In this video a tinySA is used to observe how a broadband magnetic loop amplifier behaves with strong signals. Signal compression is assessed and the level of the generated harmonics versus the strength of the amplifier output signal.

Thanks for another great video. I have been using my Tiny SA for a few months now, I have resolved a very bad noise issue in the HF bands

What function does the waterfall display indicate lt os it just for show?

The waterfall acts as a visual memory. And with your eyes it is often possible to spot weak signals in the noise as you can see in the video around 2:00

How did you adjust the waterfall to the higher dbm floor (hence the reddish color scheme) and still keeping the low dbmaround -80 to 110dbm value that usually would make a darkblue colors aint the waterfall a slave to the dbm values at the right.? maybe its old firmware with the red being the nominator at 80 to -110dbm, as it almost looks like its reversed coloscheme for the waterfall?

@@ErikKaashoek I see, and the blue noisefloor as the dominant tone is prefered, imo. Its so shockingly easy to put new firmware on these TinySA / Ultra with stm32cube, so if one would want to try this old fw with red as the dominant floor color, do you recall what the latest old fw is with that that waterfall colorscheme.? I understand that it will be limited fw, where certain features settings etc. are not yet present. big thumbs up for your work Erik, Im gobsmacked how featurerich and comptent these TinySA tools are.

Which magnetic loop amplifier did you use? Thanks for the great instructional videos.

Is there a photo available for the physical setup of this measurement? How large was the transmit loop and how close to the receive loop?
@ErikKaashoek
@ErikKaashoek 3 года назад
The receive loop is 1.5m diameter. The transmit loop 30cm. Distance 4m

@@ErikKaashoek thank you for the video and quick reply to my question. I intend to repeat your experiment with my MFJ amplified loop and Elecraft RF generator.
