@@fortheloveofnoise Not really controversial, tho I'd struggle to include the first one, since it's essential a prototype / tech demo of what would come later.
@@EvanHelblingYT Because games back then were not as popular... I mean my god this game was way too ahead of its time though the old graphics and art style really give it a certain charm. The TS2 elitists trashed it and marketing in general was pretty bad. And gamers in general aren't the brightest. They leave good games in the dust and praise all terrible and mediocre stuff and then wonder why the gaming industry is so bad nowadays. Remember Prey from 2017? I know SO many people who trashed it just because of its name and when they played it they were shocked to no end because of finding out how insanely well done the game is. The OST, gameplay, art direction and creativity is absolutely incredible for such an old video game. We will never have something like Timesplitters again.
@@JeedyJaywell that's complicated. Cause mocap is a tool and can produce fantastic results where hand animation can't. Like the comparison between halo ODST cutscenes and halo reach cutscenes. Reach's looks so much better because the realistic looking people actually move like people and not like cartoons. Time splitters has cartooney looking characters. So hand animation makes sense here
This game was my whole childhood on PS2. You didnt mention how its PACKED with additional content. Extensive multiplayer, co-op, and challenges out the wazoo. All of them come with unlockable multiplayer skins, i think theres like 150. And then there was not only a map maker, but a whole mission scenario creation tool along with it with asset and logic creation built in. Its an amazing game, AND it had some of the early online multiplayer for PS2.
Yeah I left out a lot to make more videos in the future or else the vid would be another 20 mins long haha. I made a separate vid about the zombies alone - one of the most content packed games ever I can’t wait for the new one they’re makin!
@@EvanHelblingYTdudes I remember renting a PS2 from Blockbuster for a week with my cousin and playing Timesplitters 2 for days. Can’t believe how long it’s been.
Andrew Lawson (lead animator) - works at Disney now with his first movie being Wreck-It Ralph, clearly he knew how to do animation right with limited resources.
I was able to get a buddy to play this with me for the first time last week and lemme tell ya, listening to belly laughs from the cutscenes will absolutely never get old for me.
if you want a hardcore challenge play TS1 if you want to chill with the homies on multiplayer, play TS2 if you want to cackle a few laughs and enjoy a good story, play TSFP
3:12 I love that time loop. It's genius because it completely disregards where the key came from in the beginning. And if it's a true loop then the key should desolve over time because it's always the same key getting handed over through an infinite amount of loops.
Haha the amount of plot wholes that can stem from any of the time loops are awesome. Now you have me thinking about where the key could’ve came from and i’m totally lost 😂
What if the perspective we see the game from isn’t the one from the original timelines protagonist. Like the guy you play as is actually from a long line of this interaction or simply just the second to arrive at this point in time. Maybe the guy above came here, discovered the key some other way, then went back in time to throw it down to make things easier, and thus starting the loop. After awhile the loopers of the future would no longer have a point of origin for the key and they themselves would only know of the key as being passed on from a different time version if themselves

So glad the young guns out there are putting respect on this franchise. I was in the Marine Corps when this came out. And me a few buddies were obsessed. We played it in the barracks most nights. Everyone was still on Halo 2 (which had released the year before) but a core group of us played the shit out of this game. TS2 was also really groundbreaking for its' time too.
I play this game regularly i remember growing up playing this alongside Battlefront 2 on PS2. Good time. I love the multiplayer unlockables and the fun effects. Many cool things to unlock ,things which made video games so much better back then
Honestly this. I know we all complain about a game not having a good story, but games like these fill that niche, we just need more nonsensical fun af games.
I didn’t get into this game until adulthood but I grew up on the second game. This series is absolutely amazing. I love how fun it is, the crazy amount of content (modes, characters, weapon selection, being able to play against bots etc), and wacky but creative art style and story. I wish more games were like this
Not having played Bioshock is a sin. The animation in this game is like Insomniac/Naughtydog/Valve levels of excellence. The multiplayer was fun as hell.
i loved the multiplayer so much. Specially when you activated the killer monkeys for the worst player. We had such a laugh with this game. I hope the new one will be as good
Wow! Yet another banger man! This is mine and my bestfriend’s favorite game! Remember the good old days after school, watching Malcolm in the middle, and playing split-screen Timesplitters 3.
Fun thing to mention for 8:10. On this mission you only get single shot weapons and very little ammo really empasising the "survival-horror" feeling with just few simple game play changes. The harpon gun with recovarable ammo which you find latter is the god's send. I find it to be really clever.
You wanna know the most upsetting part about never getting another Timesplitters game? In Homefront: The Revolution, they actually made a full HD 60fps port of Timesplitters 2 which you can find in an arcade cabinet in one of the safe houses. It's set so you can only play like two levels but there's apparently a cheat that unlocks the WHOLE game. They actually were working on an HD re-release of Timesplitters and never told anyone! And for some reason, they still refuse to actually officially release it! Does THQ just... not like money or something?
Such an unappreciated masterpiece. The best balanced game, and the most fun to play. That, and the Maiden 🥰 The Carrion Carcass mission is one of the scariest in gaming. It just freaks me out.
Nah bro, your editing is far too good and clean for a channel this small, I'm obligated to subscribe. 🤣❤️ Have a comment and like for the algo, fam. 😎🤝😎
Still one of the best games I ever played. The amount of content besides the story is insane. Not to even mention the map editor that was a blast. I made some very clever virus gamemode maps with safespots. Finding keycards to enter rooms with camera's/turret control. Also conker bad fur day I have fun memories about. As a kid. Early era of gaming was just. Games where made with creativity and love. Ocarina of time/Rayman the great escape/banjo Tooie/perfect Dark/Goldeneye/Turok/Jack and daxter/Rachet and clank. I feel old 😂
I just played it today getting done with the single player and still trying to unlock everything, I'm impressed about everything in the game (graphics, gameplay, gunplay, multiplayer AI+most of the enemies being playable in multiplayer, creativity) it has a lot more creativity than MODERN GAMES today
I've played this game so much. That part where you experiment on that scientist? had a weird glitch where he phased through the door and I just about had a heart attack. you can also set off the nuke on the train by shooting that little propane tank behind the console.
The Gas canister i remember with the Harpoon Gun you can take it down in three shots. The trilogy was a masterpiece( And we do not have a 4th one for the fall of Free Radical, a 4 one was nearly with us in 2010). A masterpiece, one of the best OST in gaming, the best type of Arcade modes, and maybe, The BEst Map Creator of the gaming industry, and I hold this because the games were not focus on that but that section was nearly flawless
@@EvanHelblingYT I don't remember exactly the name but is a guy here that makes Time Splitters story missions on Map Creator here in YT ( TimeSplitterClassic I guess) Also he downloads and plays other community ones. (time splitter online can be played due a glitch)
Anyone who thinks the second game is better is just saying that because that's the installment they had/grew up with. There's no looking back from 'Future Perfect'. You can spend hundreds of hours with this game.
*Good video and editing. I still wish if this game had another chapter, maybe on PS5 let's say.. come on, there is always a place for another story. My favorite missions are [Scotland the Brave] , [The Russian Connection] , [You Genius, U-Genix]* *18:48** defending your past self on Hard Mode in nearly impossible in this mission. I passed it about 9 years ago 1 or 2 times and that's it.*
Thankyou! Yeah it’s aggravating knowing how much they could’ve accomplished with more releases. Scotland the Brave and The Mansion of Madness are always the most fun I have with it. I failed defending myself on easy so I can only imagine 😂 that’s impressive
I played this game till my PS2 broke and had to beg dad and uncle to buy another one because I had so many games to finish. It was worth it and now that there are apps in the phone like aethersx2 and other retro gaming console popping out, I can finally relive my childhood days 💪❤️
Yep, 20 years later and no game has ever been quite the same kind of fun as Time Splitters was! I've been playing Ark Survival Evolved lately and I feel like it's the closest kind of game to TS with how people are supposed to be from different periods of human history. A cross of Ark and TS would be amazing lol
I love the local multiplayer still love it even though finished it in 2010 in ps2. Now i got it on xbox one at a discount best multiplayer i guess its playable in splitscreen also just like on ps2.I hope they make a remake of it its just an awesome game.
My favourite game in my favourite fps series and this version of Jo-Beth Casey is my favourite Timepslitters character. She's completely different to the Jo-Beth Casey in the previous game (or games)
Lmaooo the whole time I’m watching this I’m seeing The Rock as Cortez. I’m waiting for the character to raise The People’s eyebrow as he says it’s time to split lol I never played this game but it looks like something I would back then. My game was Syphon Filter..all three games. I couldn’t wait to get home from school to play it. …I miss games like that,,not the greatest graphics but damn good to play.
Hahah definitely a beautiful fusion of The Rock and Vin Diesel, such a likable character 😂 It’s definitely worth trying out! I’ve never heard if the Syphon Filter games, gotta check those out 🤘
Dude I REALLY wish you went into the game modes, level editing, collectibles, characters more. This game has SOOO much too offer! Still love the video though, this game holds a special place in my heart and I'd KILL for a remaster of this series
I played the hell outta this game. My cousins and I would make so many custom maps and game modes to play. It was the best. Sad they never made more games like it. Loved everything about it, the game modes, story campaign, characters, game maps, music, the lord behind the characters, even unlocking the characters by doing certain missions
ooooooh, Future perfect was the 3rd game. as I kid always assumed this was the first game and could fgure out why timesplitters 1 kinda sucked as an adult
The editing and use of TSFP / TS2 Sound effects makes this not only nostalgic but supremely entertaining lmao Excellent video, I'm happy there are others who enjoy(ed) this game as much as I do :))
Thanks for noticing that! I love adding the extra layer of sound to hit all angles of nostalgia haha. Also love seeing that a TimeSplitters community exists 🤘
@Evan Helbling Man, you put so much effort into this video, why didn't you make a better thumbnail and click baity title?, it feels like you could have gotten so much more views and help the Time splitters community to grow, time to split and fix the past!
Thank you, for being so respectful, and a perfect ammount of comedic towards one of my core childhood memories. I used to play with with my dad all the time, we both miss the memories fondly.
It was crazy how fast games evolved at the time. You only had to wait 1-3 years usually until the next iteration of a series would release and you knew it would be pretty big improvements overall. Each new console generation saw massive increases in power and performance. It really was an amazing time to experience games and it's growth. Those days are long over now though sadly.
You can download a PS2 emulator, but you need either a disc drive, or an ISO image to mount, with a virtual drive. I used to play a lot of ps2 games that way.
Totally! I was just getting flashbacks to that watching this, and it took a moment to realise I was remembering the wrong game and it was going to be Khallos not Sturmgeist that popped out at us 😆
