wow watching 2015 ....this is the best Hawaii warriors game so far....miss those days in Hawaii 2007 they were undefeated but lost too sugar bowl Georgia
The 2008 team accomplished the most. But no way was that the heyday of Hawaii football. The greatest years of Hawaii football were the Dick Tomey and Bob Wagner eras. Those were the years where top 5 teams in the country - like Oklahoma and Nebraska would come into Aloha Stadium, and Hawaii would ACTUALLY have a chance at winning because Hawaii had great defenses in those days. I believe Nebraska was the #1 team in the nation when they came to play Hawaii, and Hawaii hung with them for three quarters. The June Jones years were great indeed; however, one huge criticism of his Hawaii teams is they didn't have good defenses. So their offense would have to score 40 or 50 points just to win games. When it comes to the best single games in Hawaii football history, in my opinion, it's the two victories over BYU, which were led by Garrett Gabriel. NEVER in my life have I ever experienced the stadium rocking like it did on those nights. I attended every home game in 2008, and even the 2008 game against UW didn't compare to that first big win over BYU.
The greatest years of Hawaii football was the June Jones era, actually was an event for the whole state back in the day on Saturday night. Nowadays nobody even shows up, even the bars barely show the games
Mary yup stupid fucking idiots at UH thinking that Norm was the answer when McMakin was doing great! Wow 4 losing seasons in a row from Chow lol fucking dumbasses
jhb3043 bullshit. has nothing to do with administrators and coaches. Everything to do with the fact that your local boys prefer to rep Notre Dame, Alabama, Utah, Oregon or USC...they want their free tattoos and headphones. They then pretend to rep Hawaii when they start rocking the lei. Bitch you left Hawaii for material goods. Who the fuck cares about Hawaii. AMIRITE!?
I remember I saw Chad Owens and Timmy Chang in the Sun Bowl against UTEP. They were beasts. I remember thinking this guy could be an NFL qb. But just like Colt Brennan he was just a system qb. They had arms bit it just couldn't translate.
College FB was so much better in this era. Football in general, pro and college, was far better. Chad Owens was a human torch this game. Britton Komine was a beast back then too.
Fast forward to 2022. Timmy Chang was just named the new head football coach for Hawaii. I wouldn't be surprised if Chad Owens ends up on his coaching staff.
@@juniorkawai6131 Junior. I live in Arizona now so MAHALO for your update. Pray Timmy Chang can raise up The (Rainbow) Warriors back to another Sugar Bowl appearance.
How the fuck did Timmy Chang not get drafted and you got guys like Trent dilfer and Tim Tebow that can't hit a receiver and lasted more than 3 years in the nfl?
There are some well known Asian footballer of NFL / CFL ( Canadian Football League ) 1) Dat Nguyen → NFL 180cm / 108kg ・Position : Linebacker−−− ・Career Texas A&M, --> Dallas Cowboys. Texas A&M --> #9 Dallas Cowboys --> #59 −−− NFL All-Pro 2nd Team ( 2003 ) --> AP 2 NFL All-Pro Rookie Team ( 1999 ) −Hall of Fame of College Football Hall of Fame of Texas sportspeople Hall of Fame of Texas A&M All American Collegiate UNANIMOUS 1998 as Line backer. AP All Time Big 12 Lombardi Award Chuck Bednarik Award 2) Roman Gabriel → NFL 196cm / 102kg Position: QB −・Career North Carolina Univ. --> #18 L.A.Rams --> #18 and, Philadelphia Eagles --> #5NFL MVP 1969 Pro Bowl NFL All Pro 1st Team The most passing yard with TD × 2 All American Collegiate UNANIMOUSHall of Fame of College Football Hall of Fame of North Carolina Sportspeople Hall of Fame of North Carolina Univ. 3) Bryan Chiu → CFL 188cm / 130kg #68 ・All CFL Pro 1st Team 7 - 8 times. ・CFL All-Star 7 - 8 times. ・The Best Offensive Lineman of CFL 2002 ・Team Champion Title in Grey Cup in CFL. Bryan Chiu is worth of being CFL HoF as he already is, for his long time great performance as C, G in Montreal Alouettes. Roman Gabriel and Dat Nguyen are also already HoF of College Football and Sportspeople of each State, N.C., and Texas. Then I think Roman Gabriel is worth of being NFL HoF inductee.
I think Timmy Chang is victim of "glass ceiling" of NFL, a sport, half of which is actually kind of "rigged theater". Especially QB is a position that skinny alpha male of white american can be given without "real competition". Not strange american football are popular in the US and Canada but not worldwide. Some Asian that made success in NFL and Canadian CFL are most positions but only QB, like Linebacker as Dat Nguyen, Chris Gocong, Kailee Wong, Ted Bruschi, Safety as Pat Chung, Haruki Nakamura, Kevin Kaesviharn, Wide Receiver like Hines Ward, Offensive Tackle like Eugene Chung, Center and Guard like Eugene Amano, and Bryan Chiu --> all CFL × 7times and the Best Offensive Linemen of CFL 2002 when his team Montreal Alouettes won the CFL champion and is honorary HoF of CFL. Roman Gabriel was NFL MVP that has Asian descent but he was white halfee, and he was LIKED by american by playing alien in the movie "the undefeated" which John Wayne was a main actor, and such factors also "worked in favour of Gabriel for his fame". Ichiro Suzuki got his to be hall of fame status by his effort, winning MLB MVP, the best average hitter titles, Gold glove award, and 262hits a season that is all time MLB record. Yao Ming is famous even after retirement for his being All NBA 5 times (2nd team twice), the most scorer and all tournament team in the World Cup Basketball of FIBA 2006 and 2002, and the most rebound title in the olympic Athens 2004. From Kosei Inoue of Judo to Sun Yang of Swimming, from Jia Zhanbo of Rifle Shooting to Ku Bonchang of Archery, most of sports are of course straight and NEVER being rigged. From Kohei Uchimura said the all time the best gymnast that won many gold medals , to table tennis ( Ping Pong ) the gold medal of which has been enjoyed by Chinese players, Asian is athletic enough in many sports. Don't fool Pingpong because Sweden, Germany, and Russia have professional league of Pingpong and these 3 national squad had been reigning as BIG 3 of Pingpong in the Olympic and its World Cup till China started joining international sports match, the olympic in LA 1984. Especially Sweden had national sport hero in Pingpong and the game the Swedish played were attended by even their Swedish Royal Family. Back to argument of Timmy Chang, I can't understand why he was released by team after team in NFL, while Timmy himself didn't suffer fatal injury, and no other QB of current NFL had been great as Timmy Chang that made all time record of, passing yard, passing yard with TD, and pass complete % in NCAA history. Timmy 's case dissappointed me for feeling some kind of "glass ceiling", as far as NFL is non-scripted sport ( maybe ), while I don't care almost any "glass ceiling" in scripted holywood movie and such.
