I have watched many of Andrew SPW's videos these last few weeks. All these 4x4 youtubes build and info are the same no matter whom does it. What is exceptional about Andrew is the way he puts it all across; it just beats everyone else by furlongs. Keep up the good shows Andrew, you do it with all your energy and passion.

It took me a while to notice that between leaving the dealer in Perth (@1:30) and talking about the bull bar (@19:30) you’d replaced the oval Toyota emblem with the simpler ‘TOYOTA’ badge on the grille. Very smart!

Andrew that is very true, you carry recovery equipment an always help other people out. I'm on 3rd tow rope / belt, all ao them was used and some damaged helping other people out. And it think when it comes to the winch, a person would rather use the winch instead of other methods, is because of ease-of-use. Thanks for the good video.

Loved your Landcruiser history video. I do hope one day you decide to do a 200, and set it up exactly how you wish (extend/tray etc). My history is: as a 17y.o. in 1997 my father bought a “fishing 4WD” which essentially ended up as mine. It was a straight six FJ40. I used my entire wage each week on petrol...90l to get to work, and another 90l 4WDing with friends in Tassie on the weekend. Don’t regret it one bit. Since then: BJ73, RAV4, Prado120 underpowered diesel, FJ Cruiser (amazing fun, but a struggle for a family of 5) and now I’m very grateful to own a 200VX V8 Diesel...and it’s incredible. Despite many years of 4WDing, this year I get my first chance at a Simpson crossing. Love getting in for a drive, for no reason. Very much understood that. Thanks for your work!

Some good things here ! I'm very jealous of the Hella haul. Noted you noted the bracket robustness! I've lost many lights to bracket fatigue and had already selected some mean Hella integrated LED integrated headlights for my present build. For multinational use I'm also now sold on having two independent sets of headlights avoiding compromise with sticky plastic lens shields.

Hi Andrew, wow what a great bunch of products. The tyre inflator with the digital gauge is smick but get a cable tie or a big lacky to hold the lever down to inflate the tyres. Otherwise you are kneeling to inflate your tyres. With the flash tanks and double pump that'll be quicker than my single one, but the lacky will be worth it. Can't wait for the engine bay improvements. Cheers Graeme

Andrew, you're absolutely right about the light color. I do lighting design for both indoors and roadways in the Arctic and one of my biggest frustrations is that no one is making lower Kelvin LED driving lights. The rods in our eyes that are responsible for most of our night vision are several times more sensitive to blue light than to red. So it takes much less blue light to see by at night, the flip side is that it doesn't take much blue light to kill our night vision. This is why aircraft cockpits and military flashlights use red lights, it has almost no effect on night vision. Here in the far north we have another issue, which is snow. With snow on the ground anything over about 4,000K color just washes out and you can't see ruts or drifts. So I'm waiting to put LED upgrades on my 4Runner until someone offers them in 4,000K or even better 3,000K color. I look forward to hearing how the 5500K lights work out, but I'm afraid they'll be no perceivable difference from the common 6,000K+ lights.

Hi Andrew, you probably already know this problem, but when you put your lights up on the bar work behind the cab, I found that the bottom part of the light beam comes into the back window of the cab and lights up inside, so I made 2 aluminum flat plates up with a right angle along one edge and sprayed them black and I attached the to the bar work directly under the lights and this worked a treat, no more light in the back window !! Just thought you might like to know mate. Seeya Rob

Winches are important to me. We do a great deal of beach camping in Qld and almost always solo. With a large trailer (Austrack Savanah X), the cut into many of the sites from Bribie to Frazer can be tricky just at that point of the angle where the transfer (weight/power) to the back wheels just digs you in when dealing with the really fine soft sand. Really the only time I have ever had to use the winch on myself is with the trailer. Thankfully have never needed a self-recovery when not towing. Still nice to have when soloing. Enjoy the new rig.

Hi Andrew, looks like you are prepping yourself a nice truck, you should try Torsen diffs on this one, you won't believe how much it will improve your grip on overlanding and especially when it get hairy in sand or mud. With that long wheel base you don't want a be using difflocks which will increase even your gigantic turn radius. I tried them front and rear on my mid base KZJ73, and whished i had them on all my landcruisers, Lc80 and 100 instead of OEM locks and traction control.. Enjoy your build
@seanfrench1029
@seanfrench1029 4 года назад
The compressor air reservoir principle is correct. It does speed up the inflation process. The same principle is used filling many air cylinders (ie scuba tanks) with an inline air bank. If the filling is interrupted when changing tanks, the compressor tops up the air bank (reservoir) further which allows decanting/boosting when connecting the next tank. That little ally tank is quite neat - provided you have the space in your vehicle to mount it out of the way.

Hi Andrew, love the channel, I have a tip for you for your GME antenna. Keep the cap that is fitted to the spring base, yes the one that says to remove & discard, it's the right size to fit over the threads on the antenna, it will protect them when you need to store it. Cheers.

I have ARB dual air compressor and tank in my rig. I recommend to mount tank vertically with inlet on the bottom with a drain and the outlet on the top Very important in a high humidity environment. I also run paint gun air dryers on my locker air lines to prevent corrosion and freezing up here in Canada.

Nice truck !! * First divide the space into 3 areas. * Access to these areas should be to the sides, back and above. * In one of the lateral area should be space for the kitchen, small kitchen tools, small refrigerator and cutting table. * In the back area, there should be room for recovery tools and spare tires. * At other side area should be space for vehicle repair tools, dirty clothes and shoes, the shower and space to take away the garbage. (eco-Friendly idea) * Above these areas, the roof tent should go, it shouldn't go so high, so it doesn't compromise the aerodynamics of the vehicle and the folding roof in one side. For the space above the cabin, a roof bar could go, to place solar panels and extra water and gasoline drums. (if require) hope this ideas help you through your proyect.
