Sooner or later, it seems every modern fuel-injected gasoline engine vehicle experiences a failure in one or more of the oxygen sensors in the exhaust system. Because exhaust systems experience very hot temperatures and also tend to rust, removal of an oxygen sensor can be difficult. I share a few tips and tricks that will help you get that sensor un-stuck so you can DIY remove it and replace it!

Heat and just 22mm wrench plus lifting it up with jack 😂yes Kroil and Pb. Just enough ! Whatever stuck O2 sensors

I ended up double wrenching mine, closed end of the wrench on the O2 sensor, then a second wrench intertwine the open ends and slowly and carefully pry... Also they're either 7/8's or 22mm and I'm not sure which one but I'm pretty sure there's a tiny difference in size so one of those wrenches gets a slightly snugger fit, that's the one that goes on the sensor.

Yep, the double-wrench trick works well to get some extra length and extra leverage. A closed wrench is probably best, too, but only if you can get the wire connector through it OR you cut the wire (throw-away sensor).

Hardly anyone recommends using a can of freezing spray on the sensor but logically it would be the safest and best in my opinion.

That would probably work pretty well, I imagine, if you can spray primarily the sensor and shrink it a tiny bit. Maybe even better if you heat up the exhaust, spray the sensor, and don't care about damaging it.

If your replacing sensor....just cut wires off ..and use normal deep socket...the oxygen socket spreads out & doesn't give tight fit..

You're right about that! The O2 socket is intended to work around the wire, but it is not great.

If I remember correctly, the camera shut down before the end of the job... but, yes, it sure did come out!

Not bad but, Liquid Wrench is not all that it is cracked up to be. It's an old and outdated solution. We use a product by the name of Corrosion-X. There is nothing that we have found that does a better job. We've tried everything on the market and this is definitely the cat's meow! You may need to let it sit for a short while to penetrate properly but, in the end, it's worth the wait. Just in case that doesn't work then the next level is an oxygen-acetylene torch! Yep! The good old "Gas Wrench" is sometimes the only way to go. Although, it is what we consider the last ditch and hail Mary method. Your mileage may vary.

I will look for Corrosion-X and give it a try one of these days. I'm always dealing with rusted $h1t. Thanks for the tip!
