I hope to have half of the energy when I get to your age, your work harder then 2 of most twenty year old young men, stay young have fun, and beautiful work my friend
The story of your house build is warning to me because of your son and his friend helping. Also, it's so very American. Thanks again for sharing. Turned out nicely. 😃
This is FANTASTIC❗❗❗😎 I do not understand why people did thumbs down. You do EXCELLENT QUALITY WORK. A Perfectionist❗Hake with them. Keep doing what you're doing. GOD BLESS YOU from MICHIGAN
I like to see a video where you can tell someone knows what yhey are doing. Nice job, Sir. The voiceover was a nice touch, too, rather than a winded commentary as you worked.
These 2 videos were so nicely done and helpful. I'm in the planning stage of my tiny house build and I don't have much experience building anything so I really appreciated watching everything step by step
It's nice to see that simple life still exists. I did my tiny home on a 30ft Gooseneck and a little more complex than yours. I put 55k in it with me building it but I travel with mine do to my wife being a travel nurse. I love the cabin sir and enjoyed watching how you built it. I can say I would go with 2 batteries for you battery Bank with 2 100 watt Dolores panels that will last for 10+ years. Thank you for the video.
Thank you for the comment. You must have quite a tiny house! This thing I built is basically a place to get in out of the weather. I did it as cheaply as I could and still have a decent little cabin.
I truly ad more your craftsmanship it's crazy to me that you build this with your bare hands exactly the way wanted. It's a dream of mine to do the same but it's very unlikely I will ever get to do it so I live vicariously through builders like yourself to get my tiny house fix. Great job! 👍🏾😄
What lovely tiny house, great idea having the porch with screened windows, you'll get plenty of air flow into the little house on a warm night without the pleasure of the bugs company. I wish you many happy adventures in your tiny home. Cheers from tasmania!
There is something to be said about keeping it simple. This thing is awesome! I'm 53 and when I was a child oh probably about 4 or 5 I remember my mom reading a book to me, it was called the Boxcar Children where these kids lived in a train boxcar, and I thought that was so cool. This reminds me of that. Thanks man. :)
My husband and I have just started the process of building our tiny home. Just now got the funds, and now to put our three year plan together to build a tiny home to live in :) I just wanted to say, I so enjoy your videos... You sure have taught us some useful things to incorporate into our tiny home :) Thankyou for sharing :)
I LOVE IT... IM LOOKING INTO BULGING ONE OF THESE FOR MY DAUGHTER AND I. ONLY A BIT BIGGER! YOU DID GREAT!! NOTHING LIKE A MAN WITH REAL WORKING HANDS!!
And Tim could actually use the night stand as a seat for his beautiful table I think to.. great job...!!! You know everything is *square to the world* when you cut, level everything yourself... I sure get that...👍
I think you did a great job and love the wood work that you built with your own hands. one day I will find someone that would want to do this as much as I would. God bless.💕
Hi Mr. Tim, Thank you for checking in on our Facebook page! I've shared your build and will be highlighting it in an upcoming blog post. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Stay happy, Mrs. P
I like your little cabin. Something like this is what I've been looking into for a hunting/fishing weekend cabin. Was thinking about getting a RV, but I really like the way this came out - simple is all I'm looking for, and the RV's are made so low quality. I could park something like this at my camp and not have to worry too much about it for years.
Tim- Thank you for the detailed breakdown of the build- I have been considering building my own for some time now. Hope you enjoy your time in the woods and maybe harvest some nice bucks out of it!
Thanks. I still need to build a kitchen cabinet for a couple of coffee cups, plates and silverware etc. I wish I would have put in an exhaust fan too. Cooked up some pancakes and stunk up the whole place. Ha!
Love your video, I notice you put great thought into everything...unless you're an early riser I would add shades...enjoy your weekend home, it's a blessing to retire and enjoy your time both with family and alone.
Was wanting to see it completely finished inside, hope you'll show that some time. Maybe we can see how it looks when it's in the woods. Would like to see what you did for cabinets & storage. Really like this build, along with that rocking chair. Hope you enjoy this cabin for many years!
Thank you Brian. I have still not finished the inside like I want it. One day, I will get back into my woodshop and make some cupboards etc. Then, I will make another video. I have enjoyed the cabin very much. Thanks for watching.
you've done a great job sir. all mostly you and with precision. I salute your work. plenty would kill to have your skill. I hope you're enjoying the fruits of your labor.
Thanks Lenny. I am very fortunate to have had a father who taught me to do a lot of different things. Over the years, I have enjoyed building a lot of small buildings and a few big ones! I have learned as I went along and bought the tools along the way. Yes, I am enjoying my cabin and my retirement! Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment.
Thanks Callie. I wanted to show people that if they wanted a basic cabin that it could be done relatively cheaply. (Compared to the full featured Tiny Houses which are miniature houses that can cost as much as buying a real house. ). P.S. Glad you liked my little table. Ha!
Thanks Amber. I have been building all my life as a hobby and learned along the way. Made lots of mistakes, believe me but learn from them and try no to repeat them. Glad you liked my video.
Thanks for sharing your video. I really enjoyed watching the 2 from start to finish. I am in the process of starting a transition to Tiny Living myself and videos like you've done here are very informative and methodical in the approach to show the steps. I look forward to my first Tiny House build :)
As a millennial living in a time where every thing has gotten so expensive, especially since jobs don't pay as much, I'm considering buying a tiny home for $5,000 and renting a piece of land. I love this video! Thanks for sharing!
Between this video and the last, you make it look so effortless! I definitely have my work cut out for me, with plenty of researching and planning before I even consider this, but you have inspired me, sir! Great job, love your work!
Thanks a lot. Yes, I did my share of research and planning before jumping into the project. Just remember, It will cost you three times what you originally plan. haha
I would love to jump on the tiy house bandwagon. I think it would be like camping everyday. They are small but really how big of a house does one really need. I like the aspect of no house payment, being able to move if it you wanted too. Tiny house living seems the new way to build.
Congrats TimTools99, your TinyHouse turned out great! Nice table too. Hope you have the Mrs. around to enjoy all the spoils. Not really my business but if you don't there's plenty of single women out there who'd be lucky to partner up with you my friend.
I had some of the material (windows, door etc) so it's hard to say and I am still spending! Ha. I have spent as much in accessories for the cabin as I did for the building materials. The heater, pipe for propane, fittings, electrical system, solar panel/controller etc really drove the price up. I will easily have $5000 + in it.
Great looking place Tim! I am looking to build a tiny house myself. I appreciate the amount of education you've given me to assist me to do this. If I had any negative feedback, it would be that I wish you would have filmed your wiring and plumbing. Otherwise, keep up the great work! Subscribed. :)
Yes, I agree. I should have shown how I ran the wiring and hooked it up. The 12 volt wiring was new to me. Other than wiring up trailer lights, I had never done wiring for a camper. I had to research that and figure it out so I realized afterwards that I did not take videos of that adventure. Thanks for watching my video and leaving the feedback.
Very nice work. Something like this might be an option in the future as a guest cabin on some property we have in central Texas. The biggest difference is it will need AC, but either a window unit or a mini split would work well in a small space like that.
Yes, you are right. It would work great for a guest cabin. I'm going to build a bed next with drawers for storage underneath. These small cabins should have lots of storage figured in.
Amazing job sir. THank you very much for posting your work your an inspiration to me and many more it just goes to show your never to old to do stuff your self. I really enjoyed both videos I plan to make something similar for myself, I wanted to ask if you could make a video showing how to wire the cabin especially for the solar. Thanks again stay healthy and well.
You the original Tim the Toolman Taylor ain't you? Lol awesome build my good man. Hope you have many hours of enjoyment from this great little abode! Cheers
Thank you so much for sharing this! I want to build one just like it, but I don't have a clue on how to get the power and water into the walls. Could you make a video on how you built that in the way you did? Thanks again, Tim! Amazing work!
Thank you Sandra. Installing the wiring is not difficult. If you have never done it, maybe buy a book that will teach you. Depends on if you want AC or if you plan to run off a solar panel or in my case, I did both. Maybe get an electrician friend to help you. Good luck
What ingenious things you thought of. I’m love the double table! Smart man! But it looks like a one person tiny cabin. No room for a lady visitor. 😊 🌸annie
Two people take up the same amount of space when doing the horizontal how do ya do. Or as my son says "the ill freaky Na Na." Not sure what that means but I am almost certain it is modern day speak for woopy.
Cool! I like it! And I just happen to have a spare 16' trailer. But I already have a list of projects I want to do, longer than I have left on planet earth haha.
I really love the layout of the video and I am so glad that you showed us exactly what you did. I'm thinking I might use this design (with some changes of course) when and if my boyfriend and I move, possibly install a small 5-minutes type shower and a composting toilet over where you have the bed area, and add a loft over the porch for our bed, with the kitchen area below it (Just have to make sure everything is off before going to bed or it will be a heated bed that is for sure).
That sounds like a nice plan, Megan. The loft is really the way to go for your bed if you plan to install a toilet&shower. In a Tiny House, the only way to go is up! lol. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching.
+TimTools99 thank you :) I was thinking of building one of these to live in until I can build my offgrid home and then it can be used as a guest house or a traveling house.
Wonderful idea! I found that the old trailer frame that I used (while it heavy duty) is not rated for the weight that i have in that tiny house. Not a problem for me because it is making a one way trip to our land where it will stay permanently. If I were building one to haul down the road, I would definitely buy a trailer rated for 10,000 lb. or more. You will want that thing to be really stable going down the road. It will take quite a truck to pull it around too. Have fun! good luck.
That's a tough one. I didn't ... I just built and hoped that it wouldn't be too heavy when I got done. haha. That's why I suggest you buy a good sturdy trailer and then use the lightest building materials you can find.
That is one awesome build thank you for the video I am just starting to build my own tiny house. A friend of mine gave me an old 1973 Jayco camper trailer I am gutting and going to be doing a video series on the new build. I also built my own house and have videos on the build as well. TFS
I really enjoyed both part one and this one. I wish you would have showed the construction of the interior. To learn how you decided to insulate it, and what specific materials you used for the interior, as well as how you wired it. I understand the framing aspect of what you did, as well as the roofing, and exterior work. But beyond that I still have a lot of questions. Anyways, really well done, looks beautiful!
Thanks David. I used regular rolled insullation. 6" in the floor and 3 1/2 in walls. Then I used 1/4 louan for my walls because it is very light weight. As far as the wiring goes... I have two separate systems. Regular 120VAC house wiring in case we ever get on the grid at our land. Then, I bought a solar panel, controller and batter and wired up for 12 volt. I kept it very basic just to run 12v lights and charge my cell phone etc. That part of the project was new to me and I did a lot of reading to decide how to do it. I have a video on 12v wiring that shows the basics. I should do another video to actually show how I actually run the wire etc. Thanks for watching.
THIS HOUSE IS AWESOME!!! Tim, I have a question though, where do you use the bathroom? Other than that its awesome how you made this! Keep up the good work. :)
Tim. thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I'd love to build one of these but a little bigger. maybe you come out to the catskills and help me build one.
This motivates me! I want to buy a tiny piece of land and house a about twice this size. Own my own house and not be in debt like the rest of the world. What do you all think and what should the layout/blueprint be? Thanks in advance!
Make some more please!! This was awesome, I see you didnt add a bathroom to keep things simple but maybe in the next one you can add a toilet somewhere? and some cabinets for the kitchen.
@@TimTools99 Since you are retired, Tim, why not make some retirement money and build 1 more, filming from start to finish, explaining as you go, as well as document the exact size and amount of Timber, siding, roofing, insulation, and miscellaneous costs? You could convert the video to a DVD and easily sell it, along with your blueprint and cost estimations, for $49.95. You have over a quarter million views on this, and almost ALL of the people watching have some kind of interest in building a tiny home. If even only 1% of the viewers bought your DVD and eBook/PDF/blueprints, that would make you over $125,000. Your second one could be a little more elaborate...like adding a loft upstairs to sleep more people, plus a shower/bathroom inside . With your skills and talent, I do believe you could sell this. Start to finish, one of the best builds.voiceovers I have seen, and I have seen HUNDREDS of them. If you do it, explain and document the solar wiring, which I have learned is quite complex when you have an inverter, storage batteries, several outlets, etc. People would pay good hard cash to learn how instead of having to hire an electrician to install all the solar components.. Anyway, thanks for this. I plan to build one of these in a couple years, and have liked, saved, shared to FB, and subscribed. Keep the videos coming brother, this was awesome!
Wow Paul! You have a lot of confidence in me! I enjoy so many “hobbies” and I usually jump from one to the next. I appreciate your suggestion to build another tiny house and do a DVD project. That would be quite an undertaking and there was a time that I might have done it. My situation right now does not afford me the time that I had a couple years ago. Maybe things will change so that I could do such a project. We will see. I sure appreciate your kind words.
