I heard the song like a couple dozen times but I always love how she changes up the pitches on her vocals. You can really tell that she is a veteran at a very, very young age. This song was a prelude to 'Burn'. When I heard 'Burn' for the first time, it was already 20 years of hard work. She's just singing forever. Mabuhay, TIna Arena! You have a huge fan here in Manila.
To the people commenting...when singers have bad days and can't hit their high notes, they have to keep it low and change the melody, but, for over 25 years of knowing Tina's voice, hers is different. When Tina has a bad day, she can't hit her low notes. This performance is clear proof. Tina has to change her songs when she can't hit her low nots and tries to keep it high. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. She avoided most of her low notes and tried to keep it high, but her voice wasn't in the best condition here. I loved it personally, all the strange textures when she's live compared to when she records and keeps it simple. But here she tried to keep it high and stretch the notes to avoid her low notes and melody which would come out very whispery and not solid at all. I know her voice so well. She did a good job here considering what she had to do on the spot.
totally agree. We have been listening to this extraordinary performer for 20 years and she does go high when she is tired or under the weather. That being said darling Tina still does any vocal changer automatically and organically
What a beutiful lady, singing a beautiful song. I will say however, at the start there were pitching issues with her voice. This is normal with live performances. But, when the chrous came, everything fell into place. She has an incredible range in her voice. The clarity is perfect too.
@@peterjeffery8254 I think she had just started out. Having sang with a band for 15 years, it can be a very scary place to be if you are not experienced enough at being in front of a crowd! I remember, I was nervous each time I got on stage, but after a while the nerves do settle and the confidence grows. Tina has a beautiful, powerful voice, and is a beautiful lady too
Inclined to agree. The choruses were good, actually if you have another listen, but she was kind of over-compensating on the verses. The album version is perfect. She's a great singer but this isn't her best performance of this song.
'Shocking' ?? she was off in bits and on point in others. I have heard her many times before and she was always amazing so maybe she had an issue with her throat. But as a fellow singer, please don't talk rubbish in saying 'shocking'. You haven't heard shocking in your life if you can say that.
