"I'm falling more and more in love with her the crazier she is" SAME.... akane is my forever favourite from this title even after reading the manga, she is just so interesting and wild
Some nice little details: During the performance, Ruby saw Kana's frowning expression and tries to point it out to her during the performance without breaking character (she points at her own smile, but looks Kana in the eye for a moment). After seeing Aqua, Kana pops off in the same way Ai did during the studio recording in episode 1, when she got even the staff by surprise. You can see there is (veiled) mutual admiration in the Kana x Akane rivalry, from the way they talk about each other in this episode and even as far back as episode 7, when Kana talks about "schadenfreude". They put each other in a pedestal and as a result, both feel like they are the underdog. Also, nice that their rivalry is not only about Aqua, they have their own lives outside of the love triangle and this makes the trope a lot more bearable (interesting even).
I love how the show's season 2 was literally just announced in production during this Season 1's finale, we gotta give credits to the actors and animation staff who worked hard on this series!
Did you heard Kana said "Oshi no Ko" to Aqua on the stage? The title of this anime. It is pretty cool scene, but easy to miss. "Title drop" is very meaningful and cool in these animes and manga.
the little detail that there's no white glowing sticks before Kana sees Aqua dancing, yet there are plenty of them afterwards is very nite. It's bot that there isn't any but her depression prevents her from seeing them.
It’s actually not that she was too depressed to see them. The glow sticks at Japanese idol shows are different than the ones most people get at the store where they only are one color until they fade out. They’re electronic with batteries and you press a button to change the color to the song or to the idol you are supporting. So what happened was that people changed from yellow to red during Ruby’s part and some changed to white when Kana went hard during the second song. Aqua just bought 3 individual glow sticks and changed them to all 3 colors, but if he wanted to he could of changed them all to white, red, or yellow at anytime.
5:41 Everyone has yellow glowsticks, because Kana thinks everyone is only there for MEM 7:23 Kana sees Ruby's potential and talent, now you can see yellow and red glowsticks in the crowd 11:15 Kana gets her confidence back after Aqua's dance, and there are now yellow, red AND white glowsticks in the crowd I love how we see this from Kana's perspective and the negative bias she has towards herself, it's very symbolic aswell
Season 2 already confirmed You know the series was a success Also fun fact the Opening hit top of the charts world wide beating Miley Cirrus, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift ect
10:20 Aqua Mind "Ah, I love having so flexible and young body. I can move without pain in the back" Btw your reactions are so... Expressional, this make it fell unique in comparison to other reactors who just stare blank at the monitor and talk a bit from time to time. Keep it up, you're reactions are 🔥
in case you (like I initially) missed it, the Veteran B-Komachi fan was shown way back in episode 1 when the news broke that Ai was killed. so you know he's a real OG, standing in line attending the dome-concert
It has everything I want in a single show. It has an amazing cast of characters, it has an amazing plot, it has a top tier opening, and it keeps me wanting to come back for each episode
11:16 This shot revealing that there are tons more white glow sticks now can either be 2 things. 1. They suddenly took them out and started waving them as Kana's facial expression and attitude changed 2. We were viewing the crowd from the perspective of Kana, who due to her negative self image, negative thoughts and lack of passion for being an idol, was only able to see Mem's and Ruby's colors, not being able to process the glow sticks that were shining for her until someone she actually cared about, Aqua showed his support. After that, she started to actually care and was finally able to see that there were some who were there to support her. I personally choose to believe in option 2
I'm not even the type to focus on couples at all but when it comes to this series, no matter what, Akane and Aqua will always be my favourites, I love how they're both simultaneously calm and unhinged LOL
2:35 Ha! Next time you update your model, put in a Oshi No Ko star eye option! 14:23 This reaction caused my soul to transcend and I achieved a higher state of being.
Watching this with you has been life changing and supper affirming. i've been a fan since your early jojo's content and i wanted to say thank you for all that you do. seeing you get hyped over episodes, your interactions with Ant and your anecdotes are amazing. i would never have watched this or horimiya if it weren't for you, you have introduced me and many others to so may cool shows and have a way of being able to understand an analyze characters like no one else. It's inspiring, it makes me wanna make my own yt series in the hopes you...or someone like you would react to it someday and the people in your life are lucky to have you in it too stay strong and thank you, for everything. -Rain
The theater mentioned in this episode really does exist in Japan. The manga went into greater depth. There are multiple stages. By utilizing the rotating audience, it gives crews time to swap out set pieces while the audience is facing a different stage. I can't wait for the next season, the Tokyo Blade arc is amazing.
Alicia and the timings ahaha : *pause the second Ruby starts to act as charismatic as Ai* "I want Ruby to take the shining spot just as Ai" "Woaw, doesn't this girl look like Kana? I wonder if Kana'll play her" *Litterally pause while Kana was speaking/coming, saying it's indeed her role*
1:43 By the way, if I'm not mistaken, There's a funny reference here. Few people notice her, or just few people talk about her., But this man in the center, who is nostalgic for B-komachi, he was shown in close-up in the first episode, when they talked about Ai's death, and they said that the gathering of fans, instead of a concert, was grieving. It shows how the new B-komachi really takes on the legacy of the old, and the old fans, more... Visually, or something. I may be wrong, but in my opinion it is so.
Thanks for the reaction, I don't usually watch this kind of content but I was bored and youtube just happened to recommend me this so I gave it a try, and here I am, 11 episodes later in a blink of a starred eye. it was surprisingly interesting and deep (talking about the reaction since I already saw the show). Keep the good work.
When Ruby said that Aqua grew up with a messed up personality, really shows when he is emotionless for things. But to specific individuals he lets in, Kana is one of them. Ruby can see the change. Said this before but Miyako is such a great anime mom lol.
God I love this series so much! Kana has become my favorite and I'm quite excited to see how her "rivalry" with Akane will go (since they did announce there's going to be a second season). I can't wait... it can't come soon enough! Also... deadpan Aqua going to town with the glowsticks was the highlight of the finale! Hehehe...
If you are looking for a series to watch now and don't mind western animation. Arcane is short, beautifully animated and with amazing and very complex characters. It is a "videogame adaptation" in theory but the watching experience is 10/10 even if you know nothing about it. It won "best video-game adaptation" award competing vs Cyberpunk: edgerunners, and that show is amazing, so you should definitely check it out at some point if you haven't yet.
Damn was this anime gripping from start to finish and I can't wait for S2. Your reactions to it as well, from your experiences to your expertise in film and entertainment, really adds something to how I watch the show.
People really focus on Kana’s lines and Aqua’s dance, but what really hit me is that Ruby is actually already better than Ai. It was said pretty early on that Ai had no real friends within her idol group or outside of it. That because of her trauma she had a hard time “loving” and that applied to even normal things like having friends. What hits me super hard about Ruby taking on her mother’s charisma here that a lot of people overlook is that she SAW Kana wasn’t smiling and was in her head so she tried to cheer her up by doing this.
This show is so good it made me look up manga and read through it in a week(which happens almost never). Thanks for your reactions, heartfelt moments and little insights you provided, was super fun to watch!
I love how the star in Aqua's eye turns to black every times he is switching to his darker side (which first happened at the end of the first episode), and stay white otherwise.
HOW MANY TIMES?!?! Alicia just starts reading the script in like half of these videos. Last time it was Akane getting star eyes, not it's Aqua dancing. She even called that it was the same dance from when he was a baby. Then the casting of Kana. She literally stops the video to talk about it with Kanna's interjection already showing in the subtitles, but doesn't notice. I lost it.
I can't wait for season 2 !!! For your reactions to season 2 !!! I can't get enough of how amazing Oshi no Ko issssss. Thank you as always for your work ! ❤
Just finished binging your reaction and love your insight into acting / behind the scenes of all the media aspects. I have a suggestion for an older anime that goes into a similar vein called Skip Beat! I think you will love it based on your reactions here.
I will say with the reincarnation angle I really do hope that there’s a chance that this story comes full circle. I hope that since the story started with Ai it will end with Ai, and that she’s reincarnated (preferably) as Ruby’s daughter, and she gets to experience real love that her own mother never gave her…so she doesn’t have to try to find it via working as an idol, a guy, or having kids at a young age. I’ll be okay if Ai would be reincarnated as Aqua’s daughter too, because whoever he’d end up with would love Ai as well, but Ruby just makes more sense. Of course this would be if they time skipped to end things and of course if it even ends on a happy note…
I love all the characters but I think Ruby is the GOAT of the show, after all she's been through, she's still a positive light. Though it kinda worries me too.
Awe, the interaction between you and your fiancé was a surprise, but an adorable surprise to be sure. I personally am still pulling for Ruby to eventually be the center, but not taking away from the amazing performance of all three members so far. I got this nagging feeling that B Komachi is gonna add Akane to the roster some time in the future, and NO, I have not read the manga or anything, so I have no idea what is going to happen in this series. Honestly I can't wait for season 2 to get here.
happy that you were emotional in this episode I was too I still wish ai would see ruby now she super happy and proud of her daughter and she would joined aqua in that dance too out of excitement
Tokyo Blade is something made up in the manga. It *smells* like Bleach. BTW, Bleach has had 4 or 5 stage shows. I saw one of them - it was tons of fun.
