I honestly thought this was a joke at first. I felt like I was on MTV punked. I was waiting for a cameraman to jump out, lol. You just can't make this stuff up. This video was forty-five minutes long originally. I went back and cleaned it up a lot, so please take that into consideration. I held my tongue on a lot of stuff and only said what I felt was necessary. The goal for this channel is to keep it real 💯 percent of the time. I share tricks of the trade, and give my honest opinion on everything, everyttime. My reviews can not be bought or swayed with affiliate programs or free products. If I endorse a product it's because I truly genuinely believe it is good and use it. @BassBrothersFishingDMV did a good job on this project. Obviously hes not a welder fabricator so he is limited in his capabilities, but I can tell he put a lot of thought and effort into the build. The new owner plans to use it to fish local electric only tournaments and the livewell is not going to cut it for him. Its just not big enough to keep 5 good fish alive. I have a feeling you'll see this boat on the channel again. ps: If you're thinking about putting the time and money into a boat build start with a welded hull. preferably 1448 or bigger. Hope you enjoy the video! "let's get back to work"

I started watching TBNation videos when I was back in GA and had a 1436 that I wanted to build, and they have does decent design ideas that you can pull from for inspiration for your own build, but a while back I saw the green boat that you did for Rob, and that was my first time seeing your work. It is immediately apparent that your build quality is a lot higher than theirs. It looks like your videos are just to document the build process, but the build itself is where the passion is at. That is not to say that your video quality is low, but rather to say that you can see the skill and attention that you give the boats that you build. I am not in a position to work on a boat while living out here in Hawaii, so I have just been doing build videos on my kayaks, but I do have 1648 Sea Ark that I am going to be building next winter when I am back in the mainland, and watching your builds is giving ideas for what I want to do with my boat, and showing me the quality that I need to build it to. Keep up the good work.

I’m in deep on a TBN build, won’t lie. I do have a welded boat… but she’s got a lot of holes in her, but she also has some Trickin in the Tin. I also support and follow all of them mostly Mike (yes, through Patreon because if it wasn’t for him, I would have bought before I built it), Ryan, Chris, Nate, Anthony and BBF. I’ve watched this BBF build from beginning to end and 95% of all these channels including TT. Matt you know I am a huge fan, but I don’t have your skills and the last time you came to Texas you nearly died in the heat. I’m in San Antonio, and that’s a long drive bro. We shall see how this goes down, it’s about showtime for my build. I guess I’ll have to make a series out of it or at least a walkthrough. I’m also starting a local Bass tourney trail here so it will get put to the test.

The lack of welding skill is what dominates my v-hull build (welded hull though) as well ... but it's more than enough for what I need. An afterthought: I was using 2mm aluminum angles for my own build and can confirm you actually can build a sturdy frame that's not flexing, Even if it's just riveted (though I never ever would pierce my hull, that's what the ribs are good for). And a note to the wiring (I didn't see what you did besides adding/changing the batteries): I cannot understand why most people fail to connect the negative battery terminals with the hull. Every technical specification on marine electrics I know of requires this connection to mass if your fuses just break the positive line.
@haydenkunes9046

From what I’ve seen, grounding negative terminals to an aluminum hull speeds up the corrosion process

@_larkin_321

@@TRICKEDTINS @haydenkunes9046 I suggest having a look at ISO 13297:2020. You definitely don't want to use your hull as part of a circuit, but still need a so-called negative mass. Why? Because any voltage leak to the hull should trigger the fuse of that circuit.

@TerrificFlow
@TerrificFlow 4 месяца назад
Different strokes for different folks... Tbn is trying to facilitate diy-er to improve on their own boat, that's their business. Your channel is more showcasing what you can do for a client. You gotta remember, the big audience is people looking to diy their boat, so welding is out for most of us. I still get inspiration from your build, but i can't duplicate your build without ton of equipment, press and tig welders, and years of experience etc. Your model is more better hauls, mostly welded so that's a premium. And then heavy duty structure. For the us audience Tbn build a place where you can get most of the stuff you need in one place. Just that alone must be amazing for the normal joe. When i compare the market here in france, where you gotta shop from 10 different websites just to find door handles that aren't crap, then another 10 to get proper wires for boating application etc.. And not mentioning finding a store that sell aluminium at a decent price without being a professional. If you look at michael lopez, he did make the transition to more welded builds, because it's the better way to build a frame (and maybe from seing your work ;) ), but quickly realized that's not what the audience can duplicate. He got feedback in that sense a few months ago. Now judging on this particular build which is from another guy, i was never of fan of using angle alongside the hull to support your frame. But i guess sometime it's the only way. Lopez did this a lot on previous build. 1/16 angle is light, i went with 2mm (1/16inch=1,5mm) and it still need support for longer span. But you can work with it. Square tubing is a lot stronger, no doubt about it after working with it. But again sometime tube can't be used so you gotta make it work with angles. Especially with rivets. You showed prices for the fuse panel, one is from Bluesea, the other one is a copy. And anything from bluesea is 2-3 times the price compared to cheap parts. Just check the bluesea website, msrp is 45$.. That's just a choice, i know i don't want to have to comeback and have issues with electrical, it's so annoying so i went with bluesea everything, and good quality marine wires with proper crimps and heat shrink tubing.
@TRICKEDTINS
@TRICKEDTINS 4 месяца назад
Im gonna have to do a budget build with no welding for you guys. My normal builds are tanks, lol. You could probably drop them off a 1story building and then go fishing. If you order all your parts from TBN for a complete build, you'll easily have 5k in material. To each is own. I recommend you at least start with a welded hull. As for the fuse panels, they are probably made in the same factory in china.
@TerrificFlow
@TerrificFlow 4 месяца назад
@@TRICKEDTINS I think it could be interesting seing what ideas you come up with to work around not having a welder. Maybe not having a bender too... That was the start of this all "jon boat build" on youtube. Just dudes with a few grand trying to improve their boat. It has now become building top of the line complex build to compete against oem bass boats. Like you said to each their own. I also struggle with the trend of eva foam. To cover my boat, i will cost more than all the aluminium i bought to build the damn thing.. And it will probably not last as long as my structure. It seems way too expensive for stuff build in a factory in china...

That said, I think you have the same problem as I do… You're soooo damn good at what you do, you might not consider other peoples' ability and level of expertise isn't anywhere close to yours and you can spot and call out No-Nos immediately and know when things aren't done to OUR higher standards. I get criticized all the time for expecting others to do things to the same level I do them, but I'm like you and it's cool for THEM, but they're NOT ON MY LEVEL! And there's nothing wrong with that. Not everyone can do things the way or to the levels you and some of us can. All that said, I completely agree with that BULLSHIT ASS .085" FRAMING BEING ASS, and all those cut up pieces for the edge framing… WassUpWitDat??!?!?
