Tiny trucks gaining popularity in Hawaii 

They should be Legal at all times. American Car Manufacturers should be building and selling to the American People. There's a Gas Shortage. Perfect example of the Government destroying the Country saying "We are here to help you"

I miss the small trucks we had in the 70s in the 80s. Even Tacomas are too high & big.

My dads 1980's Toyota SR5 was a badass pickup. Got our dirt bikes to the track just fine.

I am puzzled why US automobiles do not build cars and pickups these small, even if there's demand for it. Instead they made their cars and pickups bigger to skirt through government regulations.

That's the best for Hawaii small island should have smaller vehicles, come on now with the safety I mean people from the past have been driving without this high tech safety technology and the result people are more responsible in driving but the reason really to buy this kind of vehicle is the fuel economy, ordinary people are tight right now please understand

To DOT The trucks are being bought because you DOT have not done it. They get great mpg and are useful. Japan had the right idea America not so much.

Japan's vehicle inspection (i.e. SHAKEN 車検) is the toughest and most expensive in the world. All vehicles have to pass a government safety and emission test every 2 years to be driven in Japan. It's why JDM car imports are generally in good conditions, and are imported by many countries from Russia to Africa. (The ones that are not road-safe don't make it to the auction and are used for spare parts or scrapped in Japan.) As for Kei-Trucks imported to the US, they re purchased through car auctions in Japan at low prices because people in Japan don't buy 25 year-old vehicles unless they're special cars like GTR, Celica, Civic Type R, Supra, etc. The import/custom/shipping cost is usually more expensive than the vehicle price in Japan.

25 years? That's a lot a depreciation for the trucks. You have to do a lot of repairing for the old truck.

$6500 is a lot of money to pay for a 30 year old truck that has little power.

When the Government starts talking about regulation it means they want to start collecting taxes and fees! They will find a way to get their money from people buying these truck one way or another!

what about motorcycles?, ban them before you ever ban a 4 wheel vehicle. Mom was a trauma nurse and the amount of motorcycle deaths from minor accidents was insane.

Most of the trucks seen here are the honda ACTY with a 3 cylinder E0 series engines produced from 88-21. Parts are plentiful for these shipped, because this is a utility vehicle in Asia. Similar to trying to get parts for a US domestic that shares parts with multiple bodys. Here in Cali they aren't legal for freeway use, but some people put 1000cc motorcycle engines in them, and they start flying.

It’s a 25 plus year old vehicle THAT YOU CANT GET PARTS FOR AND VERY FEW MECHANICS WILL EVEN THINK ABOUT WORKING ON. Buying one of these IS STUPID!!!!

Cheap. Would love to buy a bigger truck but can't afford to. What would it take to get it through your thick head. We just need basic transportation. Even used unreliable cars are price out of range. Like everything else in Hawaii.

Rather have Chinese EV. Those old petro vehicles are very polluting and not efficient. Japan must be so happy to recycle those to foreign land with profits.
