Tiny Core Linux is a minimalistic Linux distribution that is designed to be extremely lightweight and flexible. The entire distribution, including the kernel, libraries, and core applications, is less than 200 MB in size. This makes it an excellent choice for users who want to run Linux on older or low-power hardware, or for those who want to build a customized Linux system from scratch.

goes straight to the comment to see if anyone notices that the whole video script is AI generated

They fooled me. I did notice that the script sounded like a marketing handout. These AI scripts and voices are getting harder to tell from the real thing ..they used to be quite mechanical.

For people that only use their computers for basic tasks and maybe *some* emulation, I think this OS is well fit for them. I love seeing how lightweight certain distros get and when it comes to TinyCore I think this is as lightweight as it gets for Linux, now I'm off to run it on a random 1999 laptop lol

There's a lot of hate for Tiny Core Linux here. I get the look is a bit dated, but it's a great distribution for older hardware. I used it for a while from a USB flash drive on an old laptop. It was pretty awesome.

Things considered old these days could easily handle a more common distro, this to me seems more like a "how low can it go" distro

Well, latest firefox is 2.3 and Chromium 23.0 .... Uh, very old stuff, unusable. I didn't even try the sound card to use...

The intro was sweet! However, as tiny as it is, I wouldn't say I liked its ancient flavour. I'd rather stick to a more modern OS.

If they had a simple way to switch to TinyCore Linux, with a great browser and ability to play youtube and blurays, DVDs and CDs & MP3s... that's great for most people.

It isn’t the most lightweight, Nanolinux is with 18 Megas.

Except that Nanolinux is a discontinued project as of 4 years ago - and which directs you over to Tiny Core Linux in the project discussion.

Puppy Linux runs even on a 20 year old Pentium 4 single core, has actual apps installed and looks great... Why would anyone use this BS? 😂

Honestly, I'm not crazy about the look of Puppy Linux and find Tiny Core Linux to look better. But both look dated to me. I used Tiny Core for a little while years ago when I wasn't able to get a hard drive. It was great from a USB flash drive I had. I probably wouldn't use it as my main system but it's a good portable system to keep on a thumb drive. It's really small (far smaller than Puppy Linux) and you can build it up from there with what you want. Core is 11 MB, TinyCore is 23 MB, and CorePlus (which comes with a bunch of extra stuff) is 248 MB.

You can use it anyway you like. It’s stripped down to the bare minimum so YOU can choose what’s on it. I’m trying it out to run a single page application on a raspberry pi zero. Rpi OS lite boots in 30 seconds ish. Tinycore boots in 5 seconds. I wouldn’t use this as a daily driver.
