Yes, the charge/discharge current capability is usually limited by the BMS size. As for discharge/capacity test, I've always performed a much higher than 0.2c on lithium. They almost always pass. I have had a few fail, but retesting with 0.2c they still failed. So no real difference. Absolutely, teardown will be coming! Thanks

It is a juntek vat-4300, I just use the camera to record it on my tablet. The have a newer version that is much nicer with blutooth, i'll be upgrading to the new one. amzn.to/3RM1Nbu

I heard this too. I wouldn't want to be an early adopter of a new battery technology though, too many unknowns. Once sodium batteries are in cars or being marketed for large backup systems the DIY market should ramp up within a couple years of that.

In all actuality, the only reason I might wait to buy this is because the price might drop some more. If Sodium batteries become the 'next big thing', the lithium batteries could possibly come down even more. I agree that when Sodium batteries come out big, I'm not going to jump 'on-board' very early for a number of reasons. First is the price will probably be high and mainly because the first big production of 'new' technology usually includes several issues that will have to be addressed as production continues. At the energy levels and reliability standards of even the bargain (cheap) lithium batteries, I can't imagine how a newer design will be so world changing that I would want to quit with LiFePo! @@indianasteelheadandsalmonf7033 Alright. I got it opened, it looks really good inside, same Ganfeng (GFB) cells used in the EG4 batteries from Signature Solar. I would say this is the current budget king. Keep an eye out for the video, might be tonight.

These are usually drop in replacements for lead acid. However some lead acid chargers have an equalization charge where they raise the voltage higher than you should for LiFePO4. but that being said the BMS in the battery should shut the battery down to protect it from that. What charger/inverter do you have? and what voltage is your system?

@@BradCagle Please do ask them. I could understand if they didn't want to send hardcopies for free and they didn't want to set up a listing to sell hardcopies, but they've just been telling me it's a "rule of our company" with no more explanation.

True, most budget batteries don't have low temp protection. However many charge controllers have this feature, so a solution is you can set your controller to not charge in freezing. Thanks

@@WizzRacing Many of these claim to have low temp cut off, but they do not. If you tell me the brand/model of some you're looking at, I might can request review samples to test. I and many others have tested several that claim this, but many times it is false. Thanks

@@BradCagle I don't need you to look anything up.. I'm an electrical engineer. I can test it the day I get them. They all worked as claimed. And any good brand charge controller would have a probe for them to start with..So you have a fail safe backup. Just in case.. Thank You

Maybe you could teach him all about this lithium battery by just simply saying “they are good batteries” just think how much he could complain about that. Some people just can’t appreciate anything.
