@@Kolious_Thrace That's the first verse of the german national anthem. It's actually not illegal to play or sing it (and the second verse too), but of you do you're considered nationalist or politically far-right.

@@peterpharaol9191 oh, good to know. I think I read somewhere that playing the anthem of the third reich in public in Germany can cause you a lot of trouble, you might even end up in jail. Of course, I do not know German and I cannot tell the difference between the German anthem and the ‘’other one’’ The bad one it’s that who says Deutschland uber alles, isn’t it? I know that some verses of the original anthem were changed when he… came to power. It is a bit of a problem for non-Germans to distinguish the differences.

@@Kolious_Thrace Yeah, it's a bit complicated, but I hope I can explain it. There is no "anthem of the third reich". The anthem, that was used during the third reich is the "Lied der Deutschen" ("Song of the Germans"). It's first verse starts with "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles". It was created in 1841 and 1922 it was introduced as the german national anthem during the Weimar Republic. When the Nazis rised to power, they kept this anthem. It would often be played together with the "Horst-Wessel-Lied" (Song of Horst Wessel), the unofficial anthem of the Nazi Party. After the end of WW2, the "Horst-Wessel-Lied" was forbidden, but the "Lied der Deutschen" wasn't. The official german anthem today is just the third verse, however. So, in conclusion, the first (which is played in the video) and second verse are no longer part of the official anthem, but they aren't forbidden. As I explained in the first comment, playing and using it would cause you negative attention, but no judicial consequences.

Agreed😂 But it is understandable, moving to another country is hard. Everybody there expects you to speak their language fluently and know the cultural differences between both countries. I am offered to do an year abroad in Spain as a Student in a part time after school care. They would speak German completely at that school. But when I go outside…I have no clue. I don’t know a single word Spanish.

@@i_can_c_u_2295 When you go outside and you need to think fast, it's really hard because you don't know what's next and then you become afraid to speak and make mistakes and everyone laugh at you. I have learned english by myself during the pandemic, and I never had any conversation since I started, so I'm kinda afraid to not be able to be meaningful if you know what I mean.

@@renanvinicius6036 I was in London for 4 weeks and that was my first experience with a native English speaker. I was so nervous, but it was okay. I made one or two mistakes, but they knew what I was talking about…that was the main goal. And if the year abroad was is England, the US or Australia, it would be not that problem, because English isn’t that problem, but Spanish is. I don’t know a single word…I have to hope that they can speak English and would have to communicate like that.
