Got mine few days ago.... awesome network it created... all my 4K CCTV wireless is sending notification better now... it fixed my 4K CCTV traffic connection problems.
I have a Deco X60 connected as access point. It stopped working after a firmware update in December 2023. Seems to me that the TP-Link mesh systems works fine as routers, but not as access points connected to another router. After the problems I’ve had, I feel quite reluctant to buy more TP-Link equipment.
You don't need to wire them in. I have these systems in my home and helped setup in 5 different friends homes. It's a dream. Download the app then plug in one device at a time right in the living room or wherever your existing modem or router is. Don't start spreading them through the house until you get everything working side by side. Then unplug the 2 you want to move and go plug them in wherever you want them. Then wait 10 mins. They will have firmware updates and when you plug them back in it will show red lights for longer than you want to be patient but they all turn green and it's go time. Best system ever.
@@kingtaco1472if you could help me clarify some things. Right now I have Virgin media in Ireland. It comes from outside into my house through a Coax cable into the WiFi router. But I want to get more coverage around the house. Do I just get this and connect it wirelessly to the original router and then just spread these around the house.?
I bought this mesh thinking it would be better than my Meshforce 7 but I could not connect the 3rd node at all. Tried reset 3x but to no avail. The wireless speed was no better than Meshforce 7. Disappointed as I love my TP Link routers.
Why did the newer X60 drop down to two ethernet ports per device? I just opened my x60, saw 2 ports, put back in box and am returning it tomorrow. Dealbreaker.
This video showed me that it was worth buying them... like they are 3 times better than our old M4 decos that we had since pre covid(2019). Now im more exited now knowing my wifi is going to get even better. (Going cuz they aren't here yet, they are arriving tomorrow to our family vacation house so were gonna pick the up next week when we go shopping in that town a few hours from my city)
@@annabonita3993 they work like a charm! Just make sure they are in a cool area since they are prone to overheat… specially during summer… other than that they are great!
Hello Fishbee, I like your video about your X55, but when you started showing the diagram about hooking it to a modem, you clearly said you don't own a modem. So, how did you get the main unit to connect to the world wide web?
its local fiber optic and runs through a small box on the wall similar to a modem but don't remember what the installer called it. Basically looks like a small box just big enough to convert the connection to ethernet and has indicator lights on it.
its called ONT (Optical Network Terminator). It converts the light/laser signals into Ethernet. You plug a CAT5E, or CAT6 or better ethernet cable from the ONT into the router.
My current TP Link Extender RE650, my iPhone 14 Pro Max does not detect the Extendend 5GHz frequency, only the 2.4GHz frequency. My Pixel 7 on the other hand can see both. I want to get a Deco system to extend my Starlink router which is WiFi 5 and not 6 but I'm afraid the cheaper Deco S4 will not show the 5GHz frequency on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It shows up fine on iPhones X, XR and 11 Pro. Please can you confirm to me that the iPhone 13 or 14 Pro Max can detect the 5GHz of this newer X55 or the older one you showed in the video which is the S4. I will appreciate this.
How can I connect a Linksys AC1900 router to this? Having trouble getting my SONOS connected but I think if my router would connect that would solve the problem of a lot of my smart home devices being on the old network.
So my dad has starlink, says when he live streams anything there is a buffer. Would this help? Also i noticed it comes with 3. He has a cabin nearby the house, wants to know if he puts one of these in the cabin if it'd work. Thanks
This can’t help with the buffering if its an issue with Starlink but it can help ensure whatever connection speed he has is being maintained throughout the coverage area. If the cabin is within a few feet from the main Deco device, it “may” work in the other cabin. (He can also use an ethernet cable to connect the second Deco)
so does this work without a modem my internet just comes through the wall with an Ethernet which is in a router right now so would just putting it into one of these make that one the main?

Yes you could try that to see how it works. Everyone's house is different, some may be able to use a stronger router like the gaming ones with multiple antennas. Luckily I can run Ethernet to each mesh router so it's a little better than wireless mesh system.
@@FishBeeProductionsSo you run an ethernet cable from your router to each mesh? So then the mesh becomes a new WiFi point and extends the range of the WiFi signal
Question: I have a netgear r6400 and my internet speeds are 800 mbps through Ethernet but on my 2.4 ghz network my speeds are around 50 mbps and on my 5ghz network the speeds are around 130 mbps. How do I get quicker Wi-Fi speeds? Do I need a better router? Please help!!
@@anthonyturner6096 if you have fiber and it says 800 I would say 700 with the newly upgraded system but make sure you read the speeds for the 2.5 and 5ghz to be around 1000mbps for the 5ghz to get the maximum speed of internet your paying for
Hi. I'm thinking of using a pair of these in one house and another one in my son's 1100 sq ft condo. He is currently using an AirPort Extreme in the condo. When used as a single router for older device supporting b/g/n/ac only, do you think one of these will perform as well? I understand the AirPort Extreme does not support Wi-Fi 6 (AX). Aside from Apple deices, most of our computers from work do not support Wi-Fi 6 yet. Hopefully that makes sense what my concern is. thanks!
i haven't tested an airport extreme to compare but i have heard those were really good when they came out, these are more for better coverage in my opinion vs fastest speeds you can get from one single router
Are all mesh routers supposed to be compatible with any updated wifi device? When I went to check the 3 pack it says its compatible with all wifi devices, less than that its says only compatible with personal computer. Different mesh routers says either tablet or pc or wifi devices or a more specified description of what wifi device.
