New Japan Pro-Wrestling certainly revolutionized and began many stories that came to fruition for the next few years. Like the Tanahashi-Okada rivalry, Bullet Club, L.I.J, the rise of Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, Jay White, and Juice Robinson, plus Tetsuya Naito's redemption story across the mid-2010s.

Sadly the business aspect of Japanese wrestling was in decline and still is even though most westerners first got into the product during this period. NJPW, AJPW and NOAH were booming in business a decade prior.

Even though the early 2010s (2010-2012) had memorable moments/matches like rock vs Cena, rise of cm punk, Brock returns and the Sheild debut. I still don’t feel nostalgic or miss this time period at all when it comes to WWE. Especially with things like heel Michael Cole, Brock losing to Cena after returning, John laurinaitis main eventing PPV, Cm punk losing to HHH and John Cena being booked as an underdog and then only for him to go super Cena and wins for majority of his matches.

I LOVE these long form videos which Cultaholic do. Can only imagine the sheer amount of research, time and effort it would have taken to build the timeline, put it all together, do the voiceover and then edit it all together with the images. We are truly spoilt by getting these for free!

As a hardcore wrestling fan for 6 years in 2012, I shifted away from WWE and TNA's inconsistent products to ROH and started watching NJPW. The JR heavyweight division was my favorite, and I became a massive fan of a young pre-bullet club, Price Devitt. A few months after 2012 was over and Bullet Club was formed, Devitt/Balor became what is, to this day, the most influential wrestler of my childhood. It's crazy that it was already 11-12 years ago.

Jeff Hardy's TNA World Heavyweight Championship win that year was pretty dope. It culminated in a solid redemption story, leading to the best World Championship Reign of Hardy's career. It has some pretty dope matches, including a Triple Threat with Bobby Roode and Austin Aries.

Jeff Hardy's TNA World Heavyweight title reign from October 2012 when he beat Austin Aries at Bound For Glory to Lockdown 2013 was arguably the best title reign he's ever had in TNA & definitely better than his WWE & World Heavyweight title reigns. I would say this reign was even better than Jeff Hardy's TNA World Heavyweight title reign from 2010-2011 when he won the title at Bound For Glory 2010, which was Jeff's heel turn & the birth of the faction known as Immortal. When I get a chance, I'm going to watch Bound For Glory 2010, as well as the other TNA pay per views that I haven't yet watched.

That was the best and worst of times for ROH. You had Davey Richards and Kevin Steen at the top of the cards unfortunately. For every Kyle O'riley and Bobby Fish match that entertains, you have Mike Bennet and Matt Tavin giving you generic mat work and bad promos. For every Jay Lethal VS Roddy Strong classic you get terrible matches from Jimmy Jacobs and Tommoso Ciampa. My hero Jim Cornette destroyed ROH booking....in my home town!
