I do want the bengals to sign chase but he still has 2 yrs left on his old one,when he signed the first one he basically gave his word that he would play for a certain amount of time,now he wont play until he gets a new contract..sounds like his word and signature doesnt mean much.

It's standard procedure to not expect a new deal til the beginning of the last year. If he's asking for a 3 year deal instead of 4 years, would you want the Bengals to do that? It's clearly in the Bengals best interest to let him play out this year and then pay him. He'll command top dollar either way. The only way you sign him this year is if it's 4 years and the upfront benefits the team.

He deserves a new deal and he will get it. But I would never allow any player to blackmail me or try to coerce me into one. He is a Bengal for two more years and he has no cards to play. When we are talking either a 3 or 4 year deal it becomes interesting. If ja'marr signed a 3 year deal including his 5th year rookie contract year he would be 28 yrs old going into his 29 years old season. That could be the difference in ja'marr getting another nice contract. I understand that from his side. From the Bengals side that extra year would be great for the team to spread the money out like James said. Also that 4th year would likely be a even bigger bargain for the team to the future receiver market. Well see how it plays out.
Correct hes got 2 years to go. Technically a franchise tag after that. However thats not the issue here cause eventually hes gonna get paid. I agree to the lack of practice by Ja'marr Chase is impacting the offense and how it's preparing for the season. i also worry about injury to Ja'marr Chase entering into the regular season without all of these reps and potentially not being in shape to handle the workload... I hope I'm wrong. But what I will say, based on how Ja'marr chase is waiting so long, I think his only play at this point is to hold out of games during the regular season until he is paid. Don't go this far saying I'm not playing until I get a contract extension and then show up for week 1, you gotta take this thing all the way and be comfortable with taking the entire season off if the Bengals won't meet your demands. At this point they are demands, rather than a want. Take it all the way, Chase, or I'm gonna be pissed at you wasting the entire teams time if you decide to come play week 1 without an extension.
I have zero issues with Chase getting paid, but when you look the percentage of the cap that Burrow and Chase will take up by themselves it gets kind of concerning.
Question: Is the offseason at a point if Chase were holding out, he'd be getting fined? I haven't heard about fines.... so just wondering if this is a case where the Bengals are "good" with the situation and an indication of work behind the scenes being positive? Its his third year -- its not time to pay him. Should we ignore that he's been injured the past two seasons for several weeks? I think the Bengals are being more patient with him than I would. Guys, this is standard for the Bengals because unlike the Rams, Broncos, and so many other teams that use guaranteed money and void years to bloat the contracts, the Bengals want to pay their guys and really pay every dime. That is why it is so difficult---they cant go to a bank and say ".Lets borrow 300 million so we can make stupid contracts to stubborn players because others do the same". Bengals have to make every dime make sense. Just my opinion.

You mention all of Chase's strengths but fail to talk about his weakness which I think is his hands. He tends to drop catches and fumble the ball a lot more than the other elite recievers. As an example, watch the play against the Chargers from 2 years ago where he bobbled a touchdown catch and let the defender grab it for an interception, the ball just popped right out of hands and to the cb. That play was so atrocious it's still stuck in my mind. Overall, my opinion is Jefferson is better.

We all know every high end/ Superstar NFL player holds out before there contract is up, he's just holding out earlier than most. I mean they gonna pay him anyway, so may as well get it done now before Ceedee Lamb gets something higher than Jefferson and then their paying way more. Only players that don't hold out are marginal players, and we clearly know that Jamarr ain't no marginal player. He's easy top 2 or 3 at his position. Definitely top 5
