I made a list and added just about EVERY one of Jim's ideas. Then, I actually got the chance to meet Jim at the Pleasureway Rally at Bonelli Bluffs in May 2021. Jim invited everyone to his site, where he had laid out every one of these items and offered advice and tips. He even gave me an extra clear sewer extension that he had. I really enjoyed Jim and his great advice. Tip: Ask his lovely wife for an example of one of her photo books. They're AMAZING!

If you are an RV or boater you become a gadget person very quickly. Perfection does not start when you buy either, but comes through trial an error or learning from other's mistakes. Great advice. on the tips and tricks. I always buy a preowned RV or boat so you get all those loops from the start and not having to pay for all the things which don't work from the start. If you want to know more about off grid in vans just check out the Winns video's on how they re did his moms new van with proper power and batteries for extended living off the grid.

Since I also have a fold n go grill and bought the adapter hose before I found out the van propane is low pressure, today I decided to do a test. After 10 minutes with the van propane, the temp reached 565F which isn't a good sear but would do a slow cook. Then after 10 minutes using the green propane canister it got up to 742F. So the canisters are best but if I run out during a cook I could finish up with the hose. I used a laser temp gauge. I took photos but couldn't post here. I do wish there was an unregulated insert for the fold n go. I did post the photos on the PW group in FB

Thanks Debbie and Jim!! Some great tips there. Nice to see a Lexor rig in the wild - there are very few videos on RU-vid of actual owners with Lexors. I’m trying to decided between both rigs. Love the nimbleness of the Ascent and parking anywhere option. But the Lexor has a much reduced price point that makes getting into a Pleasureway a more realistic option. Would love to hear your take away thoughts on the Lexor Debbie.

We would have purchased the Lexor except that John didn't fit in the driver's seat. Now that PW is making the OnTour, I think that is an even better option. Comes with a Compressor fridge and Agile can do their Ride Improvement Package on them.

moondog33, I chose the Lexor because I didn't want to deal with a diesel but I wanted the build quality that you get in a Pleasure Way. It's about 1 1/2' longer than the Asent, but you get a little more storage and it fits is a normal parking lot space. your can't go wrong with either one. Jim

We have the same refig in our 2020 Lexor. We had three additional fans installed, two on the upper exhaust and one for intake near the lower vent and they run all of the time. It has made a world of difference. Our recent rip the lows at night were in the 70s and the highs in the mid 80s. Before the install we could not keep the refrigerator near 40 F when using the maximum cooling. Now we generally had the cooling set between 1/2 and 2/3 and were working to keep it above 32 F. The highest temp we saw as 41 when the until was in full sun and totally closed. However, within 1 1/2 hours at full cooling the temp dropped to 27 F.
@theaminsk8411
@theaminsk8411 3 года назад
@@stephensinger4686 do you mean the addition of fans made the food in the refrigerator freeze? We are getting a new Lexor in a couple of months & are considering replacing the refrigerator right away because we want a refrigerator that works correctly & reliably. The salesman suggested the addition of 2 fans. But if the fans don’t fix the problem I would rather just replace the unit.
@stephensinger4686
@stephensinger4686 3 года назад
@@theaminsk8411 the food in the refrigerator never froze. Before the fans were installed even at 90 degrees we could not keep the refrigerator below 45 or 50, obviously totally unacceptable. With the fans everything has been staying cool. We considered changing out the refrigerator for a compressor type but we wanted to try the fans first. Additional steps that can be taken include a fan in the refrigerator to circulate the cod air for better distribution and, if it is very hot, to put to blue ice packs in the refrigerator. These packs can be changed out and refrozen in the freezer. As I understand it, the freezer will always be cold because it is chilled before the refrigerator.

Ken, I removed the exhisting hose carrier. The sewer hose carrier that I used was 6" in diameter & expandable from 34" to 60". I think mine is 53" long and that length easily will hold 2 - 10'.hoses. I would suggest that once it's. mounted that you drill a few 3/4" to 1" holes in the bottom for drainage. Jim
@HungryHippo702
@HungryHippo702 3 года назад
@@jimbarta9467 I checked the mounting of my existing sewer hose carrier and a longer carrier would need more special brackets to hold the length. Kudo's to you for getting under or jacking up your rig because that area is pretty tight. I'll look for something on Amazon and see whether I'm brave enough to replace the carrier. From the video, I was under the impression that you just "extended" by adding something on to the existing hose carrier. Both ends of the existing hose carrier screws off so I thought you just added an extension, which was quite appealing to me! My bad for misunderstanding and getting my own hopes up high! LOL. Thanks!

I wish he had shown how he made up the twin beds. I noticed he had sheet coverings on the Ottomans and on the couch and I can’t find any videos of how a pleasure way is made up for twin beds.
@FromShetoMe
@FromShetoMe 3 года назад
What I've seen in other vans is people use a twin sheet on the sofa part and then make a fitted cover for each ottoman.
@jimbarta9467
@jimbarta9467 3 года назад
My wife used two twin-size fitted sheets. The first one fits very nicely on the sofa. With the second twin-size fitted sheet she spread the sheet out with the elastic evenly spaced and then cut it in half. She then made a casing in the cut-off section and eased the existing elastic through and sewed it to the other piece of elastic. It helped to pin the elastic to the material when it is first cut so it remains in place and is easier to attach when finishing. No additional fabric or elastic was needed other than what was on the original twin-sized sheet. Fortunately we were able to get a nice silver grey that matches nicely in our Lexor. We purchased king size pillow cases which nicely to cover the bolsters. I can send you photos if you'd like.

Our Lexor is very similar to Jim's. We have one solar panel and are thinking of adding two more. The solar controller by the stove is rated to handle the extra panels. However, there is a second solar controller in the box where the main fuse panel is located and that one is rated for only one panel. Some great hacks. Our Dometic (replacement) absorption fridge has worked flawlessly and an even less expensive thermometer that we use stuck with double sided tape on outside of fridge with probe going into fridge taped under a strip of electrical tape to make it a clean install can be found on Amazon here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A0TMS6Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Another hack we really like was building a RV tank fill 2 or 3 stage water filter. Normally charcoal and UV (2 stage) but can add an extra sediment filter to make it 3 stage if the water source is cloudy. This is something you can do yourself very reasonably and it has been great where the water has been of questionable quality. Takes out the contaminates and bad taste out of the water going into the tank. Again Amazon (Canada) but same products available for less in US UV filter (switched to 12V ballast) www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B073893WL9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 12V ballast www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07H68F8RS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Water filters housings (2) www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0014C5D64/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Charcoal filter www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0045LXJ0I/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Sediment filter (only use if water quality is quite poor or if drawing from a stream) www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00D049XFQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Each filter has a male and female 3/4 garden hose connection and I just daisy chain the filters I need or want for the water source. Sometimes I use just charcoal, sometimes charcoal and UV and if really questionable water, sediment, charcoal and UV. We boondock in the boonies and tap water can be hard to or impossible to find so we also have a 12v pump and we will pump water from a mountain stream when necessary. We have also had some poor tasting (sulphur) unfiltered well water that after charcoal filtering has been great. The water filter has been our best hack/investment of 2020.
