Tim's video was VERY thorough (2.5 hours) & I love his comments - but you managed to demo the same techniques in less than an hour - TY for speeding up parts!!
Right!? 😍 I never would’ve thought to use them that way (it’s like Tim is a crafting genius or something 🤣) but I’ll be painting ALL the fabrics from here on out!
I really like the way you show the opposite with acrylic paint versus distress paint it makes it more obvious why distress paint is so special. I also like the tips of applying it to the book rather than a card, I’m thinking of putting it on paper clay pieces.
Thanks for this great video! Is Glycerin or gum arabic perhaps added to the Tim Holtz distress paints? They seem to resist dye based inks, as they are waterproof, but they are acrylic which are water based. So confused. Would buy them but they are £4.99 for a 1oz bottle and thought I could use my existing acrylic paints instead!
I’m not sure what they have added but they definitely are different from traditional acrylic paints. Maybe see if you have a local craft/scrapbook store that carries them which might make it cheaper to try out than ordering them online.
Great video! You have been watching TIm..... you explain his creations well!. I have both dauber, and squeezes too. I do love these paints. I also love Arteza’s Acrylic and Gouache.
I finally found some these paints on sale and am excited to use them and was worried about the top drying so thanks for doing this video and it helps me so thank you.

Love the versatility of the Distress paint. Really like the resist effect of the blue green and metallic gold paint! Thanks for sharing all these ideas. I’ve got some practicing to do now that you’ve shown all these methods...and maybe pick up a few more Distress paints 🤣😂
As I explained in the video, it depends on the quality of acrylic paint. Cheaper, craft paints have a lot of filler and so they start to break down when you introduce water. Higher quality, artist grade acrylic paints may be able to take on more water but, in my studies, I’ve seen even nice paint flake off the canvas when too much water is introduced to the paint.
