I have ALWAYS adored Tex Perkins and everything he's done. Never been a Tina Arena fan. . but he let her down so badly in this performance its no wonder she looks him up and down when he cruises on stage and fucks up immediately. He would have thought he was too cool to even rehearse for this. Tina blew me away. She put a new spin of heart wrenching emotion into that simple yet genious little song and her she never dropped out of her characters anguish through Tex's completely unprofessional blunder. Also a very difficult range to sing through the verses and she carried it well. Tex has a lower range than her and he still didn't cut it. So sorry to say I lost a bit of love for Tex on this one and gained a new respect for Tina Arena. Also her performance with Jeff Martin singing" Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush on Rockwiz is pure MAGIC. They both fucking nail it check it out.
Agreed. I've never liked tex particularly, but this shows who can sing. And I'm sure Tex knew that coming in, and he wasn't that comfortable with it, I'm sure. Tina has a great voice, and it shows in this. She's a great performer. I think it's great idea, having her sing the main bit, with him just chiming in. But he's embarrassing. It definitely wouldn't have worked the normal way around, because he doesn't have the voice for it. It could have been great, but he did what he did. Go Tina, Boo Tex!!
@@kevbres8930 she's taking herself too serious, I think that made him laugh...and Tex usually does covers as a joke. He likes to joke, that's not a crime(even on fuckin tv😁)
"WHO I USED TO KNOW" - FOR A PERSON = WHICH OR THAT IS USED FOR OBJECTS - GOOD GRAMMAR FOR MUSICIANS IS ALWAYS DESIRABLE TO TEACH THE KIDDIES GOOD MANNERS.
Did Tex Perkins ever do a cover of Dreams Never End? And why does Tina Arena remind one so much of Camille O'Sullivan, by way of her facial expressiveness, here?
Don't worry, this is spanish XDDD I'm just answering to 3prettylady in a very particular style XD Don't try to translate it, all these are idioms from my country XD bye!
Pinky Stomper "Former Australian stars" you say? Tina Arena is still releasing records and just had a platinum album hit last year. Maybe you should do some research before commenting.
They flipped it The original song & singer is not great but his strained voice suits the soulful sorrow & defeated angst of the lyrics It was quite daring for Tina to take the male part even if it didn't quite suit her voice & singing style Tex is just such an amazing entertainer - he knows his strengths & doesn't try to be Pavarotti or Elvis he just does his own macho style & is confident enough in his presence to focus on impacting the audience Tina is clearly in a different league as far as talent & technical brilliance as a singer but this doesn't always mean she won't have off nights or be susceptible to poor artistic choices - it's refreshing to see & hear her struggle - she is human & it can be a refreshing reminder that when she nails a live performance or her own songs & recordings that we are fortunate to witness something truly amazing in her talent & peak performances Tex Dark Horses Sweet Nothing album is an underrated masterpiece in my opinion - stunning musicianship, lyrics, songs & performances
I wish they'd chosen a different song to duet on. This song had it's 15, there's SO many timeless songs that would've been far better. I love both of these performers, both classy and better than this.
The choice of musical instruments is interesting. so was the idea of having Gotye's part sung by a woman and Kimbra's by a man ! Unfortunately, those two have BUTCHERED that wonderful song !
I love Tina, but she didnt' nail the verses, great on the chorus and he sucked! So awesome that she didn't start laughing when he did and kept her cool.
Oh dear. Love them both but.... no... not this song. Too low a register for them both. Love watching them though. Luckily there are millions of other fantastic songs they've sung that will obliterate this memory.
