@@aria.elizalde no Daphne turned into a tree to escape Apollo. But there was a girl have unrequited love for him, she kept looking up at him then she turned into sunflower.
@@dandelienn According to the Roman poet Ovid's Metamorphoses, the sea-nymph Clytie was spurned by the sun god Apollo, and slowly wasted away while gazing at his chariot traversing the sky; she was then transformed into a flower that always turns its face toward the sun.
My friend sent me Achilles come down, when i was going through a rough patch. She also sent this one to me as well when i was still going through a rough patch and was ready to give up
Come down Achilles is my favorite song about Greek myth I mean it just hits this place deep in your heart I actually wanted to cry the first time I heard it
I'm a polytheist too!! A hellenic polytheist more precisely (my patron is Apollo and I'm listening to it after praying to him and leaving an offering for him)
@@angelswings8344 it's a statue of Apollo and Daphne and it's showing the moment when Daphne is turning into a laurel tree. There is a whole myth about that. This specific sculpture was made by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
Oddly enough this song reminds me of Enjolras and Grantaire from Les Mis since Enjolras is called Apollo in the book. Victor Hugo also compares Grantaire to Patroclus and other ancient Greek figures
I think we may be the same! I'm making an album called R (all songs I think Grantaire would sing) and I'm thinking of including this one. I can't believe there aren't more people saying this!
@@luuuuux_ that statue is Apollo and Daphne by Bernini. (A baroque architect and sculptor. My absolute favorite.) This is a beautiful statue, but it depicts Daphne literally turning into a tree just to get away from Apollo, who is trying to rape her. For the background of a song like this, it doesn’t quite... match.
@@lillyweaver7726 oh. I get it now. Also, I heard another version of the myth where Apollo was in love with her because he was struck by a love arrow by Eros (whom he got into an argument with) and Daphne was struck by an arrow of hate, meaning that even if she could’ve fallen in love with him before, she couldn’t now. He saw her bathing and fell in love with her at first sight and then chased her around asking her to marry him. He chased her to the edge of a cliff and in order to escape, she asked Gaia to turn her into a tree and therefore, she became the first laurel tree. That’s the version I read. There are many versions though, so.... 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you for telling me
This feels like Icarus' theme song to Apollo as he launches himself towards his doom , free as ever and welcoming death smiling .... all for the sake of some Godly dick
good question, I don't know lol, there was one really healthy relationship but then a God was jealous so he killed him- edit: The God didn't kill Apollo he killed Apollo's lover
Not every love of his was so bad! Besides, his story embodies Greeks' attitude towards art, music, literature, knowledge, healing and many more. The things they worshipped in Apollo are the deepest things in human soul: our beauty, our creativity, the ability to share in the divine. These faculties of human mind, body and soul are represented by Apollo, but as we all know they are double-edged and in myths you can see this dualism: the beauty and power of art combined with dangers for those who can be inspired: Apollo was depicted as beautiful, good, merciful and harmonious, but also as jealous, vindictive, possesive, passionate. Not in vain they worshipped in him life and death, healing and plague... That's how I feel it could be interpreted: as understanding of overwhelming power of art, truth and beauty that demand total submission to the talent in a way...
I swear this should be Persephone and Apollo ship song especially “when autumn comes around “ in 1:5 - 1:10 after all that’s when she goes back to the underworld

@@ArrowinmyKneee Well tbf, most stories say that he asked ZEUS out of all people what should he do with his pining, and Zeus said he should kidnap her. So yeah, it's not entirely his fault he didn't know what to do lmao
