The beauty of Loathe....you have a song like this and the very next track on the album "Gored" is the most violent and brutal song on the album with absolutely no cleans and full out snarling guitar and drum attack This whole album is absolutely brilliant and we're all still waiting for its follow up 4 years later...
"I Let It In And It Took Everything" is my favorite album of all time. If you don't end up reacting to the whole album, then I feel "New Faces In The Dark", "A Sad Cartoon", "I Let It In And It Took Everything...", and "Heavy Is the Head That Falls With the Weight of a Thousand Thoughts" are musts from this album. Love the videos man, have a great day/afternoon/night!
Agreed. Love the pfp and user handle as Sleep Token has been my favorite band for years, but Loathe’s ILIIAITE since it’s release has been my all time favorite album. Absolutely unreal experience with decent headphones. Had to buy the instrumental version to get all the tiny nuances you can’t quite catch with the vocals invloved. Unreal fucking production and songwriting.
love this kind of shoegaze metal , the album is really good at this sub-genre. A Sad Cartoon, Two-Way Mirror, Screaming and the title track I Let It in and It Took Everything are songs I often listen when Im out for a walk or biking.
That should be two different singers between verses and chorus if I am not mistaken. I can't wait to see them live along with Spiritbox in January. I'd recommend "Screaming" if you want to try another song by them. Cheers
I never heard the original before this reaction. Listening to it, I can absolutely see why Vessel wanted to cover it. The song sounds like the type of music he was trying to do with ST. With the mixture with different elements like the synths, and the heavy riffs, and the giant chorus.
Hot take but the original is WAY better than the sleep token version. This isn’t to diss vessel or anything, but the problem with his covers is his voice is the entire cover. I understand that the point of it is supposed to just be “guy with piano” type music, but when you’re covering a song from a band like loathe, a singer and a piano just sounds… boring. Loathe is all about the deep, beautiful guitar tones and lush synths. You don’t get that with a piano and a (very upfront and showoffy) singer.
I concur, I much prefer the original. But tbh I’m not a huge fan of Sleep Token. I like maybe 2-3 sleep token songs max, otherwise the voice is usually too much for me
@@heathcoatscookiebag7429 yeah… I kinda agree. I feel like I’ve liked older sleep token songs in the past, but I feel like they’ve so over processed vessel’s voice that it just sounds so badly produced. Not to mention their recent songs have felt pretty generic.
There's a mix on RU-vid and I'm sure elsewhere with Vessels vocals but the piano in his is replaced with the full Loathe band. It's currently my favorite version.
finally! yeah i've always thought this way too. The original version gives off much more of that emotional feeling, that pain. Sure, ST's version might sound good, but for me it felt empty compared to the original.
