The universe does not die at the point we call its heat death, that just marks the point at which it has finished transforming across to patterns propagating through the quantum foam and the "edges" that it rotates around to do this are the event horizons of black holes. The mass-energy of the holes is converted to information because their evaporation also produces a cascade of particle annihilation that propagates through the foam. If the state of the system must be zero and one pair member is lost to the accessible universe the remaining one must interact with the member of another pair to balance things out, which then produces another "lost" pair member that does the same, this partner swapping ripples outward from any event horizon and carries information with it. In fact if we are able to manipulate the probabilities of that process, or the geometry of the event horizon in any way then we can program the initial state of that wave of propagating information. We can treat the entire universe as a Turing complete automata fabric at the resolution of the quantum foam. So at the end of conventional space-time does the foam remain, or even keep expanding, and if so what if we have induced such processes into the foam before then have we not created something capable of intelligence and also immortal? Is this not actually a scientifically plausible mechanism for sentient beings to transition to a post physical state?
