I heard about a tiny home community near a residential area and the people living there were all very upset and protesting so maybe this was the only place they could build for now. But yeah, it’s too bad they can’t build it somewhere quieter and safer. Maybe one day.

Well, it started out that all that HHH money generated for the job, first went to contractors, who built half million dollars each apartments. That took four years, and now the second try at the well, tiny home TEMPORARY villages, each houses two people, with about a 175 person capacity. There are only two of those now...so that's roughly close to 400 people being housed. And of course, there are the requisite RULES of being able to stay there. Especially since it's a bi gender environment. Some motels and hotels across the state, give TEMPORARY vouchers, but some of these places got so trashed, or were burned beyond habitation, regrets ensued there weren't more standards for habitation. And, without any restrictions or controls on how many people from other states and countries can come here, with no means of support or way of tracing their histories...that's a liability to the safety of others. But a compromise of having ENOUGH to go around. And then, the state can't force the mentally ill/addicted into CARE specific to their needs. So that's an element of people who end up committing crimes, or in some other way, pose a problem that's threatening too and the state is hard pressed to contain that as well. The estimated amount of homeless in Los Angeles alone...is about 70,000. Who you can't MAKE go into shelters or housing where they'd have to have structure and restrictions. So, as pretty as these little villages are, for the next five minutes, that's hardly even a start. The office holders responsible, have been in office for DECADES. They had their chance, and they still aren't cutting it. Never did.

What about a functioning welfare system? No one needs to sleep on the streets if the government would actually care about everyone. Not all homeless people are bad people, some lost their jobs and its the governments job to financially support people who have no financial means to finance an apartment. Less homeless people, less social devision, less criminality. I would be happy to pay more taxes for it. It seems to work in countries like Switzerland or Germany. The people who still want to live on the streets will do it on their own will but at least help the people who want to make a living but cannot due to economical reasons.

This tiny home project is just fantastic to see. It's what people need - HOPE. Like they stated in the report; when people are living on the streets they are just surviving, and that's all the they can focus on during that stage. Providing Tiny homes gives people a chance to focus forward and start to build their future again. I not sure why everyone can't understand that, and also think what has happened to the homeless could happen to anyone in life. Nothing is for sure or guaranteed in life, but if we take care of each other, and come together then anything is possible to overcome eventually.

OHMYGOODNESS! This is SO fckng AMAZING❣️ I know the homeless road. It is cold, lonely, scary and tough. What’s really sad is the fact that we (taxpayers) pay an extraordinary amount of money to house criminals, but yet “society” doesn’t want “this” near their neighborhoods. Like the man said, “Would you rather encampments or would you rather a tiny-home community with beautiful artwork and CLEAN, not to mention, is organized and people are quite supervised?”

Such a great idea! I got a few suggestions to this tiny home community Suggestions: -add a place to grow plants and give the ppl that live there seeds so they could make a living and dont have to buy food as much,thus saving their money which they can spend on water,electricity,heat,etc. -replace the roofs with solar panels and small wind turbines to save electricity and reduce pollution,and not only that but this could and would lessen their electricity bill,thus saving more money. -add bus stations and stops nearby so the residences of these tiny homes can atleast go anywhere just for a tiny payment depending on how far their destination is.

Most are not homeless. Most are drug addicts who prefer to not take part in society by choice because the drug is more important. That is why the Dutch stopped calling it "homelessness" and now call it the "OPEN DRUG SCENE". because that is what it REALLY is. I'm not saying homelessness doesn't exist and people don't need help.. But the help needs to be geared far more towards cleaning people up. More police, special jails to clean people up, record wiped if you get clean and then transfer to housing. Do more to stop heroine flooding into the country, punish the countries its coming from, put drug tariffs on Mexico. These are steps if you actually WANTED to end tent cities in America.

What do you think these mini-favelas are going to be like after a few months or years? And besides that, either this is on such a small scale that it amounts to nothing, or it'll be massively scaled up and then it's not a mini-favela but a large favela. It's not sensible at all, it's a failure. If big, nice apartments like the one we see here were actually available, they could just hand them out. What need would there be for an air-conditioned tool-shed first? You were tricked. The woman shown is 100% not like typical homeless people. This was a staged segment. Fast forward five years: hundreds of thousands of these things are all over California, many with more than one person in them. They frequently catch fire. There's more violence in and around them than in shelters or on sidewalks today. Rape, drugs, murder, disease, stench, you name it. And it's partly thanks to this report. The same MSM campaigned intensively and tirelessly in the 90s for more opioid prescriptions. Horrified doctors said 'No, addictions will skyrocket and it'll be a disaster.' 'Doctors are heartless', the MSM said, and kept up their campaign until it succeeded. Now look at your country. Stop listening to the MSM.

@@ValerieJean757 All of the shelters I stayed in were 30 days, max. I wonder, is this temporary housing? I think sometimes people get too excited about tiny home communities that are transitional housing. Technically, people can stay in transitional housing for up to 2 years, but I was made to leave one after 3 months because I was harassed and assaulted by residents due to my disability. So they decided the place wasn’t “appropriate” for me. I called in a lawyer and everything but I didn’t win. They got rid of me because they didn’t want to be responsible if something happened to me. Often, people are kicked out for breaking rules that are hard to follow or “not meeting goals” they set for you. Also, transitional housing took $1000/month of your cash income, if you had one (work or GA/SSI/welfare). It might be more now. If this is a real housing project you can stay in, then it really is progress!
@ValerieJean757
@ValerieJean757 2 года назад
@margarita brannon Maybe in some cases that is true. However I think the reverse is also true and many times the homeless have been abused by people who should have cared. @brittaolson6550
@brittaolson6550 2 года назад
@@TruckTaxiMoveIt That is rough. I hope it’s not transitional housing. If you have a job or welfare; they took up to $1000/month in cash, it’s probably more now because it was the 90s when I lived in one and I know they still do that. It’s almost impossible to get out of transitional without an under the table or illegal job, which is hard to get away with because they want to know where you’re going every day; have curfews, etc. It would be nice if they did it a different way, but most tiny home programs for the homeless do it as transitional housing. I mean, every shelter I stayed in was 30 days maximum, but sometimes just saving your income for a month gives you more of a chance.

You have homeless living in your back yard? Shitting and pissing on the streets? Breaking and entering homes and cars? Leaving used syringes on the ground where kids walk by? You probably don't, and shame on YOU. Stay in your safe bubble, sit down, and shut the F**K up.

This is an absolutely incredible thing that they've done, the hardest part about being homeless is trying to get back on your feet from there. I've been there and when I finally had a place to go it's something you feel so much gratitude for. People look at homeless with a negative outlook and fail to realize they are just like everyone else, but lost their homes, jobs, etc. either one by one or all at once and they need someone to care enough to help them so they can get back on their own. And this probably makes them feel safer as well

I only agree with a portion of what you say. "People look at homeless with a negative outlook and fail to realize they are just like everyone else". Well no, not fully. Not really, they are not. The negative outlook, isn't unjustified, nor irrational. Most homeless people, have serious problems they are a threat to themselves and others. There IS the factor of addiction and mental illness, and clearly very sick people cannot be left to their own devices. We see what the results of that are. There are empty hospital facilities all over this state, that aren't repurposed to care for the sick in the long term. Those down on their luck, who's financial struggles are due to less work available to them, and less affordable housing, aren't helped by this state constantly allowing a flow of people from other states and other countries to compete for what will be limited resources. And then, you have the criminal element, that is released from prison or jail, or who have always been criminals, and they will prey on the vulnerable. Each category of homeless person, has to be catalogued, and each of them and their problems, addressed appropriately. And so does how many and how much of it, can be effectively and efficiently done? Making a big show of these tiny homes, or the one or two people who got a nice place like this lady...should have been dealt with decades ago. It's NOT enough, and never will be, if the problem and it's faucets that starts them, isn't shut off.

@@regand7830 You are correct Regan. There has been housing available for homeless for years, but programs come with rules. Many homeless rather not live with rules. Others are not ready to give up drugs or crime; not to mention individuals with mental health issues who do not want to take medications. Once crime and drugs start happening in these tiny homes, how long before they become just like the tent cities? The issue is not assistance and services, it’s getting people to accept them and make lifestyle changes. You can lead a horse to water but…

@@johnarmenta2199 Why so much hate towards our Creator? There are so many comments on this channel and you chose to stop at this one so you could rage against God. God gave people a free will. In order to fix all of mankind’s messes in this world, God would have to override freewill. Let me explain what would happen if He did that. He would have to program us all like a robot. To stop a person from making the wrong choice or make a bad decision, He would have to program all of our decisions into us. Then there would be no crime, no hurt, no pain. You have now lost your ability to think freely though. If you’re programmed you no longer have the choice to hate. This would mean God would have to program you to only love. This in itself isn’t love. It’s a programmed reaction. Love demands a choice. God doesn’t want you to love Him or anyone else because you’re programmed to do it. He wants real authentic love. The hurt, pain, crime in this world is the result of too many people not choosing to love one another. God’s heart hurts worse than yours does as He watches His creation homeless on the streets and going to war with one another. The reason people still worship God today is because God has said, seek me with your heart, soul and mind and I will be found by you. Those of us who seeked Him in this way has found Him, He has revealed Himself to us. God is real and He has asked us to deny ourselves and help those in need. Too many people care more about themselves than helping others and this world is a result of that. Have you given up all your selfish desires and live a life of helping the homeless, the needy?
