She cries when her heroes die. I read Master Harper twice...back to back. And I cried when Master Harper Robinton died. Then I found the audio book read by Anne McCaffrey. I stopped my housecleaning and sat down to weep with Anne as she read of the death of Robinton. THAT is how well she wrote. Her characters come to life for the reader. I miss looking forward to new books from Anne McCaffrey.

I had the opportunity to read her short story Beyond Between to a group of her fans. Without spoilers, I could not stop myself from crying as I read certain parts. Anne said it here, she infused her books with emotion. And I think she included and expressed it very well.

Mamma Kaye Lee I can’t even THINK about Robinton dying, without tearing up.

Thank you for posting this. I'm a huge fan of Anne McCaffrey and I've never had the chance to see her or hear her voice. This has been a real treat. I'm going to pull Crystal Singer from the shelf and re-read it. (My Favorite!) Have yourself a wonderful day! You've made mine!

This was when Anne McCaffrey was just really hitting her stride; coming into her power as a writer. Awesome. TYVM.

She was a lovely lady, I had tea with her, we talked for two hours. (I just knew her as Anne) I later went to a book signing where she was. When I got up to the table I was like "Annie?" All she said was Hi ray, how have you been?

Anne is a great writer. Pern is still first class fantasy and science fiction. It's absurd how many stupid stories and bad writing gets adapted to modern film and video games when there's such an abundance of great writing out there. McCaffrey is just one of thousands.

An interesting interview. I have read a romance story she once wrote, as well as a children book about horses and King Arthur. I read 'The Ship Wgo Sang' yesterday for like the 10th time, and also cried.

Nice interview. Hard to tell her personality by the photo on her novels. This you sure can see her charming personality.

I was one of those who bought The White Dragon in hardback because I was unwilling to wait - in fact I preordered it!

J'ai lu Anne McCaffrey dans les années 90s mais je n'avais jamais entendu sa voix... Ca donne envie de relire les dragons, les doués ou la chanteuse crystal !

Interesting. I would describe her works as fantasy, rather than science fiction.

Pern is a tiny part of her output, she is far more of a Sci Fi writer than a Fantasy writer, see The Rowan series, The Ship Who series, etc...

She considered herself a Sci Fi writer. I think she perceived a stigma with fantasy. Perhaps she had found Sci Fi so much a challenge for a woman to break into that she never wanted to relinquish the title once she had earned it.

Though I've never read a single book of hers, at least no yet anyways. I'm very sure she was nothing like what we unfortunatly have today
