Now that the algorithm is kicking in, i suppose i should clarfiy some stuff: Firstly: YES I MADE A MISTAKE WITH GENERATION WAR IT DIDN'T COME OUT IN 1976 Secondly: Most of the films that i would've like to include like Tobruk, sink the bismarck and the more modern Midway film i was unable to mostly cause of inability to access footage of them, both through legal and "grey" ways. Thirdly: The flag used in Fury and downfall is the German National flag because the swastika can get a video demonitised Finally: The lack of Chinese movies is mostly ideological. Since most of the fighting was between Nationalists vs Japanese, it wouldn't go over very well with the CCP to depict their former enemy as heroes.
People shouldn't care about these useless details. Point is, war is hell. It never achieves anything. Beware of those who call for war for the "greater good." History is usually told by the victors. This is becoming less true thankfully and hopefully the real truth of how bad such periods were wins out that we may not repeat it.
The Warsaw Uprising was in 1944 not in 1943. The Warsaw GHETTO Uprising against GERMANS was in 1943. P.S. Excuse me WTF is this GERMAN flag at the very end ?! Where is the real flag ?! I can't stand this historical lies .

benmcfee I completely agree. I think movies after 1998 are doing a much better job at actually portraying how shorty war is instead of romanticizing the hell out of it for feel good stories
@@chandlerjackson3412 eh, that's because you guys are only watching Hollywood movies. If you look European cinematography (including Russian) you'll see totally different picture way before 1998.
@@shhinobii I didn't say it in my initial comment, but I absolutely agree. My comment doesn't include the kind of bleak realism seen in films like _Come and See_ and _Das Boot_ (just to name a couple). European cinema (especially German and Russian) has had a take-no-prisoners approach to war films for far longer than Hollywood has. Consequently, I'd argue (and I'd bet you're of a similar opinion) that they're better war films for it.

I'd love to see that film actually, since they had tanks that were impenetrable by Germans, and fired until they did not have more ammo, and then the Germans just ignored them.
There is some (mostly french made) but only few are focused on military event, and all tell individual stories: - Week-end à Zuydcoote (1964) French perspective of the beach of Dunkirk -La septième compagnie (and sequels) (1973-1977) Classic comedy about 3 dumb-coward french soldier lost in the chaos of May 1940 -Le train (1973) Civilian fleeing from northern France on a train -Un balcon en forêt (1979) The Phoney war and begining of fall of France from the perspective of a 4 men platoon stuck in a bunker at the France-Belgian border. -Bon voyage (2003) Love story between People fleeing the Germain invasion. -En mai fait ce qu'il te plaît (2015) Story of a entire village fleeing Germain invasion.
Well to be fair. There wasn't alot of action in 1939. The only thing I could think of is China and poland. And the war started in September there isn't that much time left in year anyways
I also recommend the Polish movie "Miasto 44" (Warsaw 44). It is about the Polish Uprising that took place from August to October 1944. And it was the largest civilian uprising in the history of WW2.
At the time when Germany attacked the Soviet Union, many warehouses with weapons fell from the bombardment and therefore had to fight with what was at hand: a board, a cobblestone, a knife and even a super Soviet red shovel)
Oh my God, what correct information are you saying here. I am from Russia and am very impressed with your knowledge. For which I am grateful to this one.👏✨

Should have used the Stalingrad (1993) film to represent the Battle of Stalingrad. It's much more historically accurate and respectful to the veterans than Enemy at the Gates

From the Pacific Oceans, to mainland Asia, to Scandinavia, to the African desert, to beaches of Sicily and Southern Europe. The streets of Stalingrad, Moscow, Leningrad, to Normandy, and then Berlin. Great way of using the films to show how this truly was a world at war.

The problem with where you put The Pacific and Band Of Brothers is their timeline in both miniseries goes from 1942-1945(I believe the Pacific even goes into 1946)
Spartan 150 In episode 10 where we see Sledge and his friends returning home in the train, it was after they completed their tour of duty in China (after Okinawa; shown offscreen). The 1st Mar Div was sent to China after Okinawa as part of its occupational duty. You can read Sledge’s book “China Marine”.
Try to watch soviet film series Liberation (1971) by Yuri Ozerov. It contains Battle of Kursk, Crossing of Dnepr river, Liberation of Belarus and Poland, Battle of Seelow heights and Battle of Berlin. Specially Battle of Kursk is well filmed because of using thousands of Red army soldiers instead of CGI.
The problem with a Kursk film is that the scale is just way too big to capture. How do you show thousands of tanks shooting at each other alongside millions of infantry, for example?
@@bkjeong4302 Well, the Soviet Union probably could have pulled it off, but it might have become a propaganda film. I base this opinion on Waterloo, which the Red Army was able to make a fascinating movie using genuine props and tactics.
@Mr. LaFleur well obviously not, if they decided to show a better film. Even with outdated VFX, Tora! Tora! Tora! still stands head and shoulders above Pearl Harbor and clearly that mattered more to Salokin when making this video. Visuals and impressive VFX are only surface elements. Pearl Harbor had absolutely no other redeeming qualities as a film, and therefore was not judged as worthy enough for inclusion on this list. Simple as
@@reefrunnerart The actor that did Isoroku Yamamoto is good tough, very famious as well, he did narrator voice of Dexter laboratory and the voice of Uncle Iroh from Avatar the last airbender amongst others.
@@reefrunnerart + the Japanese did the Japanese side and U.S did the U.S side of the movies, because when you let US do all the work, you get pearl harbour (2001) movie, only good thing is attack scene and the actor who played Isoroku Yamamoto.
