Tipper - Jettison Mind Hatch (Album Review & Catalog In Brief)

I dig the non bias approach. I think the reason so many tipper fans are connected to this album is because a lot of the tracks have been played live over the years. A lot of us have specific memories and emotions tied to these songs, even before the album came out. Cool hearing a review from a non fanboy. I'd love to hear your review of some of his uptempo LPs All the singles are uptempo for the most part, EPs are mostly downtempo

Tipper is seriously one of the most kind hearted humble humans in the scene, and ive never actually heard him talk lol. He has his own festival that goes towards charities, and literally sold his music to get heart surgery.

Great to get your view on this, even though I think it blew me away a little more than you (maybe I just go nuts for intricate sound design). I also appreciate how you always dig into the back catalogue to give context. I will for sure be checking out Broken Soul Jamboree as I also enjoy ethno type sounds a la Shpongle. I still think this guy is one to watch. Cheers!

I respect this review but Dave Tipper is really a better live act! His live shows do his music much more justice than his (also great) studio albums

Tip Hop was literally the first Glitch Hop release. It created the whole thing and then with Wobble Factor he pushed it further and inspired a whole wave of glitch producers.

Soul jamboree is insanwly beautiful

Tipper is hands down one of the top 5 talented djs/producers of our times. If you go see him live, you will see exactly why hes so rare and talented. Your body will do things that you didnt know you could do, hes worth the $$ to go see. Promise. Party on folks! 👍🤘😜

I loved the sound design on this album

Broken Soul Jamboree is the Album the re-ignited my passion for electronic music and inspired me to make a legit effort to make some of my own, highly recommended.

Fun fact, Bassnectar modeled some of his earlier work off of Tipper. Also I have to agree with the sentiments of others here in the comments. Dave has a good amount of EPs that showcase his uptempo talent and his live performances are IMO some of if not the best in the industry.

If your giving him props on his insane sound design based off of albums that you found off the internet then you should see him Live and I promise his music is completely different then the music he releases

Thanks for going down the Tipper rabbit hole! I think your review was really fair. I would like to request that you consider doing the same with Culprate - he is currently in the process of writing a crowd funded experimental record which should be out next year. He did the same a few years back (the album was called “Deliverance”) and it was a masterpiece.

You missed Flunked and Lattice- both great albums

Tipper is the best. He makes my rig sound so good. Literally everything else I listen to just sounds flat compared to his productions

Putting out albums since 2000? He was in groups since ‘93/‘94 and one of them, Crunch, is amazing and had a great lifespan, Dave has been at it since before I was born (‘96)!!

Surrounded... the only Tipper album i really ever got into. It really is magical!

i feel that by missing some of the Uptempo EP's in his catalog you did yourself a big disservice towards the experience of Jettison Mind Hatch. alot of very good tracks that help build through his sound design

The hype is not overblown. You just didn't fully experience his work. His work is meant to be experienced under the influence of a careful mixture between LSD, ketamine and DMT hits with occasional whippits mid-song.

I recommend checking out his EP's. much heavier but still very interesting dance floor oriented music that he hasn't put into any albums since wobble factor.

Broken soul has still gotta be my favorite album but this one was good and I bought it off of Bandcamp in a heart beat once it was dropped. I think hearing his music as a newlistener really had my jaw dropped but now that I have become more familiar with lots more electronic music/IDM his work doesn’t blow me away as much as it once did. Still mad respect for him and appreciate the fact that after first hearing his music his music my musical tastechanged exponentially. Saw his big red rocks show in 2015 and that was pretty damn impressive. Forever upset that I missed buying a Forward Escape vinyl release like the puny jabroni that I am.

Forward Escape again? Are you fucking kidding me? Do you know anything about music production at all? As a producer myself, this is completely ridiculous to hear. Every track has a completely different vibe while still holding up as an album and indeed being even better as a whole.
