Good video, i totally agree, use the sponge not the dirty water to quick start an aquarium nitrogen cycle. I have media bags with matrix or ceramic media buried in my substrate with air stone running through it and use these when starting a new tank

do you find that at times a pungy smell comes from the filter and sponge itself?

With so many sponges for sale which ones fit aquaclear, sunsun filter?

Does the sponge just slow down the water flow of the filter?

How often do you clean them?
