there’s both a cam and crankshaft sensor that lets the computer know when the intake valve is opening, it fires the port injector for that cylinder only at that time. Better economy, emissions, and horsepower. 3100 will run until you don’t want it anymore, then keep going for the next owner.

Such a clean example and underrated car, I’m so Glad you got a hold of one! This is the kind of car I would buy if I needed one. 6:11 For Information on the Taillight, for the 2003 model GM removed the Century logo from the door (which used to be on the front driver and passenger of the late 1990’s to 2002 model years) and placed it on the rear tail light from 2003 up to the last model.

Car Wizard claims that engine in the Century can get over 300K miles and maintenance is low. I kept my mother's after she passed away. Anyone buying it I highly recommend a Ziebart rustproofing. They are notorious for rusting out on the rocker panel behind the front wheels. Water gets inside the unibody construction in that area behind the rocker panel piece that is below the doors.

The exact same bod .but the regals had a small difference in the front end of the car. But parts interchanged with one another. They also had a optional 3.8 engine from the 3.1 97 to its long run till 2005 It was one of GM's best midsized cars for its time. It will go over 300,000 easy. Just take care of it... God bless !!

That car is indeed a survivor! What a little gem! I have a '98 Buick Regal LS that shares the platform with the Century. The Regals all have the venerable 3800 V6, and mine has over 330k miles! The Regals have more standard equipment than the Centuries. The Regals are also all equipped with counsel shifters, and have steering wheel controls for the stereo. Although the chrome around the taillights is unique to the Centuries, but you can swap them to a Regal! Mine gave me 8 years of reliable and comfortable driving! She's definitely been a great car. I bought a super low mile '04 Buick Park Avenue, and am giving the Regal to my nephew. He's gonna be the 3rd generation of people in my family to drive it (I bought it from my parents)! I agree that the new cars have no soul, no real excitement!

It finally rusted out so badly we had to replace it. Never had any major problems with it. Just routine maintenance. Anyone who buys this will be getting a good car. Hopefully it will continue to be used sparingly to keep it nice. It would be a shame to run it into the ground as you cannot find them anywhere, especially in this condition.

Beautiful car at a great price. Would you rather have a Kia at double the price?

The Buick Century is similar to the 4th Generation Ford Taurus. Simple, comfortable and lasted forever. Traditional V6’s None of this turbo crap we have today.

Yeah, the Taurus had 4 slight redesigns (2 major ones) but the Century was around just like this as the competitor of the 1996-2007 Taurus Model Years. I like more modern cars like the Century or Taurus which resemble nice remedies of the past like the bench seats.

This thing will get over 30MPG highway without breaking a sweat. Simple and reliable transportation. And looks great too I wouldn't mind owning this little car.

Did they have overdrive? I heard the prior generation didn’t.

For $11000 with 18000 miles, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal anywhere. I had that 3.1 V6 in my 92 Lumina and those motors are just about bulletproof

OMG really nice Century! Figured somebody bought it already. I'd kill to have those seats in my '19 Impala. Today's seats with all the bolstering and not much cushing. Don't nag on Blind Spot or cross traffic alert, great features. The nanny features are lane departing and adaptive cruise control. Does the passenger wiper end not touch windshield? A design flaw of that model.

The engine in that thing is one of the best ever made by GM. It was developed by Buick and will last a long ling time. This generation Century was built very well and is very reliable. A high quality car that was consistently rated very high along with Lexus'. Anyone who buys this will be very happy. Not as happy as with a Caddilac Sedan DeVille d'Elegance, but still very happy. A very nice solid car. Deserves a garage btw.
