Safe to say this is my favourite song ever and seeing the 8yr live copy of it get deleted from RU-vid completely broke me, so I found it to upload again! Hope you enjoy as much as I do. :)
@@ironcladappreciator1715 not exactly, the mind electric/ITMOS was cut from marvin’s because of budget constraints, stranded lullaby/our lullaby was never intended for tally hall as it was meant for joe’s ex who he was still in a relationship with at the time, and this song was possibly considered for good and evil at one point but it’s unconfirmed I think.
With every earlier version of this song I find, I get angrier and angrier that the final version is what we ended up with. Demo 1 is full of charm, Demo 2 is haunting with fascinating lyrics, Demo 3 is incredibly catchy, and this version has arguably the best arrangement/instrumentation, similarities to all 3 demoes, a better lead up to the chorus, and phenomenal vocals. And with all these incredible early versions, we really ended up with THAT on the album???
Too bad this doesn’t have the vid associating with it. I think I remember seeing it here on youtube before a lot of old TH stuff got purged. It’s amazing how this song was in Cantor’s head long before its full appearance in hawaii part ii. Time machine is an appropriate name for one that’s gone through so many changes. someone actually did a mashup of the third demo and the proper release. they complement each other so thematically. I suggest giving it a listen
Oh wow I didn’t know there was a video to the audio! Makes me really sad that I never got to see it :( By any chance to you have the link to the mashup???
Approximate Lyrics: Look, oh, look at what you’ve done now to me, Dead tired and ornery, I’m leaving today, today Thinking of the way I used to spend the time, I can see that I have overpaid Oh, just look, oh, look at what you’ve done now to me, Free floating temporally, I’m leaving today, today I avoid the messiness of misery, Working in dimension number four-our, I [can’t/won’t] get any older, I’m [stuck at a constant rate] today! Ooh, live the dream in a Time Machine, you’ve been waiting forever, But you can make ever wait for you, Do what you wanna do, Ooh, live the dream in a Time Machine, we’ve been waiting forever, There’ll be time enough to spend some time alone. Wait, I await for all eternity, [Withstand this/this endless] modernity, [Forever/We’re ever] today, we’ll stay, [Now I know] thy nature of emergency, Now I know why now is never gone, go, I [can’t/won’t] get any older, I’m [stuck at a constant rate] today! Ooh, live the dream in a Time Machine, you’ve been waiting forever, But you can make ever wait for you, Do what you wanna do, Ooh, live the dream in a Time Machine, we’ve been waiting forever, There’ll be time enough to spend some time alone, all alone, All alone, Time alone… OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Ooh, live the dream in a Time Machine, you’ve been waiting forever, Ooh, live the dream in a Time Machine, you’ve been waiting forever, Ooh, live the dream in a Time Machine, you’ve been waiting forever…
As much as I love the official version of time machine the demos and and this are so good, crazy how the same song can be performed in so many different ways
You’re so right the energy it has compared to the properly produced time machine is so amazing they’re the same song but so drastically different it’s amazing
@@holystonks YEAH it's so cool !! this song is probs my fave tally hall song ever hahah. it's so insanely versatile, like it sounds SO good played in so many different ways, it's so fuckin fantastic
Bro why did the song get worse as time went on, this version absolutely SLAPS. I mean regular HPII Time Machine is great but it was so much better without the electronica
The only part that got worse is the solo after the first chorus, imo (although it’s still the best part) In this version the chords are a lot less satisfying, and the shorter verses make it less cohesive (imo)
@@naate2 Late, but that would likely be Just Apathy, being performed by Rob all the way back in 2002! (I think it was 2002 -- Somewhere around that time.) (Only counting songs that ended up getting officially released on an album, of course -- not songs that were only ever demos.)
I have a question. Do you have any background on the album cover that you used or the album itself? Did you just take the image or do you have access to the album itself? Please reply if you can!!!
Hi!! I wasn’t sure what image to use for the background initially because the audio came from an untitled mp3 file so just looked at what other live tally hall content and demos had for their videos and went off that so I did just take the image from that :))
I’ve genuinely searched days and days for it over the last few years but haven’t found it anywhere, even got so far as a clip of them doing the kazoo song on the day they did this performance but Time Machine’s video isn’t anywhere!! It’s annoying but I’m glad there’s at least this :))
It was on RU-vid originally but the channel that uploaded got deleted so I dug a bit and found a site with a bunch of mp3 files of unreleased songs and stuff, this was mixed in with it!!! I was expecting this recording to be lost forever so I think I just got lucky
