Thanks and welcome! in vector, I dont need many layers because when I click an shape/path it's direct to the object. It's different with Photoshop or any raster software. But you still need to separate the layers based on category such like ; hair, skin, background, etc.

Take a long path then this issue will b resolved or take a point with curvature tool and adjust it

just select all portrait and Group it

just practice more about how to pick colour. about the gradient, that just kind of style. I dont use gradient for some of my works.

Bigyan Kharel on illustrator you can drag the eye dropper tool onto the screen and it will pick up the colours! Hope that helps

you can switch Fill and Outline color using Shift + X

in your vedio you have black outline but when when you select layer its fill in skin color. But anyway you said nice tric with sift +X
