I know it was a off-handed comment, but rally cars do tend to use heavier-than-average flywheels (and IIRC, even heavier in sand dominated climates) in order to ensure the engine doesn't stall when lugging.

@@Leynad778 I hope it will. I will most certainly pick up the game (the actual complete edition, not half the game for 50€) at a later date on sale. Still, a business model like this would never float outside of the gaming industry, it is outright disgusting.

@@Leynad778 Well, iracing's pricing is another story in itself; it held me back from investing (I cannot say "bought" for one has to both buy and rent it) any money in it. But I agree, sim racing is more expensive than other video game genres. This being said, I will soon spend 70€ on the F-14 Tomcat for DCS World... However, just the idea of purposely withholding finished (albeit slightly updated) content from your paying customers (who pay the full price for half a game!) is despicable. Therefore, I will not even get it on a Steam sale, I will get it from a resaler.

I use group b on controller I beat all my friends with wheels :) it’s all about practice, I tried a few of these stages with my controller and same car and Jimmie and got a few seconds faster!! It’s all about practice with what you got! :)

I've always found double finger on triggers and the "claw technique" is best for console racing. Too cheap for a wheel so i break my fingers just to play 😂

The first stage in the rs200 you were suffering from left to right hand drive perspective shift coupled with the switch from medium power RWD to a high powered 4wd. Takes some resetting of your driving style. You drive extremely well brother.

I've been racing the 205 evo after the initial FWD rally. I've noticed, that especially with that car, if you drive "slow" and safe, you are very fast. I rarely have to redline that car. Also, the first engine upgrade is a must on it, without it it's such a laggy car. Anyway, wanted to say, I don't think that the 205 or the lancia are that hostile, they just have to be driver carefully and have plenty of "reserve power" if you need it on some straight or fast section. For me the quattro feels very understeery. Also...had the sound bug 3 times already and rain is over the top in this game. Are we sure the stages aren't in england based on how often it rains?

I find the Lancia quite unwieldy, but the T16 and I get along very well. I like the RS200 most, but I'm terrible at driving it, I find it's very bouncy. The Audi is the heaviest feeling, and the best with the bumps, but that heft gives it that understeer. I haven't tried the MG yet

The turbo-powered cars are really sluggish on the Argentinian stages. Because they are so slow and twisty, you can never really get the revs high enough to make boost.

This game is awsome, and I'm really good at it now, but I still hate that in only 1 in 12 runs or so, I can drive through a whole stage without the computer seeming to just kick the car off the track in a corner your already under driving. SO Frustrating!! Or perfectly straight on a level ramp yet somehow the car yaws and smashes you squarely into the rock on the shoulder. Some stages the computer tries much harder to suck your car off the track than others, and I dont even mean those built in low grip spots that dot every course.

At the moment, this is proabably equal with WRC 9 for current rally games. DiRT has more cars, and more variety in gameplay with the rallycross stuff, but WRC 9 handles a bit more realistically, and has all the real life WRC stuff. WRC 9 also has longer stages. It's pretty much down to opinion.

the rally just before 1 hour mark was and is one hell of blinding fcking run, don`t be too hard on your self getting big car like that though roads and terrain like that is probley one of the hardest rally roads on earth. I love your double right foot action when you operate the brake and throttle at the same time but I`am not familiar with this driving advanced driving technique what is it`s purpose? and small hatch back would probley do better on that track right. hmmm Lanica delta ?

What he does with his right foot is heel & toe and basically allows you to rev match for the downshift while also using the brakes. Rev matching is raising the engine speed by tapping the throttle allowing for a smoother downshift BTW. Hope I got it right and sorry that I'm a year late.

Dirt Rally 2 career has been ruined by an awful algorithm. It’s impossible to win, or even get close to the ‘Leaders’. Such a shame because the game used to be very good, but now there’s no joy in coming 28th, and equally no joy in moving up the Leaderboard, because the algorithm is nonsense.

You chose the most difficult stage and car to drive and on the mud. You need to accelerate slower than usual. Good driving though. This stage is fun to drive downhill, don't know if it exist in this game.

Joking aside, try riding the clutch. To expect such a heavy car to spring back into life with full throttle and no clutch is gonna put a lot of stress on the compression. If there is a lot of bite and you are slow on the ground, it doesn't matter if you are giving full fuel, the engine simply can't turn over quick enough. Either keep the wheels spinning or ride the clutch until you have full equilibrium.
