Great review! I will say, I’ve had a couple of mornings where I wasn’t able to find the power button right away on mine. But it takes less than 5 seconds to make sure you have the scale the right way and to find it!

thx also for naming the cons / flipside ❤ You could ad how often you load the battery and if water from steam etc is an possible issue for you. got an 30 euro cheaper scale for the recent 3 yrs. missed the sexyness, the usb loading feature and the auto timer a bit. So I just ordered black friday - for about 40 ish euro the basic +

I never desired to invest on another scale ever since I got the Timemore Black mirror Pro simply bcoz of the fact that its features is way enough for me to make a nice cup of coffee

1 additional area for improvement I would add is that it would have been great if Timemore included some kind of dust cover for the USB port. Inevitably this scale will be around liquid a lot, and it seems it would be really easy to get water in the port.

That's an excellent point. Though fortunately to date, I have not had an issue with the port, but I can see that being a concern if it's constantly exposed to a lot of moisture. Though to be fair the Acaia doesn't have a cover on the charging port either, and it stands up to the everyday abuse of a commercial environment.

I’ve had mine for over a year using it for pour overs and espresso shots. I haven’t noticed any water getting near the port, maybe because the scale is on the bigger side.

I am currently testing the basic plus, I am not a big fan of the scale apps so I don't really use them. This includes the Acaia app as well.

What about the searchpean tiny2 scale? It's more budget friendly, much smaller, still with usbc but the battery is smaller (800mah)

I have a breville machine aswell. Is that scale too big? Seems like it wont fit on the tray of the breville. Does the whole scale have to be on a flat surface?

I've also had the Black Mirror for several months following your first video. I agree with nearly all of your points. One question though, I want to be able to use the auto start timer for pour over. However the scale will stop the timer if it senses weight removed from it. Are you aware of a way to turn that feature off? For example if I do a swirl, it's often enough to stop the timer. I've seen foreign language videos where it seems like that's not the case for them, so I'm thinking there may be a different version unit out there, or perhaps I'm missing something. Great work as always!

First of all, thank you for the words of encouragement. Honestly the timer has only stopped for me once (with a long beep) when I removed the weight, I couldn't get my unit to replicate the problem since then. Normally the timer would continue to keep running if I remove the carafe. I did some search and found this reddit page that might be helpful www.reddit.com/r/Coffee/comments/mmut5m/timemore_black_mirror_issues/ it seems that this "issue" will only exist in auto mode. To be honest, most of the time I start my timer manually, so that might also be the reason why I don't notice the issue. Hope this helps!! Thanks again for your support.

THE most important feature is not spoken about and that is accuracy to the 0.1g as this is important for esprersso. I have even seen on places that sell this that say its not accurate so was wondering what users say. Is it accurate to 0.1g? (Thats roughly one bean)

interesting news on the basic+ version, i just asked the store on Taobao CN, they said there is no basic+ version. But I also saw an unboxing video on the youtube too, a bit puzzled with the e-store response. Where did you see the basic+ on sale? thanks.

@@justinyaoxu I'm based in Singapore and online shopping sites such as Lazada and Shopee are all carrying the basic+ version. I got mine for around 37 USD. It is kind of a weird situation because even on Timemore's website, there is currently no information on the basic+ version.

@@yongweioh142 Yeah the basic plus version comes with much improved sensor and a physical on and off button. It just came out this year, Timemore has informed me that some stores will start carrying it soon in the US. Wish they would have had better marketing communication.

If I am not mistaken its the one with the Bluetooth app capability. Basically it will log all of your pour times and weights and allow you to notate things down about that specific pour. Personally I don't find it to be necessary, but it's a personal preference.

Friendly, accessible and pleasant review. Yes helpful. Thank you. Especially for explaining and demonstrating the auto-timer-start function. I didn't understand what it was, now it seems like a must-have, great function. A few questions please, if you'd be so kind. Can you put a portafilter on the silicon mat to weigh it? Or do you need to remove the mat, put the portafilter directly on the bare plastic, then put the mat back on before moving the scale to on top of the drip tray to measure your shot output? Can the silicon mat fit the feet of a Clever Dripper (~10.5cm diameter) with enough room to spare so it's not on the edge? The Clever has to brew directly on the scale, putting it on top of a cup or pitcher opens the drip hole letting it through the filter. Can you permanently turn off the beeps or have to hold down the timer button every single time? (In which case how would you press the timer button to start timing?) Does it auto tare or how does it know when to, if there's no such button? This is the first I'm considering buying so expensive a scale. (I was thinking about a Hario for ~$45 on Amazon or an ExoGram for $35) You're a good salesman.

Bought the plus version. It has an on/off switch and the on/off and timer buttons are engraved onto it.

The auto function only automatically start but doesn't automatically stop. Is that right?

Sorry about the delayed response. In case if you have not received an answer for this, no it does not auto stop. However if it notice a disturbance in weight (like if you were to remove the carafe) it will pause the timer.

Is it possible to set the timer so it will beep at 4 minutes? I like to brew French press. I saw a scale called Hero on Amazon and it has a countdown timer. I don’t see any reviews on RU-vid for this Hero scale. I’m trying to decide between the Hero and the black mirror scale.

It is not. The only extra functionality it has is the ability to start the timer when it detects water being poured / an increase in weight.

Yes, as @bonk stated. Unfortunately it will not beep when it reaches a preset weight/time. The Hero scale seems to have a higher weight capacity at 5000 grams, as for the beeping, it will beep every minute, so not exactly at a preset time either. Though it's actually a quite good looking scale as well, I might give it a try once I save up some more funds.

TLDR; Product lasted 5 months, customer service does not even reply. I purchased the Timemore Pro scale. Living in Germany, there is basically no customer service for this product. I would never buy Timemore again. I am posting this under every review of this product.

The Timemore is garbage. Mine became completely uncalibrated (and unusable) after only 2 months. Then, to add insult to the injury, Timemore ignored my emails about the issue and the scale is now an unusable piece of junk cluttering up one of my kitchen drawers.
