Because she had nothing, she couldn't have them. She was in the process if filing full custody paperwork when he killed them. He killed them because if he couldn't have them, neither could she.

I think they were trying to contrast his religious beliefs against the murder of his children to show he is not so religious in reality but more revengeful.

I'm sort of surprised to see this Pentecostal preacher is so level headed and making so much sense. I always assumed that Pentecostals were much more radical in their approach to the Bible, almost fanatical. That's the way they were in my small hometown in Ohio when I was growing up. The preacher had a good insight into Jones and what was making him tick.
I grew up Pentecostal nd my experience with the talking n tongues long hair but nothing to make one insane or fanatical unless u hd th predisposition to b a freak.
Basically Pastor, what you were trying to say is Tim was LEGALISTIC and he sucked at verbal & nonverbal social cues. Tim sounds a bit Aspie, but people with High Functioning Asperger's aren't insane, but they are usually lacking in empathy, but highly intelligent.
I've worked in the mental health field for 15 years and that's complete and utter bullshit. You're doing a disservice to people with this condition by spreading misinformation. Asperger syndrome is neither correlated with lack of sensibility (including empathy) nor with any specific level of intelligence. People with Asperger are not more prone to violence than anyone else.

Gosh I just feel like his lawyer asked questions that only benefit the prosecution! He does not drive home the point of his questioning “ever!” I know the prosecution only sits there and thinks “thanks for helping us prove our point.” This defense lawyer consistently stutters, he does not make clear what he is trying to prove, does not seem to ask questions that make his case etc. He consistently asks questions with no point ever! He makes the jury have to figure it out. The prosecution does and so the jury knows exactly why he is guilty. Poor poor defense!
All these parents that murder their children let their pride get in the way. Pride cometh before the fall. He was took on way to much. Especially with a traumatic head injury. Tragic all the way around and so avoidable

I've studied religion nd religious theory..nd have many books nd text on the subject. Anybody that watches TBN is bound to hv books. It doesn't mean ur crazy..maybe a little fanatical but most ppl I knw go to church every time th door is open nd pray in spirit. This is not unusual or uncommon.
he said a few things. The 6 year old, he hated, he made him do physical exercise so long that he said he found him dead after he went to bed, then made some weird excuse as to why he killed the others. Then he said there was a good chance that one of them would have done something bad later in life, so he stopped that. He said his 6 year old was going to electrocute him in his sleep, Tim thought he was messing with the electrical outlet and he wouldnt tell Tim what he was doing to he was doing, so that's why he did the extreme workout punishment. So, not really he was paranoid and delusional. He said that same kid said he'd kill Tim when he grew up, I would want to as well.
gjh I guess I was hoping he would give a reason. But there would never ever be a reason to ever kill even one child it is beyond heart breaking for those poor babies
