Hi Tionne, last night I watched the video on TLC (5/14/24) and my attention was mainly drawn to you. I saw some of what my Tee Tee went through in you and I feel that during some of the interviews you looked like you were in pain and trying to cope. If it's true, that's the STRENGTH sicklers have -- the ability to keep on pushing no matter how much pain they're in. You're an inspiration to everyone who is living with a chronic illness, especially Sickle Cell. I am the mother of a 25 year old daughter who was diagnosed with Sickle Cell SS when she was 1 week old, so we're very familiar with hospital stays, transfusions, medications, IV's, missing out on functions and THE PAIN!!! Her name is Kiarra Brigham -- her nickname is Tee Tee as well! When Tee Tee was 18 years old and graduated High School, she went through a Bone Marrow Transplant and for the last 6 years, she has been Sickle Cell FREE! She's taking accelerated courses to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, with her field of study focusing in Hematology/Oncology, specializing in Pediatric Sickle Cell. On a few occasions, Tee Tee has even spoken on World Sickle Cell Day at the Phoenix Children's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Once she obtains her degree, I feel my Tee Tee, as a nurse, will be an inspiration not only to the sicklers, but to their parents as well since she actually lived through and with what they are going through now. Even though you've lived with Sickle Cell majority of your life, as did Tee Tee, there is a light. Sometimes it's just good to know that someone can honestly relate to what you're going through and to let you know that you're not the only one and you're not alone. Lastly Tionne, is a Bone Marrow Transplant an option for you? Did any of your children inherit Sick Cell or the trait? If you just feel like talking or if you ever have time, I'm sure Tee Tee would love to hear from you. She can be reached at 602-380-1031. Stay strong honey and God Bless you!
